“Freedom no longer frees you” gives me chills every time

Those who say all metal is just screaming should listen to this. I think this would be the perfect song to make someone understand metal. The lyrics are so intelligent and relevant. And each riff in the song is absolutely amazing, they are just so cool. It makes you think about all the work that went into this and the talent required. This song is art and is beautiful. Not beautiful in a conventional way but in a way that can’t really be explained with words.

The screaming metal vocalists do like Corey Taylor from Slipknot or Johnathan Davis from Korn also take a shit ton of effort and skill, it's just a different style. People don't have to like every different style of vocals but you have to give credit where credit is due, musicians in general are pretty cool.

The way the song comes at you in the intro 😌👌, the lyrics 😌👌, it’s Also Catchy 😌👌,Drums 😌👌, the different amount of riffs that makes it feel like there’s 3 songs in one (imo) 😌👌, James voice on this song is😌👌, solo 😌👌, and then the song as a whole 😙👌🤘 Note: I edited the comment a lot but finally got it like I wanted it to be worded 😁

Mark Elshout He said a mulitple times that he dont like to talk or song about politics because it splits the people while music connect them. ;) Also, the whole band dont like Escape and they played the song only one time live.

Personally I can’t understand how Lars can hate on this song. That intro is one of the greatest builds up in the whole Universe.

This record came out the year I was born. And it's crazy ahead of its time. And as much as I love the other thrash bands and respect the fuck out of them sorry but Slayer and Megadeth never wrote a record that can touch AJFA

The lyrics overlap perfectly with today's media, social media, and political climate. It resonates as true today as it did 27 years ago. This song will have resonance in 2116 and 3116. We are simple creatures of habit, us human beings.....

James voice in this album - only in Justice album - is the best 20 years ago. Nothing in thrash/hardcore scene like his voice. Cold, hard and melodic at the same time. I remember this album changed my life forever his voice, lyrics and Lars weird and genius drumming...nothing like And Justice for all.

Isn't it funny though that as much as we love his voice James always wanted a new vocal for the band because he never liked his voice nor considered himself a singer. Flemming Rasmussen, the producer of 'Master of Puppets' had to convince him he is the voice of Metallica.

Pretty fucking on point for 2023. I don't care what you think but you know THEY want you to think differently. Keep you're mind.

This album can't be more relevant than it is right now.

I had my hands on that album the day it dropped and I'm a bassist so if anything I'm driving the damn bandwagon. It's all good now though I can get all sorts of mixes today , back then ya got what ya got .still and never will be my favorite album it's always going to be M.O.P.because of Cliff. So no, I'm not getting over anything .it is what it is, I still love the album though and listen to it and still like to jam several songs off it.and then I really like it because it has a bass tone present.

its strange that this song men't nothing lyric wise to me as a 15 year old boy and now is so so clear.

This was the first Metallica song I ever heard. I was actually at a play with my dad and sister (42nd Street). I think that was at the Greek Theater. I noticed there was a Korean kid with his parents who had headphones on his head during the entire show & I was thinking "what's he listening to that's more interesting than this play?". I didn't say anything to him until after the show, I was interested in what he was listening to so I asked. He put the headphones on my head and started this song. I was like "Holy shit! Who IS this?!"; he said "Metallica". I've been a fan ever since but I think this will always be my favorite song of theirs.

I wish Lars still cared about playing the drums the way it shines through in this one

***** Its really weird when artists just repeat this one short line or riff and it sounds SO GOOD. Ozzy Osbourne did the same thing in his song "Diary Of a Mad man" just a simple short riff repeated for like 10 seconds, but i kept replaying that one part over and over and over.

This song really describes what began in the 80s and is so obvious today

I have loved this song for many years.

It's wild how songs like these can have a totally different meaning in a modern interpretation than how they were originally intended in their original context. Censorship was very much an issue when AJFA came out, but now in a world of 'Free Speech Absolutists' and 'Modern Cancel Culture' the song takes on an almost sinister nature.
