Metal Detecting UK | Is This A Roman Fort?
In this episode myself and Brian have come to the site of a supposed Roman Fort. There is no evidence of the fort above the ground however an archaeological and geophysical survey which took place here showed lots of interesting features however, the conclusion was not certain and it suggested more work needed to be done to determine what could once have been in the filed.
So, we have been given exclusive access to the site and our aim is to try and either confirm or deny that the features spotted here are either Roman or something else purely by looking at the things we find in the ground with our metal detectors.

The last piece you shared looked to me like a boar's head when held with the loop on top. Looked like two eyes, two tusks and snout. And I'd agree with the spur rather than farm equipment assessment. Thanks for sharing your finds with us.

Michael, good finds I do believe the first bronze item is a spur rowel. Good video and congrats on the permission.

Went really well, this was my second time out with the D2, I used general last time and forager today, I preferred forager program, u think it works great, found a young vicky half penny and some old buckles! The only thing for me is getting used to the sounds, I come from the Legend and Nox 800 where the sounds are higher pitched, if you know what I mean? I was getting used to it in the end, I think I will stick with it for now. There was an awful lot of Iorn in the ground so very chatty! @@jasonmileham awesome mate, thank you for the feedback and kind donation!! Glad you liked it. Iron volume is on 5 so that’s why you’re hearing it, I personally like hearing it as it can tell you allot about the ground. If you ever need extra depth just put Audio Filter on zero and the last tone break change to 74. Also, in heavy iron areas put the reactivity on 3 👍👍
Put the decorative piece on the detecting hub. I think it might be a furniture drawer pull.
I believe Roman spurs ended in a point, i.e. no rowel. I think the coin is Roman due to the lack of roundness. With the full amount of copper it would be significantly thinker.
