Metro Trains Melbourne: Cranbourne - Dandenong on a Comeng

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video we take a ride onboard a Metro Trains Melbourne Comeng EMU between Cranbourne and Dandenong on the Cranbourne line, stopping at Merinda Park & Lynbrook stations before arriving at Dandenong. This section of the Cranoburne line is predominantly single track with a crossing loop at Lynbrook, and is currently undergoing duplication works which will be completed by 2023. This will include grade separations of the remaining level crossings on the line and the rebuilding of Merinda Park station.
Along the way we see a couple of the grade separations in progress, the Kimberly Clark siding in Dandenong South where the newly formed Dandenong Cement Train terminates, and the Bombardier factory.
On this particular journey we ride on an Alstom refurbished Comeng EMU. The Comeng is the oldest type of train in service with Metro; entering service from 1981 - 89. The fleet was initially refurbished in the early 2000's by EDI Rail & Alstom, with additional external and internal modifications having been done since the mid 2010's onward, including the recent life extension refurbishment works. The fleet is quite common on the Cranbourne line, but this will soon be no more in the coming years with the future introduction of the High Capacity Metro Trains.
Date: June 2020.

It’s such a shame that the Comeng is being replaced; they’re such a cool train and all unique with their horns and the gear sounds r so smooth, RIP Comeng train

These are the Comeng's how I remember them. Shame they're all gone now.

I like how Melbourne’s Metro trains are able to reach a nice, cruise-y speed when going on some parts (not all) of their line. And when the trains do go at that kind of pace, it makes me feel like they’re going quite fast, not as fast as V/Lines do, however.

Woah, train carriage 666M. Been on that one a couple of times, nothing bad has happened, yet. It is pretty sad they're cancelling Comengs in a few years time. Hopefully HCMTs make up for the old fleet.

You omitted the new sidings that will serve rail TEU (container) movements from the Port of Melbourne.

Where abouts on the route is it? I'm not too familiar with this TEU proposal.

I use Sony Vegas 11 Platinum. You can get more recent versions of the software though, I think they're up to version 18 now.
