She has a show called Palette online. When Suga came on they did this song and he didn't just do the rap but he sang on the chorus as well. His singing voice is truly enthralling. She can do anything vocally, incredible focus and also technique, I'd break down guaranteed. 💜

@@Killdeer25 yay i loved their episode! they're both born in 1993 and are friends so there's an ease between them and they tease each other a lot which is always fun. She had J-Hope over and V too when they were doing their promotions for their solo albums. You've surely also been told Suga has a show as well, Suchwita, he had her over in last month's episode, really really interesting to hear her talk about starting out as a 15 year old and growing to adulthood in this industry. 💜

Such a beautiful and nuanced song with layers of bittersweet under the hopefulness. Just an absolute favorite. They both did such a beautiful job both honoring her lost friends and having to move on in life without them. But without forgetting them. It’s always struck me that the one she reached out to about this is Suga.

It’s funny because she reached out to Yoongi to get Namjoon’s number to collab. While Namjoon is a poet with his lyrics, I’m glad it ended up being Yoongi. His openness with mental health made it even more fitting to be on this song.

She's never said it explicity, but all the fans in the loop know this song addressed the loss of three idols who were close friends of hers. Personally, Hara was the idol that attracted me to k-pop 13 years ago. She and IU actually auditioned together as trainees, and in 2019 IU found out mid-concert that Hara passed away. She still came back for the encore to console everyone even though you could see how broken she was.

Unfortunately IU has experienced another such loss. In 2018 she was the leading female in the kdrama My Mister opposite Lee Sun Kyun, the Academy Award winng actor of the movie Parasite, which became the 1st foreign language film to win the Best Picture Academy award in 2019. Lee Sun Kyun committed suicide in late December on last year, in a rather bizarre case involving a police drug investigation, police leaking information to the media and at least 2 others who have been arrested for blackmail. IU has said that he was like a big brother to him. My Mister is one of the most popular kdrama's and is actually how I first came across IU. I have completely fallen in the IU rabbit hole. When IU tookmover control of her music her songs and MV became much more involved and her MV's became a vehicle for her to give greater depth and meaning to the story she was telling. Some stories have multiple songs tied to them at time crossing a number of years. For example her song You & I about a relatiinship with a hoy in a coma, where IU uses information left by her grandfather to build a time machine. This MV came out in 2011. She sets the date to Dec. 31st 2019. In Dec of 2019 she releases a single from her new album Love Poem call Above the time, where she and the boy are in the same time but in different dimensions. Included on this album is what is considered part 3 of the story Blueming. Where they are both now in the same time and dimension but separated by a fence. The MV of Blueming helps in understanding this part of the story, and her concert performance of it during her Love Poem concert in Seoul tells you more about the person, performer, singer IU.

It is very beautiful song. And MV is cute but hounting in a way when you 'know'... Bc it is sunny but with pain and nostalgia. When you don't think about lyrics it us great everyday song but when you kmow lyrics and what behind it always gives the pang in heart but it is also everyday thing, especially when you think about some memories.

This is one of my favourites. Makes me cry or tear up every time I hear it, even just because of how beautiful the song sounds without knowing context. But I suppose the emotion shines through in the music either way. Just sonically I love it so much though, there's something about it that makes me feel like I'm floating, and warm? Again I don't know how to describe it well. Interestingly, her song Strawberry Moon has a similar effect on me, though that one isn't sad so it's a bit different obviously, but in both songs IU really manages to sweep me away. Sweep me off my feet? Something like that haha An "8" on its side is of course the infinity symbol, like how she sings "forever young", but she also released this song when she was 28, which fits with her releasing songs that reference her age at the time, like Every End of the Day (from the album "Spring of a Twenty Year Old"); Twenty-Three; Palette (you'll get that one when you her it); and also Lilac which was meant to be a goodbye to her 20s. She also opened her 2022 concert "The Golden Hour: Under the Orange Sun" with this song, eight. It was so beautiful (they showed the concert in cinemas around the world, where I saw it, because unfortunately I couldn't be in Seoul, but it was the next best thing 😊)

YES! this song has been one of my personal favorites of hers thus far as well, I think she just has a great understanding of how to add just the right amount of emotions where it is necessary, honestly it is a very rare talent to be able to do that. I do think that she is just really good at feeling airy? if that makes sense, I always get done feeling like that after one of her songs. honestly I think there is two things that I have noticed about IU, one is she likes train imagery a lot, two she talks a lot of passing of time and aging, and three you never know what kinda song your going to get when she sings lol! I would like to see her stuff, I didnt see any ads for that here, I guess my theaters are just lame

Unfortunately for me the only Europe dates are London and Berlin, which is like a 5-7 hour trip for me, but I'm honestly considering it haha. Yes! I personally think they blend together well. When you watch Suchwita with IU, they go deeper into their music making process. So interesting. And a bit silly:) I feel alot of our fave musicians or artists start with such quiet dreams of creating. And as they create, life moments of course hit as well. And when they put those moments into words or sounds, something beautiful can be created. They both did this here💜

Grief is such a hard thing to endure. That song brought the mood down LOL, not you. I know what you mean, it's the worst thing I've had to go through, so I stay away from sad songs. I love adels voice, but wow, can she sing a song that doesn't have a sad ending or some angst? LOl personally, I go to music to cheer up , give me strength, or just have a bit of fun. IU was on Suga's talk show, and I found her pleasant and knowledgably about music, but very closed off and far away from anything really personal. She seems like a person who might have had a rough go in life and is fighting?

im not a deep fan of iu i just casually listen to her so im not familiar with her entire discography or any storylines or even her journey etc but it all clicked for me since ive been a army since 2018 so ive been aware of many kpop things even without stanning anyone besides bts you just pick up on a lot since theres multis and just fan crossovers or fans of one group/artist who posts recommendations or when something big happens the entire industry basically shuts down which leads to all the fan communities also going to a stand still. i wasnt here in 2017 when Jonghyun passed but heard of him and how many idols he was close with. then i was here in 2019 when sulli and hara passed and it was heartbreaking. when bts released map of the soul 7 the song UGH! i didnt truly get the song i felt like there was something deeper there. and then eight solidified it. i wondered why they were so angry i know bts story and there was just something that wasnt clicking because i wasnt seeing the final layer it wasnt just about internet trolls, fandoms even other idols or underground rappers hating on them it was deeper and it wasnt clicking i knew that. then when eight came out i finally understood ugh so much deeper and i sobbed. it felt like suga and bts took the role of protecting iu in a way as well as many other idols like they were standing up for all the idols being the ones at the top putting their foot down to say enough is enough. im a woman i understand women dont need men to protect them and that we are strong on our own but still it felt very intentional how ugh was released first and this 'theory' if we can even call it that has just gotten stronger since 2020 and now seeing just how close iu is with all of bts especially suga and V. idk im just so happy she has someone because like i said my only knowledge of her is her music and her friends who passed it seemed like she didnt have anyone anymore so im glad bts reached out. it seems when bts do something its very intentional to help the rest of the industry which was bang pds entire reason for making bighit. he worked at the big 3 and didnt like their way of doing things. many things positive things have been changing since bts got big. like a lot of music shows arent gonna be able to abuse their power anymore. just so many things have been coming out recently and its making the idol industry safer for idols. the very reason so many idols now take mental health breaks is due to bts impact they were one of if not the first ones to hire mental health professionals for bts and other artists and it seems other labels are taking note. i heavily suggest agust d Snooze if you havent reacted yet cause its suga talking to younger idols, trainees or just anyone looking to pursue a similar path. ugh used to make me angry now paired with eight makes me so emotional. i just hope iu is doing okay and she takes care of herself as does all the idols. i know we lost moonbin too as well as Lee Sun-kyun the actor from parasite recently and i just wish it would stop. i also understand its not just the idol/actor industry but all of korea that has this issue. they have the highest rate in the world among kids and teens. so of course it affects the entertainment industry too. i wish people would stop blaming things or people or shaming them for things they cant control and just work on improving support and mental health/addiction resources and compassion. it seems at least a lot more idols are talking together and trying to build community unlike before when there was a period where idols didnt interact unless in the same label or the same gender. its slowly changing. sorry for ranting idk my point anymore im just i understand why these things happen just wish it didnt and that people especially in the west like our media and overall kpop fans would stop blaming the industry because not everything is simply the industry many things are built into their culture and society as a whole and doesnt fix the overall sources and makes it seem like its only the celebrities we should care about not the whole population etc example it was incels who targeted sulli so it wasnt the kpop idustry at fault for her and it was the police and govt who targeted Lee Sun-kyun not everything is a simple answer of the "kpop industry".

I think thats whats awesome about these two, they see whats bad about where they are and it feels like they are actively trying to change things
