“You lie so much you believe yourself” is by far my favorite lyric in this song.

Also arrogance and ignorance go hand and hand is a good lyric

«You know not» might be the silver lining here... or the leitmotif maybe (also).
This song feels so appropriate in today’s world where so many people judge, criticize and belittle others, whether it’s from a religious standpoint, social or a political one. Great analysis for a song that gets overlooked but seems relevant in a long list of Metallica songs that share a great message.
One of the best underrated songs on the Black album

Black album was hated on too much, its full of bangers
Underrated song. My favorite line from here is "Before you judge me, take a look at you". That line says so much.
I know the the Black Album gets so much hate from Metal elitists, but this album sure is chock full of tasty riffs. My mom actually owned this album back in 91' and i will admit i stole it from her a few times and would listen to in my walkman waiting for the school bus. Also, Lars isn't a terrible drummer. A lot of great and superior drummers since have cited Lars' contribution to Metal and as an influence on them. Joey from Slipknot. The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold, and Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater just to name a few.

Honestly it was the peak of their music IMO. I really wish they hadn't kept the volume down on newstead and really embraced the sound he had. I play guitar but I'm a huge fan of bands that embrace the bass 😆. Rush, Primus, Floater and red hot shili peppers are a few that really show its not just a filler but a instrument ment to be heard. Ohh can't forget Tool...

@@xKapnKrunch some of the best bass tones and prevalence in the mixes I’ve ever heard is from Iron Maiden, overkill, and exodus. Especially from exodus on the albums tempo of the damned and shovel headed kill machine, that shit sounds disgustingly evil, it’s fantastic

If people were to look at what the black album really is, they would see it is arguably one of the greatest ROCK albums ever made. It isnt a metal album. Its a Heavy rock album.

This is the album that got me into metal music, I don’t get the hate. I have a feeling it has to do with the time. Metal was still a fairly niche genre at the time and this album blew up, so all the folks who loved metal at the time probably felt like it was taking their special thing away. I get the same way honestly. Theres a few tiny bands that I listen to and interact with the artists, and shamefully I get jealous seeing them get the success they deserve.🤷🏼♂️
Would love to see your analysis of “Until it Sleeps” or “Devil’s Dance.”

If one has this "holier than thou" attitude someone will see this and will drag you back down to your senses, it happens all the time in this troubled world we live in, I have done this and someone knocked me off my hobby horse and humbled me, we must be humble before God Almighty or he himself will knock you down to size, thank you for this video God bless your family always and forever, Amen
Don’t sleep on struggle within. That’s up there for me along with this one. It’s more of that faster pace tempo I like in Metallica songs along with those blistering solos
I finally got the chance to see Metallica for the first time at a Louder Than Life festival and the second night they played there (yes, two sets, two nights 🤟🏻) they played the entire black album and it was awesome.
I'm glad you dropped this video. I had been asked by the minister at my church yesterday if I would be interested in doing a class. An idea for the older teens was a "heavy metal music" meets Scripture, similar to what you do here. Don't know how well it would go over, but you don't know.

Kind of wish I could be a part of that LOL, but seriously as a metal head who rediscovered my faith a while back I would love to see how that turned out.
When I was in my early-mid teens my grandparents took me to church. In between services we would be in the lobby area and people in their fancy suits would be talking to each other about how successful their business, or job was. One Sunday in between services I look over and there is this man, standing kind of in the corner, but no one was talking to him, not even the pastors. He had kinda dirty jeans, Old coat, he was really shy. But for 15-20 minutes nobody approached him. I felt bad for him went up to say hello. He was new in our town, and just finished serving as a Marine in the 1st Iraq war. To this day DaSean and I are still buddies....................I did not go to church for 20 years, because that was how I seen the church.
Metallica "moth into flame" off their latest album. Great song and a lot to dissect lyric wise

Or Halo on Fire.
This is actually one of my favorite tracks on the Black Album and when this album dropped when I was in high school. I too had it on cassette and didn't pick it up on CD until just a few years ago at Walmart for $5.00. I understood the message of the song. I always try to not think I am above people just because I am a Christian. And I always try to stay humble from day to day about many things. Sadly I have been burnt out on the Black Album due to it being way overplayed on the radio. Especially Enter Sandman. I used to love that song, but can't stand it now as I have heard it a million times. lol Great message! God Bless!
I’ve always enjoyed this song and use it in my practice sessions for the drums. It’s a good one to get your blood pumping. Fun fact, I only practice at my church lol
You nailed the song, lyrical analysis, and scriptural analysis again. Nicely done.
Man Metallica was my band back in the day, like you I had this on tape when I was a teenager. I still remembered the lyrics as well lol.
yet another great video.....i too had this on cassette along with my sony walkman ..this song brings back memories
This was a great song to talk about love the discussion! I would love to hear you two talk about Bloody Angel by Avatar. That song has such great lyrics and I think lots to talk about.

Amen! That's all there is to say...Amen!
This song perfectly describes the plague of low-functioning narcissism that's been rampant in the last years. The black album has their best guitar tone in my opinion! Rob, check out the song ''Born'' by the band Nevermore! I feel like you would find this tune very interesting.
Sweet. New reaction! I love this song

Thank you for the love!
I first come across Metallica thru the black album and during a time I was rebelling against my Christian faith, when I was 19-20, but still to this day, I dedicate this song to the religious Christians and false prosperity teachers……., I really need to learn how to play this on guitar again, it’s been too long
Love this song! I saw them play it live in 2018! It was awesome!!!
Well I guess I’m not the only Christian metal head, go to concerts on saturday and pray for forgiveness on sunday
Thank you. For all of this.
Keep growing like a tree by the riverside. I love what you guys do!!!!!
You're right, they still tour quite a bit. Have you heard any of their newer stuff? Their most recent album Hardwired To Self Destruct is a great album. Moth Into Flame is a killer song off it talking about how fame corrupts people. I highly recommend it.
91 Tough year from me. Still have it on Cassette to. War Is on me soon after 91. Stay healthy and safe
Tristania - The Shining Path. It's an interesting take on the "burning times" where non-believers were burned at the stake. As a Christian metal fan, I'd love to hear your take on it.
That was my first concert back in 1992 the black album. I still got Garage Days Revisited on tape when I was 17. It's actually a one-sided tape.

Nice, I was recorded it on cassette when it played on the radio. When ever they played I would try to capture their songs.

Good stuff as always! Mic drop.
"Take the plank out of your own eye before taking the speck from your brothers eye."
that's so coolthat james took from the bible and put it into his lyrics
I got the black album on double vinyl :-D My first ever metal album.
🤘
Very underrated song. One of my favorites. Had the cassette as well
They are putting out live videos there is one out there of them playing this in a SMALL venue and it POUNDS.
The Man Named Hell by the Showdown🙏🙏🙏 great reaction by the way
🙏
1:47 Pastor Rob sporting the stank face with the head bob, I'm here for it!
This is my favorite band. And the black albums my favorite album, And was before I found this out. I was born the very day the black album came out. 08/12/1991
The Black Álbum was the first CD I ever bought. This year is the 30th anniversary of The Black Album
Nice video, I’d love to hear y’all react to Megadeth again. They have some biblical songs I think you’d enjoy analyzing, such as Truth Be Told, Never Walk Alone, or Looking Down The Cross
Soldier Side by SOAD, great song, would love ur response to it as a pastor
One of the best tracks on this album!! Great dive into guys, cheers!! …. Be interested to see you have a look at Brotherhood of the Snake by Testament, interesting look at the ancient Sumerians and their role in religion.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"Behold the Crown" or "Lost in the Static" by After the Burial (either will blow Pastor Rob’s mind) and "Deceiver" or "Out if Control" by The Ghost Inside
Yay another Black Album song, you guys should try St. Anger next
James as I'll always say, is a truth teller. His lyrics aren't typically written about fictitious things, and he always hits the nail on the head. I've been listening too Metallica since 1996, they're the best band lyrically and musically in my opinion. They are touring as we speak, Metallica isn't the kinda band to lose there love and passion, of playing live, and recording new music, which they are currently doing as well. You guys take care. Excellent Video.
@Dwendele
2 жыл бұрын
True. I've been listening to them since 84. James's lyrics are typically self reflective. If you follow their entire catalog, you can practically live his life and all the pain he's suffered.
@lovemetal2467

@@Dwendele Oh Yeah. I totally agree man. It's always typically the darkest and most honest song's. Master Of Puppets is the album where he really delved in, and started writing more about himself and his horrible family life. He's just a damn good lyricist. And his right hand and arm are bionic, total downpicking machine. After 20 plus year's of playing, I can't downpick like that. Take Care Man.🤘🏻🤘🏻
👍👍
His voice is great here...
Funny I always thought the second line was " Or i'll kick your brains to gelatin"
I'm still hoping for a reaction to Children of the Next Level by Testament. I think you would have a lot of fun with that one; and definitely watch the music video for it.
I would love to see you react to: dex - dear God Amazing song
I'd love to hear you guys do, "Natural Born Sinner" by In this moment
I would love to see you do the Unnamed Feeling from St Anger album
Black Album was my introduction to Metallica - wore out TWO cassettes between 1991 & '93 !! LOL
Here is something my brother says about people who judge him as below them "I don't care about your opinion, you're just a sinner like me, the difference is that I am aware of it and willing to admit it so I can better myself."
Just one for the algorithm
Best song on the album
This came out around the same time that I got saved. Can't believe it's been 30 years. And please do a Testament song. 7 Seals is a good place to start
Pastor Rob there are some reimaginings of the songs off this album that were done for the Blacklist album(all for charity) since are very good. I really like the Enter Sandman version done by Alessia Cara and The Warning, as well as Sad But True done by Chris Stapleton
Would love to see you cover the song Reanimate by Disciple
We older ones already have it on it, we go with the music, bravo Pastor Rob 😁👏👏🙏 I love this album nice memories 😇As next Band I recommend ORBIT CULTURE ,singer Niklas clear voice is reminiscent of the young Hetfield, go 💪💋💓
Pastor Rob you guys should listen to As lions and lamps there song No Return is such an amazing piece of work.
Love your reaction and explanation of this song. Love to hear your take on Alice Cooper - Stolen Prayer
Pretty sure they're on tour right now.
You guys should check out rivers of nihil - the void which no sound escapes. Im super curious to hear your opinion
GOAT
You should do Jxdn-Pray was listening to his other music and this one hit me like a semi instant tears
I'd love to see a reaction to Orbit Culture. In many ways a modern Metallica (at least their recent work). Open Eye is probably the most popular big song, but Mast of the World (just came out) is imo a better song for discussion, as well as being the best song I've heard all year.
Please review Regina Spektor - Laughing At It gets me in feels every time.
Can you do Chaos Reborn by Impending Doom? Or, Brimstone by Whitechapel? Or Blood-soaked Symphony by Whitechapel? Thanks for what you’re doing Pastor.
The four horsemen the four horsemen the four horsemen!!!
Love your guys videos. Please do These three things by Type O Negative. It would be an interesting discussion
Once again. Please do Oh Sleeper "son of the morning" and "the finisher". Back to back. Please. 😁
Would you please check out the band Imminence. Check out Paralyzed first then get the song Infectious followed by Erase. It’s a 3way video/song storyline with three videos connected. It’s a violin in metalcore. Also check out the band called Angelmaker and the song Blood for Blood.
You should react to SUPERSTATIC - I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, they are definitely something else 🤘
Ok I'm back boyssss 🤘 so how about some slaughter to prevail baba yaga?
Imagine this album but with the St. Anger snare tone.....
Impending Doom - Satanic Panic! Brand new track for their upcoming EP!
would you do a reaction to "eye of the beholder" or something from ...And Justice For All, they all have great topics.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘😎😎

I am not a religious person but my mum is highly religious so I’ve definitely learned to be a kind human because of it. Though me living in Belfast where you can be attacked for being a certain type of Christian has put me off religion completely. it is really interesting seeing people openly talking about religion where it’s a conversation I want to stay far away from because of the sectarianism and violence it can cause.
You guys should check out Wolves at the Gate's new single, "Shadows".

Can you review Haste the Day's song American Love?
noooo I miss the "this is not an endorsement of the song, the band or the genre" intro haha
