About the tempo if im not wrong the art of guitar have a video and in my humble opinion its a good one (Sorry for the bad english but my mother languaje is spanish)

I tried playing this on GarageBand but after the pauses the guitar does an horrible screeching sound. Does anyone know how I can stop it?

I ask to Metallica the same question every time they play it live, still no answer ... ! (in my personnal opinion, this is not the most important part of the song, that's why they cut it, and i did it like this too, sorry if you really enjoy this one !)

Hey friend, i know this video and he always do some great job but i think in this video he is out of point, cause first, he gives another feeling to the intro, the first note of the group of three sounds like a shuffle feel, and it doesn't sound like this on the song, and second, he tries to make theory or logical thing (with the clic) on something who was not create in this feel by Lars and James. This intro is just pure rhythm feeling. So i think it's a mistake to think it with a regular pulse. That's why Metallica make some mistake on it live, and to solve the problem now they don't play it at all live ! lol

You are on the right track, The beginning is free hand with no time signature. You can try to count it but it will not work. Just another example of James's brilliant guitar work. you got the rest of this. great job my friend!!

I was dealing with my new gear at this time ( revv D20 and torpedo inside) and try it on the old stuffs from the band. I was happy with my Load covers, but yeah, maybe this one is not the best one for tone 😅 If you think Justice, Whiplash or Battery who were after are better it’s good ! But tell me you don’t listen my video on a phone please… 🙏🏻
