Tobias kept to the same notes that were in the original Halloween movie theme song which I think is an awesome way to honor what came before :)

He kept the tricky 9/4 time signature in that riff too, which is part of what makes it sound so creepy, and I find that very cool.

Yeah, first time I heard it without context, I thought, "5/4, and they're ripping off Halloween?" Now I know better.

It’s funny bc I was the same way. A lot of their early stuff had an immediate impact and I loved it. But since the prequelle album on, every time I hear a new song I’m worried I’m not going to love it. And then a few listens later I start liking it more. This song I instantly loved!!

Tobias is one hell of a song writer! How many bands have as many great songs as Ghost has put out in basically 12 years? hardly any fillers

How did anyone not notice all those guitars?!? XD I know what you mean that being a musician, you notice things that people who aren't might not, and that's why I watch all your videos - you're a serious musician who's discovering Ghost like a musician, and being a musician too, I love hearing your insights. And I love that other musicians love Ghost! Fun trivia: Halloween 2 was one of the first horror movies little Tobias Forge ever saw as a kid, and the series has been a lifelong favourite of his ever since. He must have been so pumped when they asked him to do a song for a Halloween movie!

It's is like this. Tobias is never really satisfied when a record is done. It's always something that he feels that he could do better or change until next time. When the recording for Impera was about to start one thing he changed was the drummer. Ludvig Kennberg played on Meliora and Prequelle. (And Opus). But on Impera it's Richard Huxflux Nettermalm . He also changed the size of the drumkit to a much larger and uses double bass drums for the first time. One other thing he did was that he felt that he needed a better guitarist than himself. Tobias really can play and almost every note you hear on the albums is played by Tobias. But this time he asked his friend Fredrik Åkesson from Opeth just because he thinks that he is better. And Fredrik accepted. A massive massive job there is up to twelve layers of guitars on some tracks. But Fredrik is absolutely flawless the whole album through. Tobias was never happy with the first version of Hunter's Moon and when the film was postponed a year he decided to re record it and that's the album version. Unfortunately the movie company refused to change and that's why there is two versions.

I'm not a big Ghost fan, but I like this. There is a safe, familiar feeling to it, almost romantic. Maybe it's that yummy feeling of classic horror movies. And the video is in beautiful colors. Great reaction, thanx! 🤘

I immediately thought of that thing in the 80s/early 90s where horror movies would get end credits songs from the hard rock/metal world. Like Alice Cooper and Friday the 13th VI and Dokken with Nightmare on Elm Street 3.

Listen to the main riff of this song and then listen to the Halloween theme song, there's a similarity. Also, a good number of songs on this album borrow riffs from classic rock/hair metal songs from bands like Van Halen, White Snake, Bon Jovi and Journey ect

The idea behind Hunters Moon, comes from the term Harvest moon, which is some sort of equinox phenomenon where the moon is full 3 nights on a row. As a part of some harvest moon ritual, deers were hunted and killed. As others pointed put, the track is originally ( in a different version) from the movie Halloween kills. Hunters moon, harvest moon, the killing of deers = easy prey, also for mr myers. I agree that the song doesnt fit the album very well, it seems like a filler , but a good one that is. The next one you are gettin to "Watcher in the sky" is a banger! Look forward to that one.. You might wonder about the fadeout in the end of that song, but when you own the LP it makes perfect sende, as we are entering a new era on side B. Be sure to listen to dominion and twenties together, to get the correct experience buddy🙏

I think with this one, as you know we can't really categorise ghost as this type or that type of music, but the to me is one you'd associate more with through and through heavy metal, gritty, great guitar phrases & licks, as a guitarist myself, they're some catchy as hell riffs that work no matter what genre they decide to play in that day lol

Heh, I knew you would say something about it being shorter, and I agree, it's definitely too short. It always makes me want to hear it again. He probably had to make it shorter *because* it's for a movie, but I don't know that for sure. I love the bass in this song so much, and all of the effects add so much. CMLS is a great track, but I can't wait for you to hear Respite on the Spitalfields. I am curious about how you'll feel about Twenties, but I'm seriously looking forward to ROTS.

I think it's me who said it felt different. I think it's more when you listen through the album in order it stands out. The rest you can see fit into the rise and fall of Empires theme of the album, this lyrically is very different and (to me at least) feels out of place. It's a great song though! I really like it.

  • @stonent

I really like the song but at 8:12 in this video it's like they tease a solo with just a few notes but it doesn't happen. I would have liked to have heard that little bit pan out into something for maybe 20 or 30 seconds.

I can't stand the movie credits version for some reason. I guess it's because I heard this version first and was hoping to hear it in the movie, not something different.
