Meh, people are going to bitch about this no matter what. Personally I thought it was great and if it turns a wider audience on to Metallica and the metal genres as a whole then surely that's a good thing.. right? I mean, it would be pretty inconsistent to spend all your time complaining about how the music you listen to is under appreciated and then start whining on social media when it gets huge amounts of airplay due to featuring in an enormously popular Netflix series. Surely no one would do that, right? 😏

Personally I think this is a very well crafted tribute to their old "mentors", like Judas Priest and Motorhead: it's easy to detect some similarities with songs like "Overkill" and "Rapid fire", but they were able to elaborate these former ingredients and mix them with their own style.. In addition to this I would like to underline the high quality of both mixing and production, the sound is astounding..

I like the solo. It’s not very technical at all, and it’s sloppy. But I have to compare it to HTSD and the solo is raw and angry sounding and fast. Great little solo to fill just a few measures in the middle of the song. Could it be better? Absolutely. But it really doesn’t sound bad at all. Sounds like a live solo but on an album which is cool to hear. And again, compared to HTSD, it’s great hearing Kirk play a solo like that again. It feels like he’s like FINALLY I can be released and just go wild with something. Not to mention, I really can’t fault Kirk for not being able to pioneer an iconic solo EVERY single song especially after SOOOO many songs they’ve made.

Yep... as soon as I heard the opening riffs/song structure... it reminded me of the way they wrote back on Kill Em All (only a bit slower). This style of songwriting definitely has that 80's metal/hard rock sound to it. The production value obviously sounds current, especially the hints of the tuned chorus vocals, but that's all to be expected with modern studio techniques.
The overall recording sounds really good, it's really well produced. The actual track is awesome, tons of energy, the drums sound phat, and James sounds really good too. I'm super excited for this album (surprise). Just bought tickets to see them in Germany in 2 years!

@@irrsinnrainer I’m 99% sure it’s white but yeah haha
Really enjoyed it, reminds me of the "old days." Drum arrangement is perfect for the song.
I love that lars is using the black album KIT !!!!!
Is it for sure Lars behind the drums?🤪 Just kidding, , I really like the song, holy shit new Metallica song, that is surreal 🤣
Would love to see a straight blast beat through through whole song.
Great to hear from the lads again, very classic sound. Turn that speed up to 1.25 for a different feel!
Your reaction is so damn right! Cool song!🤘😎
Literally sounded like a drum machine someone programmed in a couple hours
Say what you will about Lars (no, don’t), he did inspire a lot of today’s metal drummers.

"Did" being the operable word. In the 80's.
Now we need a drum cover for this song Mr. Samus... Do it!!!!
You should cover it but in the way you described the different beats! Let’s go!!
I don’t know why, but this track has a very mature, new, fresh take on the drum track by Lars. It just seems like a new drummer and a perspective of drumming that someone put a lot of intention behind it, love it!
Lars kept it simple on the recorded track because he's going to be riffing a brand- new version of it each time it's played live!
I love how you just enjoy the new music, not over analysing it like many other react video... (some even decide to hate it before hearing it)
James is one the best rhythym guitars out there man.
