Oh my gosh! I never knew that you shouldn't cross the tracks even when the train is stopped, I'm trespassing, and I could possibly become part of the Darwin awards! I never knew how dangerous doing so is! I'm going to tell my friends not to! My friends will be shocked to hear this!

Unfortunately the railroad crossing is what gives the rules even when a train is stopped. Don’t worry about it though as you won’t get in much trouble. It is true though, when the gates are down, the law states it at trespassing when you cross and could get a $500 fine. This almost NEVER happens though as police don’t care much. So don’t worry!

@@timectrl yes that is the case. Of course people may cross and not hear the other train coming so that’s why you should not cross either way, even if you know that there is not another train coming. Lucky for some places like Elmhurst, they have had problems with this in the past and now they have the danger another train coming signs.

Inbound trains should at least have the cab car past the crossing before stopping instead of short of the crossing.

Normally the engineers could care less clearly not this engineer

Yea, was thinking that it was a accident but I have seen a inbound do the same thing before so maybe the same engineer or something

It’s just the law, no matter if the train is stopped. They don’t want people crossing because there may be a fast train next to it you can’t see. The only way they can stop people from crossing while the gates are down is just to make it a law.
