Metal Detecting In The River: Relics, Watches And MOAR!
Ойын-сауық
Join me as I kayak and metal detect in the river using my Garrett AT Max detector. I am looking for treasure and historical relics. I find two watches, one old and one worth over $300 new. lots of rifle casings and one weird Australian coin looking thingy. Plus I see some interesting things and talk a little history.

Hey Beau, this is the sort of video of yours I love, the old fashioned creek hunting! I live in Brisbane, Australia which was home to tens of thousand of US servicemen during WW2 and that 1944 coin item was made from the local currency of the time. It is a two shilling silver coin called a Florin and is equivalent to 24 pennies and replaced by a 20 cent piece in 1966. The Florin is sterling silver or 92.5% silver which was the standard silver coin metal from 1910 until 1946 when they all became 50% silver. I metal detect WW2 camps where i can and US servicemen were notorious for making all sorts of souvenirs and sweetheart charms from Australian currency in which they were paid while stationed here. That may have been a coat button especially if you have found one already. Love your work and please keep getting wet while doing it as many now emulate how you hunt hardly any can pull it off as well!! Cheers, Vic

During World War II, between 1942-1944, florin production was supplemented by coinage produced at the San Francisco branch of the United States Mint. These coins bear a small "S" mint mark below the Australian coat of arms.Mebbe one of those?? Down Under Brad

Should also add the buttons made using them probably date from 1966 after the coin became valueless when we adopted decimal currency.

Beau, If you are interested I can restore that pocket watch (to working condition) and send it back to you (looking beautiful). I have a lot of similar pocket watch parts here in my shop (Andresen's Antique Restorations). I restore these types of watches all year long and it would be interesting to see who made it and then look up serial numbers to see when it was made, etc. You may have a real "River Treasure" dropped by one of the Civil War generals!! Let me know! Brian

The B&O tool is a rail chisel used by track workers to cut a rail way back when and before rail saws came into common use.
Your videos always cheer me up! You always brighten my day with your happiness, thanks Beau!

Helicopter Pad I can spot Quality! Perpetual movement! still running. I was thinking, I have never heard of an Orient watch but I knew it was nice!
I've never really been excited about sinkers until this video! Those ones your were finding are awesome!
G'Day Beau, The pommel cap sounds about rite. A Florin is an Australian 2 shilling piece in use until we changed to decimal currency in 1966, it was the equivalent of 20 cents and up until around 194? where made of 9?% silver. The Kangaroo and Emu with the shield is the Australian coat of arms depicting the states and territories.... Nice find
Thank you for bringing us along!
Had horses for 30 years and they often throw shows under roots and rocks. They all took a few nails with them, rarely more than two. Never did all the nails follow the shoe. I would think that a dead animals shoes would be indentified by retaining more, or all, of the nails intact.
Nice. As an Australian we love finding florins. Florin button I've never seen. Nice
I absolutely love these long river treasure videos! Thank you!!
Loved the Soylent Green remark. I wonder how many people got it?
That B&O hammer/Cut Off Chisel? is very interesting! Nice video with lots of interesting stuff. A watch still running! fantastic!
That Australian "medallion" is actually an Australian Florin, pre-decimal currency from the dark ages before we switched to dollars. A cool find!
Great video, Chigg! Thank you for sharing.
Hi Chigg, Your humor was not lost on me! Soylent Green - "'it's people" LOL
Howdee! I googled Orient Watches and found a similar one new for sale, $179.00. Great find! Love the river videos! 🍀
That Florin button is bloody awesome man. We find alot of the actual coins down south here. never seen it as a button tho.
Good luck to finding moar relics aquachigger
Chuckles, I'm laughing out loud Beau, "soilent green plant"...great.
HELLO!Your one of my fav utubers!Good luck my friend ! LIKE
That watch is Gorgeous! Wow
Hello @Aquachigger the coin/button thing you found was made by a company called Florin from 1943 to 1963. most coins were made with 50 % silver and is a collectors item and the back of the coin which has the mounted up bit was an extension so you can put the button onto a tie or shirt to show your wealth during those times.
Hey there Chigg! Great to be seeing river treasure vids again! Love love love these!!!

Dude I have been watching your videos a long time and love detecting. Please quit apologizing all the time you don't owe anyone any thing if they don't like something they can find another channel. Stay safe and happy hunting.
Such great finds. I totally loved that old rusty wheel. I would of brought that home to live in my garden. Good stuff there in that spot.
5:13 his laugh though😂
Always enjoy your vids!!
I love the pocket watch. I started collecting the older ones.
Great video! Happy hunting and safe travels! All the very best to you!
Solent green..lol.....your so funny...love going on your adventures with you... So fun
Hi Beau , the Aussie coin / Button , if it is made form from a real coin then it made of silver 925 , 1944 a substantial portion of the florins issued were struck at the U.S. Mint in San Francisco, The San Francisco florins have a "S" mintmark over the date. cheers from Australia
cool finds ,I really like the second lock you found the best😀
Chig..these are the videos you do best..and we like the most....thx for going back to the river...and..would be neat to see you do a restoration on the Garret you found...
Beau the Australian floren was pre 1966 50% silver after 1945 value 20 cents awesome vid and fines Cheers from Australia
Very Nice Video ... one more time...!
I enjoy your videos, thank you
Great hunt!
You have a gift for information. Regards...
Always interesting and informative. Always wondered about the creek near me where the Continental Army was encamped for about a week.
Nice Watch 👍 good place to metal detect🙂👍
Finding that old pinpointer that is classic.
I get so happy when i notice your latest video is a longer one. Good times ahead. Thanks for the vid. I love the look you gave after you said where the civil war relics used to be, it says, yup i got em 😎.
More cool finds. I wish I was there.
Fish weights could be lead for doing stained glass work.
Great video keep up the great work👍🤘
Hey Beau, keep detecting that area, you found some interesting stuff. finding a pin pointer means there is moar! I`ll hold my breath till the next video. Lol
Beau! That Aussie button thing is a one florin/two shillings. The coin was worth 24 pence back before we switched to decimal currency, odd that it was turned into a button, I've never seen anything like that. Any silver coins before 1945 are sterling silver too btw!
Great video!
Chigger you are awesome! Love your videos!
@ 13.05. Yep, gas burner.[cast iron]. VERY common back in the days, there will be brass fittings on that under the rust Beau. Over here in Australia, these burners were well in use after WW2.
Thank you 😊
Cool
Stumbled upon your channel, and thought hmmm... that's interesting! I might try this as a hobby one day. Thanks for sharing!
G'day Beau, don't know if you knew that the kangaroo and emu are used not only because they are uniquely Australian but also to symbolise a country moving forwards and never retreating as neither of them can walk (or hop) backwards . Keep up the good work mate.
THE BIG SINKER IS USUALLY USE FOR THE END OF A TROUT LINE.
Appreciate you taking us along again Mr Chigg. I'm going on google earth now to look for Indian fish weirs. :-) Al (UK)
Yay! Moar!!
Hi Aquachigger!!!!
A pin pointer! lol I think that's an awesome find, lol Awesome vid chigs!
chigg that broken bottle is why I always say "Hold your Balls!
I really like that you found a pin pointer
13:42 That's where I would walk around and find relics, and even do some fishing for the smallmouth. Right where the line is, (you probably already know this) Fort Germanna was right here. It's crazy to think all of this history from 1720 was right in my backyard.
Greetings from Dublin, nice video. All we have in the River Liffey is shopping trolleys and beer bottles, well it is Ireland .Keep up the good work sir.
30:00 minutes grabbing the popcorn 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿😎
RIVER TREASURE!! Instant like!
Chig, good to see you back on the river. Do you keep a ledger/diary of the places you metal detect? What state have you found the most civil war relics?
The only treasure hunter that goes into a competition with no tools and ends up winning a Detector, only to hunt and find more detector gear with it. Now that is an investment.
The Orient is a nice little watch. I've had a couple.
