If it had sold for 10 times that much, it wouldn't be close to being worth as much as being able to show my friends I had one in my collection. Just as banks protect their money with firearms.. At least we have the God given right to self defense here and we're not complete slaves to our system of government just yet..

(thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

What a fabulous find. Congratulations! $6,251 is indeed a lot of money for a quarter, but this is a very rare coin and the undisputed "King" of the Barber Quarter series. Without the surface damage from being buried in the ground, this piece could easily have brought in the $25,000 to $30,000 range. No kidding! (Being a life-long coin collector, I could never have parted with it even at that price!)

I've watched this several times now...even posted this video to my own wall. I still enjoy your excitement and how you handled the entire situation. Great job...well done!!

Congratulations on the find and the sale! My oldest silver find was a 1917 standing Liberty quarter found in Meridian that looked like it was dropped the day it was minted. I too went to Rose Hill Coin and that guy bought it. (Wish I got $6,000 for it!) Again, Congrats!

It's always amazing when you find something rare. Sometimes I feel like a garbage man, sifting through the bottle caps and pull tabs for weeks before I find a good spot. And even then, I'm not finding anything worth more then one hundred dollars. Good Job!!!!!

I'm so happy for you! I have never found anything worth more than maybe $10 or so, but just seeing someone get an amazing coin like this is awesome!! It must of been a really great experience and you must have been so proud. Where I live everything is new so it is really rare to find something old, but hopefully I will soon make trips and find more places to search. Metal detecting is such an amazing hobby, from finding a 2000 penny to a (like yours) 1901 s barber, keep st it and good luck!!!

Very nice find! Reminds me of digging my most valuable coin. It was my first seated and my first 1800s coin, an 1862S Dime in amazing condition. I freaked when I dug it out, and almost passed out when I looked up the value. I had it graded and it came back AU Details. Congrats on the find and thanks for all the videos.
