A commonly used parameter in forecasting thunderstorms and severe weather is Convective Available Potential Energy (CAPE). Here, we look at how exactly that parameter is calculated.

    Thank you very much. I was reading that the CAPE values for the Rochelle tornado in 2015 were 1000-1500 J/k!

    Excellent video, I appreciate as a mechincal engineer you going over the fundamental calculus behind it. Really interesting how even severe weather must follow the lwas of physics.
