Mining is about extraction of ores & minerals In metallurgy you can study about materials ( characteristics, properties, & application, manufacturing process, testing, behaviour, failure analysis.....) For example : Extraction a iron from ore, preparation, iron making, steel making + secondary steel making, semi finished product (rod, billet), finished product, manufacturing process ( like forming, casting, welding,..) testing of material .. like that you can study about these
