this was actually in 2014! The reason it's called "Legend 1997" is because they were celebrating SuMetal's birthday, as she was born in 1997!

Welcome to BABYMEYAL, Korea doesn't have anything like this, Europe and America doesn't either, only in Japan. Three teenage girls with a backing band of some of the very best musicians Japan has, who have multiple world tours and awards, 4 albums now over 70 songs and only started in 2010 aged 12 and 11! The true power of the Fox God you will witness.

They are Japanese. Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) singer is 16 yo - Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) are 14 yo. They have been performing on stage since they were 6 yo. This concert was in 2013, Babymetal was created in 2010. The Kami band is their touring band and have traveled the world performing because of 3 teenage girls! They were the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley Arena, London; sold-out the LA Forum in 2019 and sold-out the Tokyo Dome 2 night running, capacity 55,000. They just finished their US tour. They have been touring the US since 2016. Japan is the #2 music market in the world. Kpop groups create Japanese versions of their songs. Something Current - "Monochrome".

Baby Metal was truly a new genre of metal, called kawaii, or "cute metal", which blended heavy metal with J-Pop influences. This concert is from 2013 and is called Legend 1997 Apocalypse because the lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto a/k/a Su-Metal was born in 1997 and this was the day after her 16th birthday. The group originally started working on the style in 2010 when Su was 13 and Yui and Moa were 11. Their first video came out in 2011 and over the last 12 years or so have become a truly global sensation. They also have added in other genres during the years to give a fresh twist to their sound. I just saw them September 15th in NYC during their 2023 US Tour and it was pretty amazing. There's a lot to take in here but you will find your journey a fun one. I think the best song to react to next is Road of Resistance-Live In Japan from a 2015 concert. It is truly an event not to be missed. Enjoy the ride.

1997 is the year Su Metal was born although very late in the year December 20th. The other girls Yui and MOA are 14yo in this video. This concert celebrated Su's 16th birthday she's in her mid twenties now and BABYMETAL is as popular as ever.

Damn, you really get it!! The only parts you got wrong (which has already been pointed out) is the year (1997 is the year the main signer Su was born) and the K-Pop (they are Japanese). But since you already react to K-Pop, makes sense you would think they were also. They have over 60 songs/videos, mixing J-Pop with pretty much every metal (and non-metal) genres out there. They really are an eclectic group, no two songs are the same. just subscribed to experience your journey down the Fox Hole. Enjoy!!

The song is a homage to YOSHIKI from XJapan, they brought Visual Kei to the masses. The end with the steam and the collapsing members as well as the gong is demonstrating him collapsing behind the drums, running through the crowd and with his last strength smashing the instrument.

Note on X Japan. If you remember Michael Jackson, he was a big fan of X Japan. He saw them in concert and the drummer Yoshiki was wearing a wrist guard. MJ thought it looked cool but Yoshiki told him that he broke his wrist and needed it to play. MJ was impressed and Yoshiki gave it to him as a present. MJ wore that wrist brace when he performed in honor of his friend Yoshiki.

Welcome to the Foxhole! 🤘🦊🤘 Most of the truly important information has been or will be given in other comments, so I like to give the fun titles and nicknames given by The ONE (Babymetal’s Fan-base) as well as other (un)important information. BABYMETAL started as an experimental sub-unit of the larger school-themed JPop/JRock group Sakura Gakuin. Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess. Posseses the most infamous metal death stare as seen during the breakdown in this song. Before Sakura Gakuin, she performed in a stage production of "The Adventurers" and was a member of the JPop trio, Karen Girls. Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Former member since 2018: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Tomato Princess, Tomato-Kun, Kawaii Princess and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul). Yui had a minor role as a child actor in a Japanese TV Drama before joining Sakura Gakuin. She has cute, chubby cheeks. Fun Fact: Yui is tickled by Bullfrogs. ** WARNING ** Do NOT, ever, under any circumstances call her “small”, "smol", “short” or “tiny” (same rule applies to Moametal). Moa Kikuchi\Moametal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Love\Smile, Queen of Hearts, Princess Moa, Kawaii Princess, Super Moa-chan, Maiden of Mischief, and Headmistress of Hedabon. She has huge dimples and a smile that melts the hardest of hearts. Posseses an awesome metal death smirk. You will have to watch Headbanger live at Legend M 2019, aka "Moabanger" to see it. Fun Fact: Loves to troll Su-metal on-stage with little pranks as well as torment Su-metal with Bullfrogs. Momoko Okazaki\Momometal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Joy, Kawaii Princess, Princess Peach, Vampire Slayer, Kabuki Queen. Also a Sakura Gakuin graduate. Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from early on) and performed in a stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only “Avenger” (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot! Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making dead-pan jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch. BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) some of which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure. Now that Momometal is a member, we are hoping for more BBM songs with MoMoa! But only the Fox God knows. AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021. They were: Momoko Okazaki (see above). Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the JPop Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist. Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin and like Yui, was considered arguably the best dancer during her time in SG. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel, likely due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and the then developing @onefive. We are #notacult. Kitsune Da O! 🤘🦊🤘

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journey.🦊🤘🔥 Nice reaction, I'm glad you got this suggestion, pretty soon you'll get a lot of BM fans flooding in your comments to help you out with everything about them, but one of things you gotta know is that live performance is when they always really shine, you won't get the blaster sound of the live band in the studio album, not even the same musicians, some tracks are nice either way but the core way to experience this, is at live concerts, they bring the best live shows with top notch production. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop (not Kpop) with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. The name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 25. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24, next December 20th she'll get 25. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. This song was part of the Babyklok Tour in the US and currently at the Europe & UK Tour, everyone love this song and are having a blast with the girls headbanging real hard in the middle section. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind. Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. This was at Legend 1997 (that's the title of this live concert referring to SuMetal birthyear) in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are: - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad - "Babymetal Death", be ready for this insane ending, The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The statue behind is SuMetal resemblance and is a tribute to Metallica's Lady Justice. The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan. Another thing that you don't see so much here in their live performance is, when YuiMetal and MoaMetal are having fun with cryo or smoke gun, the choreography on this part is with them down on their knees and doing the "dogeza hedoban" which is like bowing down back and forth summoning the metal spirit represented by the neckbrace while SuMetal is standing with the mic rise up and her relentless death stare, that's another moment we called -NotACult- The Kami Band here are insane set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, "kami" means roughly "god", they're wearing burial white robes and corpse face paint to represent those spiritual entities. They rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists). They are: - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. (R.I.P.) - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums tracks. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday". - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. Right now they are touring with another complete different set of musicians, we called them Western Kami Band, they've been playing with them since 2019, so the Kami Band musicians aren't official members and the girls are the only front women of this group. If YT allow me, I'm gonna leave in my next comment where to get safe clips to react since sometimes is very hard to watch some of their vids. See you next time!🦊🤘🔥

Here's the list of live performance clips safe to reacts without any filters, usually, there are some exceptions: - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo. "BabyMetal Fans Ecuador" and "アカツキBabymetal" got the Black Night version (the safest one) - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014. "Kawaii Metal" got this. - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997. There's a widescreen with subtitles version at "Kitsune Sama". - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one. You can find this with the introduction translated at "GuilhermeCait". - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do. - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this clip with a short interview intro. - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. GuilhermeCait got it safe to react. - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday). Another one in "Kawaii Metal". - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live. "Kitsune Sama" got this version. If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 is the choice at "Kawaii Metal". - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal. "Gans Tomas" got this. - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, then live at Budokan 2014 is the best choice at "BM REMASTERED". - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts. "BABYMETAL FANS ECUADOR" got this one. - Distortion, live at Download Festival 2018 or Rock Am Ring 2018, this is from Metal Galaxy 3rd album and is a safe jump to that BM era way different than the rest and without YuiMetal. - Gimme Chocolate!! live at Stephen Colbert Show. ...

Nice one, easy like and subscribe. Your reaction showcases one aspect of babymetal that is underrated, and that is their ability to draw people to get interested in metal. I was never a metal guy before even do I love rock and hard rock but never was listening to metal. I was not deaf to it , i was aware of the bands and songs just that I would never choose to listen to it in the comfort of my home. Babymetal changed all of that, it brought so much new music and bands to my life and I will be eternal grateful for that. I even dig and love growls now (but that is Nemophila fault). Hope you continue on your journey my man. Good luck.

First of all I loved your reaction. One of life's little pleasures is seeing somebody who really "gets it" view Babymetal for the first time. You've already-no doubt-heard this a few dozen times but as a responsible fan I do have to say, Babymetal are Japanese not Korean. Sorry it contractural. Babymetal are still going strong and as they've matured their music has evolved with them. Among their many amazing super powers truly is their crowd control. That a 16 year old and two 14 year old teenage girls can command a stage and audience like this still blows my mind. They have so much great, memorable music. Their mv's are incredibly well done. That said for the full Babymetal experience you cannot go wrong with their LIVE performances. Again just a joy watching your face as you watched Babymetal. Welcome to the foxhole my friend-you'll figure that out. Best wishes.

My favorite song and live performance! However, the girl on the left towards in the beginning of this clip, Yui unfortunately left the group in 2018. No wonder you were surprised for a moment at 2:43, Yui was a being of such an unworldly cuteness and fragility, a representative Japanese beauty girl. Her dancing was top-notch, her hair was as voluminous as in this video, and the way her hair swung at this point, it was done on purpose.

Man I never listen to baby metal on like purpose but everytime I do hear something from them ..... man they go HARD, it'd be sick to see them live one day. They play amazing, technical, pure metal and all those butthurt metal fans saying baby metal ain't "real" metal are just so hurt in their little egos that these small girls are so much more metal than they could ever be. Babymetal fucking slams. On another note, love that you're calling yourself a metal newbie. Did we manage to pull someone new into the scene? I really hope so, the genre is so vast, you gotta find something you enjoy if you search long enough. Much love!

To introduce 'Team BM': The classic era (I'll say 2013-2017) consists of lead singer Su-Metal plus side singers Moametal & Yuimetal. The classic Kami Band (typically only 4 musicians per gig) consists of guitarists Takayoshi Ohmura, Leda Cygnus, Mikio Fujioka (who filled in when Ohmura or Leda were busy) & ISAO (who succeeded Mikio); bassist BOH; drummer Hideki Aoyama & Yuya Maeta (who filled in for Aoyama). 2018 was a troubled year when Yui skipped gigs & eventually left due to an undisclosed illness/injury. Mikio, a keen astronomer, also died after falling from an observation deck. BM decided to continue promoting as a duo for the next few years, initially using 5 temp dancers AKA The Chosen Seven (Minako, Minami, Saya, Kotono, Shoko together with Su/Moa) for the remaining 2018 gigs. In 2019, they switched to a backup trio AKA The Avengers (Riho, Kano, Momo) to perform as the third member. That year, a Kami Band West (guitarists Chris Kelly & CJ Masciantonio; bassist Clint Tustin, drummer Anthony Barone) was also formed to handle BM's overseas gigs, with the Japanese musicians (renamed Kami Band East) covering the domesic gigs & pursuing their own projects. Other important 'Team BM' members would be music producer Kobametal, dance choreographer Mikkometal, & concert sound engineer Hidefumi Usami. Momo (Momometal) was eventually promoted in 2023 as Yui's permanent replacement. The upcoming Japan gigs in early March are already billed as 'Legend MM' to celebrate her 21st birthday, & she will likely get to co-sing lead on Headbanger with the changed lyrics ('the special night of my twentieth' as Su had in 2017 & Moa in 2019 to celebrate theirs. The original lyrics ("my fifteenth") was also sung by Su in 2013 (this video) plus Yui (Paris) & Moa (Cologne) in 2014 during their younger birthdays. Ages 15 (end of compulsory education) & 20 (coming of age) are life milestones in Japanese culture.

Japanese, NOT Korean. Welcome to the “foxhole” of Babymetal! (Definitely NOT a cult). You should look at their video for Road of Resistance live. You’ll see how they control the crowd there too. I’ve seen this band live 11 times and they’re amazing live. Even better when you’re in the middle of their audience than watching it on video. Their headline shows are incredible. You need to see them when it’s their audience, not a shared audience as you need the full Babymetal experience of being in amongst thousands of other moshing, screaming and singing fans.

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊They are Japanese and started as a fusion of JPop (not KPop, that is Korean) with Metal in 2010. This video was recorded at their 'Legend 1997' concert in December 2013 celebrating lead singer Su-metal's 16th birthday (she was born in 1997). The other two girls, Yuimetal and Moametal, were both 14. Su-metal is an amazing vocalist - and she doesn't need to growl or scream to be metal, she can master so many different vocal styles ... and the more of their songs you hear the more you will see just how versatile and what a great lead person she is. 'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but it is also a coming of age thing. 15 is when compulsory education ends in japan, so the girl is realising life will never be the same, she is no longer a child, so she is etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget. It is not biographical - they first recorded this song in 2012 when Su was 14, Yui and Moa were still only 12. BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, they don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world, they are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music). BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but as you saw in this performance it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on. BABYMETAL are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement. In 2014 they started to tour outside of Asia and Japan for the first time coming to Europe and the US and since then they have won new fans all over the world and become internationally the most successful Japanese band ever and one of the very best live bands on the planet right now (and they have about 30 international awards to prove that is not just my own opinion) - their 3rd album released in 2019 was the first by any Asian group to reach number 1 in the US Billboard Hard Rock charts. They have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal (not just JPop), often when you least expect it. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it. You already have some great suggestions in the comments below for more song - expect the unexpected.

BabyMetal was the gateway drug for lots of us. For me it happened in 2013 and eventually led to me finding my favorite band, BAND MAID. The J-Music hole is very, very, VERY deep. Japan has been the epicenter for HR/HM for quite a while. If you like metal, bands like Hanabie and Nemophila will blow your mind. If symphonic metal is your thing there are bands like Unlucky Morpheus and Aldious. Child Prodigies like HAL-CA from Asterism or JUNNA. If you just want to rock out there is the aforementioned BAND MAID, TRiDENT, Gacharic Spin ... so many and they all feature super-talented musicians. There is literally something for everyone. I am not the hugest BabyMetal fan anymore, but reactions to them are always the best. Even after all these years (since 2010) people are still shocked at their style of kawaii metal.

Actually, this concert was performed on Dec. 21, 2013 at Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, Japan just outside of Tokyo in front of around 9,000 fans; the 1997 is a reference to the lead singer's birth year - it was one hell of a birthday party!!! The “WTF did I just watch” reaction is typical among first-time BABYMETAL viewers. A lot of their songs tend to get that reaction - even after watching a few of them! Anyway . . . . You’ve opened a can of worms! BABYMETAL has been around for a bit over twelve years now (they started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (or the “Greek chorus” as I like to call them - officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the band in 2018, and only earlier this year Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer. BABYMETAL is not K-pop (Korea) or J-pop (Japan, where they’re from) or even J-metal; BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. If you have a notion to check out more BABYMETAL, I suggest you go back to the beginning, and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay"), both released in 2012. In fact, here's a list of recommended songs along with the best versions on YT (IMO): Doki Doki Morning (official music video) Iine! (official MV) Gimme Chocolate!! (official MV or Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) Megitsune (official MV) BABYMETAL Death (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) Onedari Daisakusen (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) Song 4 No Uta (Budokan Black Night 2014 version) Uki Uki * Midnight (Budokan Black Night 2014 version) Catch Me If You Can (Budokan Black Night 2014 version) Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Live at Sonisphere 2014 version) Road of Resistance (Legend 2015 New Year Fox Festival version) Karate (official MV) Meta Taro (Five Fox Festival version) GJ! (Fox Festival 2017 version) Sis Anger (Fox Festival 2017 version) Shanti Shanti Shanti (official MV) Pa Pa Ya!! (official MV) BxMxC (official MV) Metalizm (official MV) Metali!! (official MV) I would include the links but, for some reason, KZread sometimes thinks I'm posting spam and will delete my comment. For the links, see the KZread playlist “BABYMETAL Top Twenty”; it is a mix of MV’s and live performances, is more or less in historical sequence, and could be considered a road map down the BABYMETAL foxhole. If nothing else, it can be used as a reference to find high quality versions of BABYMETAL songs without mucking about - if they are on the list. Sorry about the wall! Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!) KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

Good reaction. Welcome to the crazy universe of BabyMetal. BabyMetal is an atypical heavy metal group, because they are idols. In Japan, idols are often paired with pop music (Jpop), and Babymetal was actually a subgroup of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin. Sakura was made up of girls between 10 and 15 years old dedicated to Jpop. When SuMetal (the singer) started she was 12 years old and MoaMetal/YuiMetal (the backup singers) were only 10 years old. Sakura represented the Japanese high school and the girls were distributed in clubs (traditional Japanese extracurricular activities such as cooking, swimming, basketball, sewing, etc.). One of the producers, a lover of heavy metal, saw that Su's singing could perfectly be used in metal and asked permission from the Mother House (Amuse) to create the heavy music club, proposing an experiment in fusion between metal and the pop. Nobody, as they themselves have confessed, had much hope for its outcome, but they gave it the green light and thus BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin's heavy music club, was born. The first songs were intended for girls between 10 and 15 years old, who were Sakura's target audience. However, their quality and the fusion between pop and metal attracted attention beyond this audience and they began to frequent their metal concerts... a shocking audience of children and metalheads. And it worked, it worked so well that they began to support groups like Metallica, Red Hot, BMTH or Lady Gaga, I seem to remember, on their tours in Japan. And the Red Hot singer commented that he was impressed to realize that part of the public came to see them, not them. And so the base of BabyMetal fans grew. Sakura was a group in which, upon turning 15, the members had to leave (to pursue their careers elsewhere) and the producer (KobaMetal) requested permission again to create BabyMetal as an independent group. Success was already beginning to become a reality in Asia, so they authorized it, although Moa and Yui (they were still 13 years old) would also continue to be part of other Sakura clubs (I don't know when the poor girls studied, but they did). In 2014 a milestone would arrive in the group's history. They were already an established metal group in Asia that sold out concerts, but they had not yet made the leap to the West. In that year his song "Gimme Chocolate" rose to fame on KZread (currently 182M views) and attracted the attention of the producers of the Sonisphere festival. KobaMetal had doubts about taking the step, since their musical proposal (Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal, a genre of which they are considered creators) might not be accepted in the West and the metalheads who went to the Sonisphere had a reputation for saying goodbye to very bad manners to the artists they didn't like (even with bottles full of urine), but they were offered to go to one of the secondary stages (about 5000 spectators) and they ended up accepting. But the success of BabyMetal on KZread and the fact that all the concerts they were going to give in Europe were sold out in a few days, convinced the producers to take them to the main stage, where they would share with groups like Metallica, for example. How many girls (they were between 16 and 14 years old at that time) were "terrified" before going out, and they didn't know what scared them more: that they wouldn't understand their music and they would have to run away or that when they went out on stage it would be empty. . But the story was very different, not only was it not empty, but more than 50,000 metalheads, an estimated 95% of whom had never heard of them, finished their fifth and last song chanting "another one, another one." And that's how they achieved popularity in the West as well. They currently have 4 albums on the market: -Babymetal (2013): Their first album and the most childish of all, since they were between 15-13 years old when it came out and had energetic, positive music that left a smile on their faces. Headbangers is from this album. -Metal Resistence (2016): an album that, without losing the essence of the first, shows more mature music, going from childhood to adolescence. Songs like Karate were a large part of his presentation in the West. -Metal Galaxy (2018): a turning point in its style. Without abandoning their energy, they turned their attention to new forms of metal fusion (hip-hop, dance music, Hindu music or European folklore, among others), projecting a much more mature music in keeping with their age, which was already around 21 years old. of Su and the 18 of Moa (unfortunately Yui left the group due to health problems) And now in 2023 they have just released their new album "The Other One", which is, again, totally different from what they have done until now (one of the hallmarks of BabyMetal is that their songs are usually very different some from others (although they are all positive adrenaline releases) Currently BabyMetal is considered the most important Heavy Metal group in Japan (I'm not saying the best, that's for everyone to decide) and the most influential in history in the West (it has reached levels that no other Japanese heavy group has reached before). ). The journey through the Babymetal galaxy may be long, but it is certainly entertaining and with a few songs it drags you with a smile into the fox hole.
