Metal Shark Introduces Swamp Shark All-Terrain Surface Drive

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

For more information visit www.metalsharkboats.com/swamp-...
The “Swamp Shark Drive” is an all-terrain propulsion system specially engineered and built for operation in extreme shallow water, riverine, and mud flat environments. The highly durable system will safely and reliably propel a vessel through dense vegetation, mud, and debris-strewn waters.
The Swamp Shark propulsion system consists of several key components: A CNC-cut, machined-steel surface drive, internal/external stabilizing hydraulics, and a specialized internal cooling system, all of completely original design.
Swamp Shark drives are currently available in configurations capable of handling up to 550 propshaft horsepower and 1,250 ft.-lbs. of torque, all while operating in extreme conditions. The specially-designed outdrive with custom cavitation plate features hydraulic power trim and steering, and its stainless steel surface-piercing propeller easily powers through mats of vegetation, bushes, or branches, while offering outstanding control on open water even at high speed.
A patented hydraulic / electric rebound system, which consists of actuators inside and outside of the vessel, allows the drive to smoothly and automatically adapt to conditions. When the drive impacts a solid object, such as a log, stump, or other submerged hazard, it swiftly “kicks up” so that the propeller will not be impacted. The system then exerts reverse pressure to instantaneously return the drive to its normal trim position as soon as the object has been cleared.
Swamp Shark features a fully self-contained, patent-pending, onboard keel cooling system, with no appendages beneath the hull and no need for overboard raw water. This allows for smooth operation over underwater obstacles and allows a Swamp Shark-propelled vessel to traverse shallow, vegetation-clogged water or even loose mud with no cooling issues. The highly-efficient system cools engine oil, power steering and transmission fluid, and also boost-air intercoolers for turbo or supercharged engines, all with no reliance on outside water.
Swamp Shark Drives are available in a range of sizes to accommodate a variety of gas and diesel-powered boats for military, commercial, and extreme recreational operators. Metal Shark is the exclusive OEM installer of Swamp Shark Drives for military and government agencies.
Established in 1986, Gravois Aluminum Boats LLC, and its government/commercial boat entity Metal Shark Boats are leading suppliers of custom boats for defense, law enforcement, and commercial entities. Key customers include the United States Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force, Army, foreign militaries, law enforcement agencies, passenger vessel operators, pilot associations, fire departments, and other operators worldwide. Under the direction of its owner/operator Allard and Gravois families, Metal Shark has produced over 500 vessels in the past three years at its two fully self-contained South Louisiana production facilities. Metal Shark produces a wide range of custom monohull and catamaran vessels up to 250’. metalsharkboats.com.

    kzread.info/dash/bejne/mn192Nppaa_gnqQ.html I doubt these guys are up to anything cute. That video is close up enough to explain everything. I'm impressed with the package. It looks like I could use the shark to convert boats from jet pump drive, with minimal effort. I can't say whether they can produce these things in masses to meet your multi million dollar demands, but they seem to be doing well. I think there would be sizable market for converting popular Berkly and Jacuzzi drives for performance and utility river boats.

    This why I love the people here in southern Louisiana. They took a problem like getting around in a bayou and engineered a system that is superior to any other product. That don't mean I'm bashing the established mud motor companies, I'm saying now there is a new and amazing machine that'll give us all more options. Ok, a really badass kicking butt option. I saw that sequence when he was hauling butt down between the basin bridge but really couldn't see it from the roadway real good, but the beautiful sound of that engine was ear candy and then seeing the rooster tail..dang. I'll take one of each.

  • @MetalSharkBoats

    @MetalSharkBoats

    3 жыл бұрын

    We took several high-speed passes over a large semi-submerged log in this video with barely a bump. You'll see the footage at about 1:17. We then switch to a GoPro shot of the drive at the moment of impact and it's barely noticeable (approx 1:26). There's no prop guard. The patented Rebound System, which consists of actuators inside and outside of the vessel, allows the Swamp Shark drive to smoothly and automatically adapt to conditions. When the drive impacts a solid object, such as a log, stump, or other submerged hazard, it swiftly and smoothly “kicks up” so that the propeller will not be impacted (the leading edge of the skeg features a special radius designed to facilitate quick and smooth passage over any objects it encounters). The Rebound System then exerts reverse pressure to instantaneously return the drive to its normal trim position as soon as the object has been cleared. A schematic of the drive and other information can be found here: www.metalsharkboats.com/swamp-shark/

  • @MetalSharkBoats

    @MetalSharkBoats

    One key difference is the patented hydraulic / electric rebound system, which consists of actuators inside and outside of the vessel, that allows the drive to smoothly and automatically adapt to conditions. When the drive impacts a solid object, such as a log, stump, or other submerged hazard, it swiftly and smoothly “kicks up” so that the propeller will not be impacted (the leading edge of the skeg has been radiused to facilitate quick and smooth passage over any objects it encounters). The rebound system then exerts reverse pressure to instantaneously return the drive to its normal trim position as soon as the object has been cleared. In the video, at around 1:15 and again at 1:20, we make a couple of high-speed passes over a floating log. Then, you see the same pass as captured from a Go-Pro camera mounted on the transom. You can see the drive pop up briefly. On a conventional surface drive, this kind of impact would likely shear a blade off the prop. We'll post some more videos that show this a bit better. The drive can easily absorb and react to impacts that would cause catastrophic damage to conventional systems.

    @@MetalSharkBoats Well, you explained that a bit more technical than I did on your behalf to another viewer above. lol But I think I got the same principal function explained. You have taken the concept of an off road suspension system and applied it to a marine prop drive with skids or "skeg". Which is brilliant.
