Here I am, a few years after hearing this song the last time, thinking to myself that this has to be one of my favorite songs, but somehow I didn't realize it before now. I mean, I really liked the song, but I guess this scaled-down version of it made me realize how well written it is...

This performance has my heart beating like a hammer.

Emily Haines is just beyond amazing. She gives me goosebumps.. Perfect live..

One of the best "live acoustic" versions of any song I've ever heard. Just beautiful. I almost didn't listen because "live acoustic" versions, especially of highly-produced thumpy tunes are almost always disappointing. Glad I gave it a shot. Well done.

They did a great job pulling this off. She really does have a nice voice, and they've proven they don't need studio bells and whistles to sound good.

This isn't the type of stuff I usually listen to, but for some reason the other version of this song played on my Pandora a few years ago and that part is exactly why it stayed on my Pandora. I don't know any of their other music, but I do enjoy this song, and really like this acoustic version.

All these people are talking about how they look and "ugh why are they wearing sunglasses indoors?!" Like stfu they can wear sunglasses whenever they want. Plus what you're supposed to be focused on is their fucking amazing music. Its amazing and her voice is lovely.

This is the only version I know. I've had this on a CD for over 10 years and never checked it out. This MP3 is the only knowledge I have of this song. I am so excited to hear any version while knowing nothing will be beat this one.

Hearing this version now makes me concur that Help I'm Alive is one of the most well-crafted songs in recent memory. It's right on that level of songwriting like Nowhere Man or (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. These songs are very cleverly written in their simplicity.

This song is a revolutionary innovation. Huge interval jumps. Radical context changes. Single drone notes of the perfect pitch lend a very novel mood. The lyrics are a bit obscure (seem to be about stage fright) but they take a back seat to the musical innovation. Top 10 best songs of all time.

The lyrics are probably about PTSD and associated anxiety, as Emily is diagnosed with it and it’s the subject of some other songs (most notably Monster Hospital)
