Its kind of awesome, its almost like a double entendre; combat baby as in fight me in a passive aggressive manner of fight for my love......but then it actually sounds like comeback baby as in don't leave me. Its kind of that subtle yet continuous strain in some relationships, where you do everything to fight for the love of the other then at the same you take that love and use it as a weapon to push them away as vehemently as possible......?!....Who knows? Maybe, I drank to many beers and this is what I get for listening to this stuff???

Nathan Edwards Idk, i feel like its about a relationship where they fight constantly, but she misses it anyway. 'No one here wants to fight me like you do' thus the combat baby/come back baby play on words, its like it goes hand in hand. Idk. Seems like one of those situations where you're unhappy 'i miss your ranting, do you miss my all time lows?' But once you're out of it you realize there were good parts you miss? Its the paradox of people lol i guess.

Metric's lyrics just ooze multiple intended interpretations and plays on perspective, yet I feel like no one else hears it. So thank you for reassuring me I'm not alone here haha
@b.d6642
3 жыл бұрын
Here is my interpretation of the song (if you care for it): I think this song is about being "addicted to bad relationships". sometimes when were in a relationship with someone who isn't right for us we could become too comfortable in that toxic relationship and when we finally get the sense to say "this isn't working" we want to go back, because as terrible as the relationship was it's more familiar then just being alone and trying to get yourself back together, "non of them want to fight me like you do" i feel like that line is supposed to basically tell us what the everyday dating life of someone who just got out of a relationship like that are like, they try to look for someone new but the future is scary, and when the only familiar thing about your past is toxicity than your going to go for familiar toxicity instead of unfamiliar future, even if you know it's bad for you, even if you know that your previous partner's only skills were to know how to "fight" you you'd prefer going back to something familiar. I dunno that's just my interpretation

This spring I tried to move out into the woods to get away from certain things I didn't know how to deal with. I didn't end up moving into the woods, but I spent a lot of time in nature rediscovering my passions and Metric's and Mother Mother's music kindled a flame in me, giving me a lot of warmth and hope that this is the kind of music I want to do, the energy I want to have in my life. This song was my fight song.

I just recently found this song and must say I am in love with this genre of old music. I'm definitely in love with this song for some reason too.

playing this on Canada Day 2018 at Montebello Park in St.Catharines, Ontario - Cranked to 11!

I dunno that's just my interpretation
thank you, mom. i know i haven't seen you in years. i apologize, and i forgive you. i hope you do the same for me. this is to you, cheryl.

Both mother mother and metric are some of my favourite bands. they helped me throughout high school and will always have a special place in my heart.
Love the voice. Love the fusion with music and good lyrics.
The little vocal and instrument features all throughout this song are wonderful~
