I once saw a guy do a true stealth run on mgs2. Did not allow himself to be seen (even when they kind of see you and start to investigate), to touch, knock out, shoot or tranq any enemies at all (except bosses and the forced sections). I'm talking the whole thing, even the Emma part, he said something like "Make it as if I was never there". For the life of me I cannot find that video any more and I'm starting to believe that I might have imagined it, but it was the greatest run of any metal gear solid, perhaps any game I ever saw. Maybe you could recreate it as the ultimate challenge and I can stop thinking I'm insane.

A ghost run, I assume, is what it'd be called? The ones I'm finding don't really have commentary, and the one that says "ghost" that does have commentary does interact with guards.

@@johnthelion999 I remember it didn't have commentary the explaination was either in the description or at the start of the video. It was just a straight run from the beginning to end. I'm fairly sure I searched for 'ghost' and every other word I could think of. Honestly if anyone can find it link me up because it was spectacular.

@@freddyz3359 It seems the closest you'll find to a complete ghost run was done by "westwingfield", including the last part before the oil fence section of the escort mission (it just required exploiting the game a bit to get Emma to the other side of the room past the two guards). "Sappyjoker Gaming" did one with all the cutscenes, but that part he did take down those two guards (and provided an explanation in the description). "OddlerPro" has descriptions in his videos that are most similar to what you described, and seems to not have damaged even Emma unlike "westwingfield" (but did use magazines to distract the guards in that last part as mentioned prior). Not sure which of these three you've seen, but it's probably a safe bet it's one of them from what I've found.

the way The End just rounds that corner into a cloud of cig gas took me the fuck out lmfao. i've seen, i think, one other EE run by George Salonikh, also i think; i will never cease to be amazed by my fellow Metal Gear comrades and the tactics used

Respect! Now imagine being a 19 year old whose most immersive gaming experience previously was MGS2…this game was so freakin hard before they added the camera, but I stuck with it. Barely finished the game but I did. Good shit.

​​​​@@satanamogila9251honestly yes, i did my first playthrough last month, it's incredibly hard to spot guards & see where you're going. I struggled getting alerted left & right for days without even making it to The End. After I bit the bullet and ordered the Subsistence version it was smooth sailing all the way through. Took me 22 hours to complete the game on normal, which is the same amount of time i spent trying & failing on attempt 1

wow that might just be the smoothest ocelot unit takedown i have ever seen i have seen this section done so many times not to mention played it myself this was smooooooth man well done

Fun fact: the first time I played I also got zero kills since I was fresh off doing a non lethal run of Sons of Liberty. And I had no idea that you got The Sorrow's Camo put straight into your inventory. It was a game changer when I realised I had it and that it makes your footsteps silent. Also played through a few times without actually finding the Sneaking suit. Another game changer. The boss that I had the most difficulty with was definitely The Fury. The constant knock downs and treating burns is brutal.

Nice run your bosses are amazing. Especially the pain and the fury. I’m always blown away by how fast you and other runners can play. I try to copy the speed run videos and the fastest I’ve done is 1:35. That’s with saving a few times and playing safe in one or two rooms. I’m on a Xbox 360 and loading seems to take forever.

Question, for the bike chase sequence post Shagohod: Out of curiosity, is there a reason that you didn’t use Cold War camo? Assuming it’s less optimal (I know they will shoot you if your back is turned, unless they’re programmed to shoot when the camera isn’t on them) because I remember years ago using it just to bypass people shooting me. Amazing run too! I hardly get tired of MGS3, it’s a classic 😄 Post edit: nvm, looking at it from a speedrun perspective you’d have to go into the pause menu and change camo again, likely adding a few seconds during the same sequence you cure EVA

Yes and no. You can hit all the kerotans and achieve foxhound rank. But the foxhound rank is the only one that will show. I intend to do this run in the future and I will use the time stamps on the video to show that I got them all. Thank you greatly for watching my video!

When I play I always go for all the Kerotan Frogs and I think I might be that that nets me the Infinity Face Paint! I have had times where I miss a Face Paint, though, usually either the Water or Kubuki (I have a tendency to forget that first one...)! Question, though: What exactly did you do to take out The Fear so damned quick and why were you doing what you were doing to the side during The End fight, when you were shooting and punching and kicking seemingly a rock? Or was that second one to get him in a more favourable position? Also, "For England, James?"! And as a Yorkshireman too!

If you stun The Fear on the ground, all damage he takes registers as stamina damage and he doesn't get any recovery frames. So I fake death pill to bait him near the rope trap and then set it off on him while he is stunned. I think The End fight is explained in my Tuxedo Euro video better than I can do it here in text but basically I am waiting 25 seconds and standing in a spot so when I fire he spawns in the closest spot he can see me from, I know where that is so I throw a smoke between me and that spot and then make a loud sound to make him spawn. It's a technique found by GoGoTime in 2020. Thanks for watching!

For England, James? I honestly wondered if the cold war camo would have been beneficial for speed runners during the bike chase bits. I would do that and keep the russian side facing the bikers for an anxiety free drive but that was never at this high a skill level

In a normal run you can just use the Auscam which gives 33% damage reduction which is more than enough. I use Sneaking Suit in this since I get but you could also use Cold War. In the normal speedrun we use lethal against Volgin since it's much faster than nonlethal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you don't have to get Foxhound Rank to get the Infinity Facepaint. You can get it by carrying the Tsuchinoko to the end of the game.

If I recall correctly... Infinity FP Obtained by a no kill run and the method you mentioned. (Just remember you need to get Tsuchinoko back at the waterfall,) (Tikhogornyj) Stealth Camo is harder but getting both in a single playthrough sure does feel good. Obtained via a no alert run.
