I'm not a fan of Hetfields harmony in the chorus. I prefer the original album version. Even though it makes theoretical sence....I prefer the original. Great lesson Sir. It's one of the better ones I've looked at for this song. Thanks!

@@frankferriolo9212 I think I agree with you on that. It's nice that they play variations live so that those of us who really know the music can appreciate the differences but in this case I think I prefer the original too.

I use amp sims for all of my videos. I don't remember what amp I was using for this video but it was either the VST rack in Cubase or an amp from Audio Assault. I'm using Blacksun from Audio Assault in most of my newer videos. In 'Cowboys From Hell,' my latest video, I'm using the AHM5050 also from Audio Assault.

Great lesson! I'm starting to see Metallica's style. When I learn several songs from the same band, I often see things repeat. Makes sense. That's what gives them their sound.
@TimHolman
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, I know what you mean. The songs actually get easier to transcribe as I go because I'm getting more attuned to their style.
Im having so much trouble with the intro riff, when it comes to playing the 7th fret on the E sting, im constant muting the A string below
How does Kirk play solo 1 live? Because of the two parts which are panned hard left and right.
15:41 I really sturggle to not hit the E string again when going for the 8th fret A. It ends up being like 0810 instead of just 810. Idk what it is my hands just refuse to jump over it.
Hi Tim, I see on your website you don’t offer the tabs for some of the videos you’ve recorded. Is it possible to get the GP Tabs of the FH?

They are great instruments for sure. Mine is a K series. Master Grade buckeye Burl top and headstock with black limba body. Finish is Thin Trans black burst edges with deep binding effect. 7 piece maple/walnut/mahogany neck with blackened treated birds eye maple fingerboard. 24 jumbo stainless steel frets. 25.5" scale. Black hardware. Pickups are passive Kiesel lithium humbuckers. I added a mini toggle kill switch which I love. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know about it. Thanks!

Thanks so much for sharing your Kiesel specs. Your Kiesel definitely has that wow factor which immediately grabbed my attention. I was wanting to get an Ibanez J Custom. However, their current finishes are boring and they don’t come with stainless steel frets. I might go Kiesel. 🤔

i cant believe you dont even have a thousand subscribtions.can you please clarify the diad in battery goes fron 7.5 to 5.4 inverted not stays at 5.3 like every one plays it
@TimHolman
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Umesh! The dyad in battery goes from 7 and 5 down a half step to 6 and 4. If you've been learning from the official tab book, it is wrong. It's a sliding minor third shape. Not a minor followed by major. I hope this clears it up for you. 🔥🤘

Got to the verse riff and stopped watching. The chord is played with an upstroke FFS!!!
@TimHolman

The chords in the verse riff are played with down strokes. Watching any live footage will confirm this. I know that it feels natural to play them with ups due to the triplet but there are two downs in a row.

@@jekylthorn8969 Ah, yes. Kirk does but Hetfield plays downs. Hetfield played all rhythms on the album so it was all downs on the recording. I'm sure you could play ups or downs without fear of angering the Metallica gods.

@@TimHolman it may be just me, but it sounds like the B note in the E5 chord is being voiced first. That is how it rings so well in the verse. It voices differently in the chorus. Must just be my ears!
