    The fact that Big Boss himself shed a tear is very emotional. Even the toughest man, trained not to break by The Boss herself, had emotions as well. What an ending. It holds a very special place in our hearts.

    My ex died recently, she was buried yesterday. I have very conflicted feelings about her because we were together for a long time, there were good moments and bad alike. I visited her grave today and this song came to mind, it was very solemn but also marks the end of that chapter in my life, I have closure now.

    It's an amazing experience when you can go through a game like this, you feel as tough you've endured all the hardships along with Snake. All the battles, the pain, and the sorrows. By the time you reach the end, you feel all the emotions he is. Killing The Boss is one of the hardest things, I'm sure, many of us have had to do in a game. And you bet your ass, when I beat it on European Extreme, I stood up and saluted The Boss' grave along side Snake. May we never forget The Joy.....

    That SECOND build-up and crescendo, starting at 5:06, that hits SO hard. After he's been showered with accolades and granted the title Big Boss, he's standing alone at the cemetery in Arlington, and you feel the rage and emptiness consuming him. And it's in this quiet moment that everything, EVERYTHING is set in motion. Outer Heaven. Les Enfants Terrible. Metal Gear. ALL of it becomes cemented into inevitability in this private moment. Sends CHILLS down my spine!

  • @iWillWakeYouUp

    @iWillWakeYouUp

    That's where it's cemented, but not where it begins imo. To me, the genesis is at 1:00. Literally the Peace Walker theme. Having to salute and be showered with praise to finish his mission after what he's done is the biggest insult to injury.

    You can sum it the entire Big Boss's experience here with his fighting against Cobra Unit: He went out and held his "pain" after The Boss betrayed him. Conquered his "fear" to move forward. Determined his professionalism to reach the "end". Endured his "fury" for all things he had witnessed. Overcame his "sorrow" from all the tortures he had to endure. And killed his "joy" to finish the mission. Naked Snake, a tragic man...

    So important that even just listening to the music alone, without visuals, I cry every time. Because I remember everything I felt as I learned that the Boss never defected, as I was congratulated for killing her, for staying loyal to orders I didn’t know I had, and orders I knew were wrong. I don’t remember EVA’s monologue verbatim, but I remember the lines that hurt. And listening to this hurts all over again

  • @cjmania1980

    I’m not gonna lie. This moment got me all the time. I can’t even describe how many emotions it makes you go through. You feel sad for the boss, at the same time happy that she succeeded her mission, you’re disgusted for what the people whose BB shakes hands with did to the boss, but you understand that it was for everybody’s own good, and at the end of it, you feel stupid when big boss starts crying on the graveyard and you realize the good guy wasn’t who he thought. It’s not Solid Snake, nor Big Boss in fact.

    Not only is this the only game ending that moved me to tears, it's the only one I still get teary eyed at the end if. No game out there has had an ending so powerful that it redefines the games that came before it and shaped those that came after it.

    The Boss and Revolver Ocelot.....Mother and son.....the two greatest heroes of the whole Metal Gear Saga Everything they did, they did for the sake of others, in the end. And took stically all the hatred, the dishonor, the blame and even death We spent whole games hating them, just because they knew they could take it for the sake of their country and ultimately of the whole world Whatever happens, we will always remember them as the heroes they were. I think Big Boss after finding out how corrupt the government in his country was, to at first try to attemtp to get the philosophers legacy and then send in Snake to kill his mentor and friend. It kinda sent him off to think of them who did this as the enemy and he would later on hate them.

As there are soldiers that may not return home alive, but gave their lives to protect the freedoms we so lavishly carry on day to day. Do you feel the storm approach as the end draws near."
