As many others said, Don Quixote (Don Chisciotte in Italian) is a 17th century Spanish novel about a man who dreams about chivalry, so decides to become a knight himself, choosing a farmer as his squire (Sancho Panza) and they go in search of adventures. Dulcinea is the lady he's in love with, as every knight has his damsel in distress. It's mostly famous for originating the idiom "tilting at windmills", because that's exactly what Don Quixote tries to do at one point: he sees some windmills and thinks they are giants, so he decides they are to be defeated and starts fighting against them (this is why the idiom means "fighting against invisible enemies or impossible battles"). Sancho Panza is his rational part, although sometimes he's dragged into these bizarre adventures. Congratulations as usual for the quality of the songs chosen 👌 not that you could ever go wrong with Guccini, of course! And I hope you're better. I remember it's been a rough period for you, so I hope that this extraordinary song will help lifting your spirit.

This is my favorite Guccini song ever. Georgious choice. Btw, this song has 2 singers involved, since the whole track is actually a conversation between Don Quixote and his squire Sancho Panza. They actually embodies two different sides of the same personality, whereas Don Quixote is the idealistisc, generous, pure soul, Sancho is the hard, pragmatic and rational side. But the key part is the fourth from last verse: Don Quixote is not crazy, he just sees the human reality for what it is, naked from the "tricks of this damned soul that transforms reality in front of me". Through his own illusion he actually can see the true fabric of the physical wolrd around him and its _real_ suffering, struggling to find a way to break away from evil and live truly as an human being. This is why, at the end, the two souls come together as one, not crazy, not arrogant, but not defeated even, despite all hardships that seems to overwehlm them. This is just beautiful. You did good mate, you have taste.

@dylee I think what he means is that even though the States have the best and most expensive universities, Americans are rarely aware of what goes on in the rest of the world. The Don Quixote, by Cervantes, is Spanish, not Italian, but I think every Italian knows about it. No offense, it's just that the U.S. is so self-centered.

Ma non è vero che lo seguono solo gli italiani... Trovo interessante vedere un americano che ascolta le canzoni italiane ed esprime la sua opinione, in fondo noi ascoltiamo le loro ogni giorno se ci pensi, è la normalità, mentre vedere un americano ascoltare Guccini, almeno per me, non è all'ordine del giorno e ciò mi incuriosisce. Non mi piacciono i video reacts in generale, ma se si parla di musica sono sempre curioso.
