Baikal is the largest and deepest fresh water lake in the world, people still believe that spirits occupy the surroundings. Diana plays the role of the spirit/personification of the lake, it is a benevolent spirit that helps people, in this case, a child is lost literally because of a snowstorm and mentally since his mother passed on recently and he is lost in his grieve according the the scenario of the movie. The spirit takes the form of the child's deceased mother, helps him to keep awake during the night because sleeping on the ice means certain death, guides him to the shore and at the same time sings to him about his feelings of loss and helps him cope with the passing of his mother.

In the movie Diana plays the voice of the boy's dead Mother and also the spirit of the lake. He is lost in a storm, she pounds the ice to keep him awake so he doesn't fall asleep and die. She leads him to safety.
