It fits the mood he is going for along with the instruments Wanting to see their precious loved ones safe and untainted While he suffers alone, stuck in the loop of a once pure and caring person into a savage who tears through anything and break his own morals. And that scream would be the breaking desperation

Forever one of my favorites anime OP*. Love the pure rawness of emotion and voice control, this man is amazing.

I live in Tokyo. It's a shame, but I didn't know there was a singer like him in Japan if I hadn't seen your channel. It was my first time hearing the title "Tokyo Ghoul", but I was able to understand the despair and loneliness that comes from having a ghoul inside of him. "Don't look at me" "But don't forget me". What a deep lyric. Your videos always broaden my horizons. Thank you.

To me, Tokyo Ghoul is more of like a metaphorical way of describing a kind hearted naive youngster living in Tokyo, being forced by society or poverty or gangster or etc. and becoming someone he has been hated all his life. And in this manga and anime, this tokyo community issue has been metaphorically substitute as becoming a cannibal ghoul. That's why it put so much effort on describing the taste of every food he taste almost as if this is a food/chef related manga.

I think the scream is so much more emotional in the unplugged version. This dude really has perfect control over his voice.

Absolutely one of the best anime and anime songs ever made!!! TK and Lisa are on a different level. Lisa's Homura first take is amazing as well.

You should check out Aimer's Us Live performance. Its composed and written by TK but sang by her. Her vocal range and her voice is just incredible.

That's just TK s style , even when it's just his songs and not anime related he likes to crack up his voice intentionally, like strain his voice , he's done this throughout the years and I assume his voice got used up to going to the limit and over , the insane thing about TK is that he also plays the guitar at the same time when singing like that and screams , which is very impressive in my opinion, many say they don't like his voice but I think it's his style and fits perfectly , his range and technique is impressive and for me his voice is very beautiful, and sometimes it's like he cuts you with emotional waves when he's singing , I recommend you check this live performance of his . kzread.info/dash/bejne/pn5_lZWwaZmTYs4.html

He's got an extremely unique voice. It's almost like he's permanently in falsetto. He's not a countertenor I don't think, since he doesn't sound like a Mezzo and still has masculine qualities to his voice, but at the same time he sounds more feminine. It's just tough for me to place, but I love how much emotion it brings.

Scream singing it's actually a technique used by metal vocalists. Including myself. It isn't even hard to do, everyone can do it. The thing is, please don't hurt your voice now.

@@Nukerunin I think a big part of his singing is how breathy or clear he sings and in this song, mostly it's a very breathy but still high and to the note. If this makes sense :D I really couldn't say about his voice range, I wouldn't place him as contra tenor either (or countertenor) but he sure is very skilled at different ways of using his voice. On the higher end of male vocals at least I'd say but if he hasn't done any classical singing it can be really hard to say. I've had some classical training and for me the hard things are a: breathy singing and b: any type of growling :D

Ugh. This song reminds me again of the time when I was so freaking in love with Kaneki in Tokyo ghoul era. This is one of my favorites anime OP.

The way he sang the song was like he was literally crying, wailing, sobbing. The gasp in the end just syncs when you gasp while crying. Not me syncing my crying to the song, I’m just interpreting it that way…….😶

TKs Band is "ling tosite shigure" and they do really insane stuff ^^ also Tks Guitar Skills remind me of Jack White, very unique.

Check out his live concert version of this song. It’s incredible as well. His Copy Light first take is awesome too.

Some might think this one isn't as perfect as the demon slayer one but they're so very different when so much of this song relies on him pushing and lying just on the edge of breaking his voice. I'm amazed he can pull it off this well like this all in one go

I never clicked on a video so fast!! Tokyo Ghoul is one of my favorite animes of all time next to Death Note. The way TK embodies the main character with all his anguish and uncertainty of being half hunan half ghoul against his will. Ive never seen a singer portray a character so beautifully just from his voice alone. His voice gives me chills every time.

Love the reactions man! :) TK has such a unique voice. There is another performance of his on THE FIRST TAKE with a song called Copy Light. I also recommend that one :)

He has so many great songs also with the band, they have good songs. Check out another one of his first take performances, he plays his guitar in that one, it is a slower one, but so emotional.

I absolutely love this version of the song, with just the piano and strings 🖤

Since you've already watched babymetal and they're amazing performance. It amazes me how many male fans attend and participate in singing for these little girls. I remember beside them I used to watch another good group of 2 girls and one unusual member(they'recalled ladybaby). Who could of thought it was a success. It blow my mind. That person left now ,replaced by two new girls. Well I suggest you watch their old songs first then their new version. Some people still like the new them.

Honestly, I don't know who sings higher, Craig Owens of Chiodos/D.R.U.G.S or TK. It's a question I've been asking myself for a long while now. I actually think they both use the same screaming technique (Vocal Fry) as hearing TK scream it's incredibly similar, especially Craig's old stuff. There's some wild talent in the Japanese Metal scene, some of the deathcore and harsher metal is outright stomach turningly good. Mind you, I listen to just about everything, so I'm well versed in J-Pop, J-Rock, etc. So this is all coming from someone who's a massive fan, hah.

Yeah, I found a video where 3 people didn't like his voice, but I don't think they got it at all. There should be a wavering like on the verge of tears, there should be a brokenness that tries to find healing, there should be a burst of anger that questions the validity of the world and why it is the way it is. The voice can't have a perfection to it, there must be the imperfection of humanity portrayed against the gentle and beautiful notes of the music.

Without question, this is a brilliant version. But I wish there was a collaboration between him and the band 'Asterism', who in my opinion have delivered the best instrumental cover of this song so far. 3 young musicians with tons of talent who are specialized in metal instrumentals.
