"Are they second-hand embarrassed that I can't get out of bed because something counterfeit is dead" - Man, those are some brutally brilliant lyrics. It's a great song, but yes, so sad.

It’s so sad because the whole song you think loml means “love” of my life when she means it to be “loss” of my life. It hits you right in the gut at the end.

At some point you must listen to all too well 10 minute version. An absolute masterpiece!! There’s a short film as well but I’d recommend just listening first (lyric video is great) as I think the short film can be distracting if listening to the song for the first time. It’s about Jake Gyllenhaal who she dated when she was 20 and he was 29. The song was part of Red (about 5 mins) but she mentioned in an interview that the song was originally 10 minutes long and ever since the fans were desperate to hear the full version. When she did Red Taylor’s version she blessed us with the 10 minute version. Think you’d enjoy it!

Turn up your volume a little. The saddest song Taylor ever wrote is "Ronan" about a little boy named Ronan Thompson who died from cancer just before his 4th birthday. Taylor had been following Mya Thompson's blog, and Taylor felt the need to write a song about Ronan. Taylor called Mya, but she had to leave a message, needless to say, the family was stunned that Taylor called her. Taylor gave her writing credits and the proceeds go to cancer research for children. It is a beautiful song, but I advise you to have a tissue available. It is on Red Taylor's Version and has a slide-show video.

You would very much enjoy "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" from the 1989 Tour. Its a rock version of the super-popular bubble-gum song and sounds completely different and hits hard. Taylor plays a distorted Fender lead throughout. Its bad-ass, especially for those of us who grew up on bass-guitar1-guitar2-drums bands. Its a great performance.

The thing about the songs on TTPD is that they ARE like poems, you can't get the theme or message from just a line or two, you really need to take the songs in larger chunks, like a verse at a time, minimum. I adore the, but it's a kind of lyricism that's not common in music these days. Edit; One of my favourites is "Story of Us" :D

He played a total of 8 songs, all excelent, but I think you would particularly enjoy Uacho, La forma de tus huesos, Amame and Ayer te vi. This one is a tear jerker. Has me in TEARS every time i listen to it 😭😭 This one I believe is about Matty Healy I have a theory that He is her twin flame, so anytime Twin Flame (rekindled Flame or Twin or magnetic force/attraction its Possibly him, willow/Cardigan Down Bad are him. Imaginary string too. Its all just a theory but can go on and on. I can also show how they spoke to each other through their music for the last decade. This was a very painful breakup for her, it wasn't just a fortnight that they've been in love. What really messed things up is the fans trying to dictate who she dates. You hear this in "but daddy I love Him" oh a taylor one to listen to next: either "Invisible String" (lover) or "Mastermind" (midnights) or "but daddy I love Him" (TTPD) A 1975 One to listen to next (well the music video) : "I'm in love with you" (keep in mind, it's about Taylor) (Then when you listen to Cardigan you will get "black lipstick, sequin smile")

I don't know if you've seen any of my other statements, but I've said before that she intertwines several stories in songs sometimes. Sometimes she only does a line or 2. Like... In The Alchemy, Travis never did Heroine without an e, that's a line to Matty. "He jokes that it's heroin but this time with an "E" Cause the sign on your heart said it's still reserved for me" "How The 1975’s Matty Healy Kicked Heroin and Took the Band to New Heights"
