    The main reason why I love Metallica is because they experiment so much. All the way from the thrash to the bluesy/country inspired Load/Reload era and even St. Anger. In my opinion there are no bad Metallica records. (Lulu wasn't a Metallica record so that doesn't count :p). Fun fact: The Black Album was one of the best selling albums of 2016. Which is kinda crazy. They're still selling tons of it. I think it was around 5,000 a week or so.

    You are completely entitled to your own opinion. I just feel like it would be boring if they made the exact same album over and over again. Let's take Slayer for example. A great band which I like, and I'm probably gonna see them live one more time, but it can get a little boring with the same style all the time. To me at least.

    BLOODY FACE band official youtube channel Metallica were never ever 'thrash' The media labelled them There's no way you could compare true thrash of that era to Metallica. DRI, Crumbsuckers,gang green, sacred reich, nuclear assault and the rest. Metallica are/were mainstream or speed metal at best. That's the mistake people make, and are then disappointed when they change their sound And the reason they change is why they're so successful. It's no coincidence. Metallica are a genre of their own IMO.

    Not Here Comes Revenge, though. The rest yeah. Here Comes Revenge has the most generic chorus on the album, along with the lyrics. It's too long with not enough to the song. That second disc starts great, ends great, then loses itself in the middle. That's just my opinion, though. I think they took a step back from Death Magnetic with this record.

  • @thorwulfx1

    I'd say this was a lot more like a full-tilt thrash song, such as Damage, Inc., rather than Master of Puppets. Metallica tells us that they still have lead in their pencils with this song. The interesting thing about the song is that it does so much with a relatively small number of notes, in terms of the central riff and then the change-up riff ("Stop breathing..."). Hetfield's ability to find these great riffs, right out in plain sight, is always amazing. In terms of the lyrics, pretty straightforward, but well-drawn, as they often are with Metallica. Just watch a room full of people, peering into their phones, absolutely unaware of one another, and it's easy to see that yes, we've started to succumb to our digital tools. I'd recommend "Halo on Fire" if you want to keep going with this album. It's still metal, but shows more of their melodic progression through the years. It's my favorite on the album. Thanks, Vin and Sori, for being your authentic selves and bringing your perspective to the songs. Yes, it can be a rough moment when someone has a negative reaction to something you dearly love, as you've attached a little of your heart to that piece of art. That said, art is subjective. The more extreme the statement, the more polarizing the viewpoints. Metal, if it's any good at all, is making an extreme statement. Carry on. Well done. 1/2

    YES...recovering from a Slayer show right now...watched the entire night front center...49 years old still got it (but I don't know for how much longer lol). Car wreck is a good analogy... I do not think most can comprehend how brutal it is on the floor of a big GA metal show. Metallica has done a lot of songs like Spit Out The Bone...I compare it to Fight Fire With Fire, Blackened, Battery...great thrash songs. I think it is the one song on their new album that seems to connect most with their original fans. But it is nowhere near the level of Master of Puppets (or Creeping Death or Fade to Black). Btw...I love that you guys keep it real. No one is going to like you all the time...f-em. One thing that is overlooked is many times you are only hearing one or two songs from an artist for the first time...while their fans have listened to all of an artists music for a lifetime.

    I think we all have felt the songs the way she feels them. It was simply the first time we listened to the song. I still remember when I first heard Comfortably Numb. It was truly an amazing experience that to this day I have not been able to recreate. People told me "try it with drugs or with alcohol" and I have. Ive listened to that song while drunk, while on weed and on cocaine. It just did not too my first interaction with the song. I know when I heard that song I was 17 and it was raining outside. My brother wasn't home so I took his iPod and played "Pink" which was the name of the song. I was kinda tired so I almost fell asleep during the intro, then the vocals kicked in and I opened my eyes, still very tired. It was dark in room, I couldn't see anything so it was as if my eyes were actually closed. It really took me on a journey, I heard every word David Gilmore sang and it stuck with me. It was such a great experience that I had chills throughout the entire song - and then the solo. It just takes you through the cosmos and is so geniusly composed that you don't want it to end. There are a few things that are so perfect that they do not end - such is the case with this solo. It doesn't end, the guitar volume is lowered while still giving an amazing effect and it doesn't actually end, it just disappears.

    Rob Halford is great, but I see why someone doesn't like his style or even Bruce Dickinson. Halford used hella lot of falsetto, when he was younger. The same stuff is with King Diamond, but even in more exaggerated form. I prefer vocalists with a great emotional presentation like Chris Cornell, Phil Anselmo, Maynard Keenan or Layne Staley. Yet my favourite vocalist/frontman of all-time is Ozzy Osbourne, because he has his own unique style of vocals and presentation.

  • @FzNd

    @FzNd

    6 жыл бұрын

    Very true. With vocals as extreme as Halford's there's bound to be people who just don't like that style. What people often don't get is that disliking something does not necessarily equate belittling it. It's possible to acknowledge his skill and still absolutely hate his vocal style. That's actually fairly common for singers. Personally I think that Warrel Dane was one of the most brilliant vocalists to ever walk the earth, yet I've encountered numerous people who can't stand his vocals - and I totally can see why, because he has a very particular voice that just isn't for everybody. Same is true for many others. Finding afcceptance for different opinions in themselves just seems to be very difficult for many people. Especially if these touch on our core believes. Then those different opinions feel threatening. And it's even more difficult to figure out where to draw the lines in terms of tolerance. I suppose all that is just part of the puzzle that is us. Aaaanyways - enough philosophy. Concerning Metallica: Hardwired is certainly Metallica on their way back to form. This one and Moth to the FLame especially are great songs. But I think you're right: Master of Puppets is unachievable. You're not the only one to regard it as the best Metal song ever made. I personally don't see it that way (It's not even my favourite Metallica Song), but it certainly is one of the all-time classics. While I'm at it, I'll drop another suggestion, this time with a bit of commentary: I'd love to see your take (especially both Sori's emotional and Vin's analytical approach) to this one: *Evergrey* - *When The Walls Go Down* That isn't really the best introduction to the band, because it does not feature their singer's vocals (which are pretty fantastic, I might add), but excerpts from David Wilkerson's "A Call to Anguish" sermon instead. That song is just an emotional tour de force. I feel it's also thematically fitting for this channel since it's the closer to a concept album that deals with the persuasive powers of cults and sects. You have touched on things like people's need for religious conversion and the insecurity about one's own believes that this kind of behaviour can reveal. I'd be really interested in your thoughts on these kinds of things in a little more depth.

    As an Athiest XD i just want to say i really like both of you. I can feel i had some prejudice about Christians. I always liked the religious, but ive come to see that there are Christians i would actually hang out with. I think i always assumed that they would think satan is working through me or something XD You do "slaughter my sacred cows" or as i would put it, speak some laughable religious points sometimes, but that never pissed me of. I think it is telling about people´s confidence in there beliefs if they get angry at the slightest disagreement. You are both very likable and knowledgeable about a lot of things. So thanks for doing it.

    Hey, i just wanted to say that i came across your channel 2 days ago and ive been loving your videos. I went back to the bottom of your channel to the first videos you guys ever posted about 2 years ago and started opening all the videos about the songs that I like into my tabs and I have about 20 tabs open and I havent even past the "2 years ago" mark lmao. Anyways, ive been watching song review channels for a few yesr now and yours has quickly become my favourite. I am a massive Metallica and 80s rock fan (and when I say massive Metallica fan I mean Countryallica and St. Anger and all! I love every single one of their Albums (except Lulu) and love all their songs) and the thing I find with reactions channels is that every single one loves everything they listened to and at the start it was great, i thought "Yeah Metallica is so good, everyone loves them ect" but after a while I started thinking "ok surely not everyone loves them, i mean yeah I think theyre great but surely not everyone thinks that". When I first heard Sori say she didnt really like metallica I was so happy. I was genuinely excited and had a big smile on my face because for once you were actually being honest. I love the fact that I finally found an honest channel that tells us their real thoughts and also i love the fact that you guys sit there and break down the lyrics and talk about them and understand them in depth and have discussions about them. Yeah your videos are 30-40 minutes and it takes a lot of time to watch multiple videos in a row but its amazing. Its everything ive been looking for in a reaction channel. You guys are so smart and are very knowledgeable about many topics and the way you break down the songs and the meaning behind them and have discussions is exactly what ive been looking for in a reaction channel. Too many channels just listen to the song and spend like 1 minute after the song saying its great and they loved it and then thats it, end of video. Thankyou so much for being you and I look forward to watching many videos from you guys. PS. The first video I watched of you guys 2 days ago was your Queensryche - Eyes of a Stranger reaction and in the video you guys said later down the track you guys will react to the whole Operation Mindcrime album since it is a concept album, I am very eager to see that video when you guys release it. I hope you guys have a wonderful day/evening!

    I’m telling you right now, VinandSori, the fact that you are so open-minded has inspired me to be open-minded. People have got to learn to accept other people and their beliefs. No one has to believe what Behemoth believes or what Deicide believes or what Thy Art is Murder believes or what Ne Obliviscaris believes, but at least try to understand their perspectives. God knows people are going to reject him and persecute his people and mock his people and their beliefs, that’s just how life works. There has never been one religion in the history of mankind that everyone believed in, and if there has been, I will eat my words. The reason why there are so many different religions is because people have different perspectives on what the world is. I’m just tell y’all straight up, I’m a Christian, just like VinandSori, but like VinandSori, I try to have an open mind towards satanic/atheistic music that clearly mocks God and his children. For those who get triggered at VinandSori for their open minds, please learn to have an open mind towards people and their beliefs, because I’m 99% sure God has an open mind as well, it doesn’t seem like he’s some angry god who smites people with godly powers every time someone challenges or mocks him, and if he did do that, the world’s population would thin out in a hurry. Idk maybe that’s just me 🤷🏻‍♂️. But this is pretty much where I stand on the topic

    You're right, this song is not better than the masterpiece that is "Master Of Puppets", but this is a modern-Metallica masterpiece, if you will. This proves that Metallica can create new music that is as thrashy and Epic as ever, if they want to. I love that you reacted to this amazing song. I love that they have gone back to their roots, because that's when they truly shine. And the fact that they record songs in standard tuning again. Great reaction, guys!

    Hoooooooooly shit, that song went hard as hell! That chugging section was absolutely filthy. I'd pretty much written off Metallica after the black album, but this...this I need to listen to apparently. Both of the songs you've done off Hardwired have been pretty damn awesome. Master of Puppets level? No. Though to be fair I don't think anything is really ever going to topple that. Lyrically this song is so pertinent. The Singularity is such an important subject with the advancements that are being made in A.I. and machine learning. It's simultaneously fascinating and terrifying. And I say that as an IT student. Anyway, it's awesome seeing Metallica return to form! As always, much love! -Jason

    The song is talking about machines becoming sentient, and “upgrading” humans to perfection. So it’s getting rid of all of the weak parts of being human to fit in the mechanical utopia. Therefore, it would have to “spit out the bone” because bones are weak.
