@@trueblue6201 but the B&B Unit have their emotions. Laughing Octopus is Joy, Raging Raven is Fury, Crying Wolf is Sorrow, Screaming Mantis is Pain. At least, that's the way I think of it. Not sure if it's accurate though.

@@eduardomagana3858 Alright if I am being fair they do have that connection with Cobra unit. But in truth they are more like Foxhound with a reference to the Cobra unit. You are right the Beauty and the Beast unit all have emotions tied to them similar to the Cobra unit. But the rest of them resembles Foxhound more. The animals they are named for were originally members of Foxhound. They also use similar tactics to the original Foxhound unit. Laughing Octopus like Decoy Octopus used camouflage, Screaming Mantis like Psycho Mantis used psychic powers, Crying Wolf like Sniper Wolf relied on long range weapons in the snowy wasteland where Snake fought Sniper before, and Raging Raven like Vulcan Raven relied on heavy artillery. The Beauty and the Beast unit was also known as Snakehound. Because of this I viewed them as more similar to Foxhound than Cobra Unit. But I should be honest and admit it pays homage to both grounds though more references are made towards Foxhound.

TF2 takes place in late 60s and early 70s, so it's *super* possible for The Fury to be Pyro's dad.

The pain's annoying armor, the fear's jumping around and eating when he gets tired, the end's quick feet and flash grenades and the boss's cqc that takes learning to counter... But the fury? Get him down to a lesser health status and he holds down the trigger on that damn flamethrower and he won't even let you stand!' This fight gets rough fast if you don't have a really good plan

Not to mention the end can also heal himself up a bit, annoyingly enough.

I always thought of it like he experienced the same thing as the Boss. He saw the earth from space and realized it was a beautiful planet free of boarders and devision but was ruled by a species with a violent and cruel nature. And when he came back he just wanted to scorch humanity off the face of the earth because of everything they've done in their terrible history. A never ending burning hatred for everyone around him. None of them deserved to be here, they all deserved to burn and die.

You know, I never thought of it that way. I saw him as just a madman who returned from the brink of death, and could feel nothing but hate, almost as a desire to find the death he subconsciously believed he deserved. This series really is a once in a lifetime experience.

That's because, upon re-entry, the shuttle he was in caught fire, engulfing him in flames. Which is why he saw 'the world set ablaze'.

I remember when I first played this boss, I was around...13? Either way, seeing myself surrounded by fire was pretty stressful time, and I had no clue where he was. So there I am, looking around with my pistol in first person frantically to try and find him, and I finally see him walking slowly through the fire, breathing heavily with his face obscured by his helmet, only reflecting the fire around him... Basically being scary beyond all reason. I freak out and start shooting wildly at him with my pistol, only to watch him trip back into the fire screaming out, "Augh, son of a bitch!" IT caught me so off guard that I bursted out laughing and had a wonderful time fighting him the rest of that boss fight.

I was 10 when I started playing mgs3 and the biggest hurdle was when I was up against The End. It's the constant fear that he'll spot you.

I love how half the comments section is "HE'S SO EASY" and the other half is "HE'S SO HARD" with an occasional "nice job IGN."

the OST of this game is a pure master piece.

It's funny. Everyone talks about The Fury being a push over, yet he's the only one of the Cobras that gave me any trouble at all. The Pain and The Fear never even hit me once, The End never got me below half stamina, and The Sorrow was a cakewalk since I'd only killed about 15-20 people up to that point in the game. The Fury on the other hand was a very challenging person to fight for me (I went non-lethal for all of the cobras except for The Boss) and I died 5-6 times before finally taking him down in a drawn out twenty minute struggle. Different mindsets I guess. Still my favorite boss in all of MGS3, very fun and just an all around superb character.

Probably is because I played it in normal, but I beated him non lethal and it was really easy. I think it could have been a better boss fight, although his concept is way more developed even than the other cobras

Hey just played against him in Extreme European and for a moment I wanted to kill myself :) Already beat him, but really randomly, after 100th attempt I got him below the half of his stamina and started jumping over him, don't ask me how I did. Anyways, got to say that somehow now this made me like this boss battle. The greatness of the Cobras is that they're shown not too much time, but all the cutscenes and even the things they say while the boss battle really makes the character way more interesting and depthful, it makes you think how the war did affect them, in which way, and the most accomplished of the Cobras is definitely The Fury. The weapons that the Cobras use are meaningful too, except for The Pain... But The Fury's flamethrower really works as a simbolism. A flamethrower is a ultra lethal weapon, worth of a furious person who only wants to burn down the whole planet. Best boss battle in whole game

Still stands up as one of the greatest moments in video gaming. What a classic game. Played this first in 2005. 10 Years ago now!!

He doesn't take normal fire damage, because Snakes are cold-blooded. ... ...if the Patriot gets unlimited ammo from having the internal feed mechanism shaped like an infinity symbol, I can fill in blanks however I want, Otacon.

I laugh every time he says "I see the earth!" and crashes to the roof.

Snake you defeated the entire Cobra Unit!

This boss battle is really all about timing and your instincts....luck also favors. I mean when I first faced him,I got his health down to 20% within 3 minutes and I was all like "Hmm that ain't too hard.." but I felt tired and just closed my console and the next time I fought this boss....I fucking died like 8-10 times and it was driving me INSANE. Even if he has 5% of his health remaining and you rush towards him,he can completely turn the table and fuck you up real bad because that flame attack of his does some serious burning damage and your health keeps on decreasing rapidly and its extremely hard to recover from that..

This bossfight stuck with me. Kojima's ability to jam his characters full of emotions and complex mental states is just brilliant. Now, time to find an emulator and replay the entire series...

Almost like fire itself. It can be calm, than destroy everything in its path.

Literally the only thing wrong with the fury is he has no mask filter to his voice. everything else is so awesome

he was a badass boss

I like how Zero always asks you to find a way to see in the darkness, while you can see clearly with naked eyes

This fight nearly reminds me of Vulcan Raven in the maze of containers (MGS1). Much like that fight; it's almost suicide to take either head on, perhaps the real difference is afterburn as well as it being harder to know where this guy is because you don't have the Soliton Radar and he does have a Jetpack to quickly go somewhere else. Though the means of taking either down are more-less the same when using guns to catch them off guard plus clever timing with C4 or Grenades can also work.I admit not getting burned by leftover flames can be a bit annoying though; to be honest they usually done more damage to me than direct fire from The Fury :)

Try after retry. He always seems to surprise me. One tip for the noobs though: use the cardboard box as an insulator against the flames. You can walk through fire this way (just don't get surprised from behind by the Fury himself and his fireblast remains just as deadly). Check this: watch?v=mG8ycKhLZHA

In case you didn't know, the whole story happens in Russian. This is why Sokolov complements Snake by saying "Your Russian is superb, where did you learn to speak it". This was at the beginning of the game.

My favorite boss in mgs3. His themesong gets me pumped every time i hear it.

For a fact that the cutscene changes depend what light source you use like the torch or Night vision.

He was nuts, i loved it.

I remember when me and my younger brother was playing this game, I kept dying against the fury, when my brother got on he used the sniper rifle and beat this dude without getting a single lick.

I always get sad at this boss. Same with the end and the sorrow.

Took me so many tries to beat this guy. But had a blast doing it!

Good play-through, man. That was close. You should have ate some food!! Your health recovers a lot faster at full stamina.

His death kind of ties in with the man on fire from mgsv. It was always weirdly over the top, but it kind of seems like it's the same kind of anger-based pyrokenesis Volgins body used.

you can also knock him out in melee, first hit one full combo with knife to increase damage then hit him with the torch or punch him

The Fury wanted to watch the world burn before it was cool. Also I don't know why but the line "I can see it! Mission control do you read me!?" deliveres such a powerful punch because of the voice actor.

Try doing this fight only with the tranq gun on E-Extreme with a small lifebar. This is the true way to experience the fury.

*Those* are night vision goggles? Man. Pretty arcane looking set.

Games do not get better than that - after all those years mgs snake eater is probably the best game ever created

Guns are made to make the job go faster and quicker to get the job done . Plus the way I did it with is using a shotgun and attack the fury that way even shooting at the flammable barrels to really finish the fury off quicker. Just to. Ring you to some thoughts in mind of tips .

although i beat the game like two weeks ago so

It took me a good 20 tries to beat him on EXTREME with the “passive” kill. Had to keep running behind him, and shooting him with the Tranq Sniper.

You're playing as big boss, so technically you're fighting the voice of your future self in MGS4.

Good job, you've satisfied the non existence criteria to succeed at life.

Most likely he’s speaking Russian and it’s translated as with the whole game.

Using thermal goggles against The Fury just seems so weird.
