Smashlord 3 I think he means how they both represent the idea of ‘Big Boss’, that both acknowledge that the idea of a legendary soldier is silly and meaningless- especially considering he killed his mentor for the name ‘Big Boss’. So yes, Venom and Named are both Big Boss, but they are different people entirely.

Yea that made me cry when i played it + the peacewalker music and they are doing that stand. You can see they respect you. I wished we had the button from mgo to do it back. But after this mission i began getting in to demon snake. I build a nuke and became him.

Actually, most of the decisions were made by Ocelot and Kaz and Venom just went along, the only real decisions made by Venom are letting Quiet and child soldiers live in motherbase, sparing Huey instead of killing the bastard,... Venom keeping quiet through most of the game because he is as confused and oblivious as the player, there are hints of his own personality in making decisions as i mentioned, you should read wikipedia, it's pretty detailed in comparing Venom and Naked Snake's personality. By the time Venom spared Huey's life, the brainwash had pretty much lessen by a degree, as he's starting to realize he is not who he is supposed to be

That was generally seen as the point where he goes crazy, but it is actually the part where he reaffirms his dedication to his men. It's tragic, but the whole Diamond thing warms the cockles. What leads up to that point, though, is pure nightmare fuel.

One of the saddest moments in the videogame history. My mother loves watching me playing Metal Gear Solid, because she love the history and persons of the game. She cried in this scene. Greatest game! Greetings from Brazil!

"We live and die by your Order Boss" and the MGS: Peacewalker Theme in the background and them saluting until the last head hits the floor. Everytime you kill one of them you get the message "Staff member has died". Many manly tears were shed. This was worse than shooting The Boss in MGS3. I will remember this mission for years to come.

In short TLOU2 forces you to be a shitty person for plot progression and “deepness” whereas MGSV: TPP makes you do it because while it’s bad to kill those loyal to you like sick dogs it’d be worse if you rewarded their loyalty and service to you with a slow and agonizing death.

Such a powerful scene. That burial by the sea.

This was by far the best and most meaningful sequence of the game (out of the few ones), alongside with the Hospital Escape. We cared for our comrades, not only because they're part of your staff, but because there is an gameplay mechanic being affected that makes you NOT want to shoot your crew. So it all worked really well in my opinion. Plus the guys saluting you with the Peace Walker theme in the back (witch you can collect).

This mission was really hard to play through. Mainly because you had to kill your own men. Specially the men that saluted you even in the face of death was even harder to go through with.....

When your best friends got the Corona virus.

The sniffle at 17:11 is what makes this game great. Sure there are not many cut scenes but all of them have excellent detail and deep meaning. Congradulations Kiefer Sutherland you are above even David Hayter I here by award you the title of Big Boss.

Every shot was like a nail in my heart.....

I really wish this game could have reached its full potential. This is one on my most favorite games ever, but given all the time it needed it would have just been so much more incredible. That's the real phantom pain.

When a game predicts the future Fun fact Death Stranding did the same thing.

Diamond dogs humming the peace walker theme saluting the boss the knowing they will be shot is what hits the heart for me.

I'm really glad they got an actor the caliber of Kiefer Sutherland to play snake. I like David Hayter as much as the next guy but can you honestly imagine him pulling off a scene like this?

Well he doesn't. It was a big point of conversation between him and the boss, she was pretty surprised. I think kojima meant that to be a reference to the fact that snakes senses were limited to the player's. But it also functions as canon, kojima never was one to disregard details. Like the one where naked snake can speak fluent russian but this big boss can't.

I wish you didn't cut out the scene of the whole room saluting him and saying they live and die by his orders. That was the worst (and best) part of this whole mission.

i've got to say, i've been disapointed witht he story of mgs5, though given my dislike for peace walkers story I was expecting it. But there are some brilliant scenes in the game, this one is one of the best scenes the entire series has made especially if you focused on motherbase alot like i have been, the reactions of all the soldiers is heartbreaking, especially the group that salutes you and waits for you to kill them all, made sure to read every single one of their names before pullin the trigger.

+That guy Actually, not a lot was cut. The only thing that was cut was "resolution" to Eli and the Psycho Mantis Jr's stories, and we already know their stories because of the other MGS games. The true ending doesn't invalidate Venom's work, because the point was to throw those hunting Big Boss off his trail, while also spreading his name and fame. I disagree that it doesn't feel like an MGS story, I think it feels very much like an MGS story, but I feel that's a matter of opinion.

MGSV didn't need to be huge or ground breaking like MGS3 or some other metal gear solid. Its a prequel for fuck sakes, I heard MGS4 was the ending so whats the deal? This was probably one of the most depressing and unsettling scenes to watch. Knowing that your men have no hope of survival and they can only reach out for your help as you shoot them, its just really unsettling to watch. Whats even more depressing though? It seems like Big Boss doesnt even care, like he really is turning into a monster. Its just a shame that the game was left unfinished. Kojima really wanted to put in more to have it feel complete, but I dont doubt that Konami really put the pressure on him to get it out by release day.

Seeing as how an ideal soldier must be able to perform his task without getting emotional, BB in this scene had to grant his soldiers the mercy of death, but couldn't stop or else he too could die. But even this was able to break him when he hesitates to do some things, and just breaks down when he sees the hallway of dead soldiers

This was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in a video game, on top of everything, one of the infected was a soldier I regularly played as beside Snake, so when I had to kill her to just broke my heart, god that was insane

This mission made me cry, killing your own staff because of some parasite and knowing that Venom is realising what he’s done but does it for a reason

When you think about it, its kinda like the very first mission in hospital, but now you're the one who shoots

The cinematics in this game are stunning, its basically a movie

lol the moment when you get in that room and they all say "We live and die by your orders boss gave me the shivers.I almost cried knowing that I had to shoot them all with that epic song on the background :'( (forgot the name tho)

i love how there is actually a diamond in your arm when you play the game

this mission broke my heart by far the worst part was picking that lock and finding like fourteen of your guys inside that room awaiting your decision.

I cried after the mission fucking hurt doing this, especially the cutscene.

This is a mission that should be marked in game industry’s history

This was the most heart wrenching scene in any metal gear game hands down. It was the most emotional scene put down on paper for a video game. nothing will create the emotions i felt playing that mission. Just my opinion of course.

Thank God I can replay this mission without losing more staff.

for me, this is when the game came full circle. the opening scenes of slaughter in the hospital have come into mother base. this is skull face's revenge realized, making his men into phantoms.

What is the sound track called at 9:10

One of the most disturbing episodes in the game and one of the most disturbing levels I've ever played. Seriously this got to me, it's like Ground Zeroes. You spend hours building up Mother Base for it to be crippled. At least this time I get to keep 97% more of it

By the way, he cut out one of the most emotional scenes in the game (when you get to rescue the "not" infected guy) and thats actually awesome, that scene is too good to be spoiled by a video.

This was the hardest part of the game for me... These soldiers trust you, they would fight for and lay down their lives for you, and you are sent in with no other choice but to purge every carrier personally... I can't imagine what is going through their heads when they realize they can't be allowed to leave...
