She was really restrained in this one and that was a beautiful performance - but she is capable of singing in a range that only dogs can hear.

I was watching waiting for her to do her “thing” and she didn’t.. it was a beautiful performance I agree but it doesn’t show her range and power as well as some others.

Totally agree and she can sing so low that if you didn’t have video, you could be forgiven for thinking she was a man. Fantastic range, fantastic tone, fantastic power, and control.

Seeing Mark Holden with grey hair makes me feel very old 😢🇦🇺 Vanessa performing in my home town of Sydney. The Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge you can see. ❤️🇦🇺

Sydney opera House has several stages inside... It is the largest Opera House in the world but they tend not to be very large venues. I think total on less than 6 thousand. However on the outdoor stage and steps there has been concerts of 200000!

That building is the Sydney Opera House. The venue doesn't have the capacity to hold the crowd that was at this concert. This location is on the harbour and behind the stage are the Botanical gardens. Great location for a large open air concert.

The people are on the forecourt, there are many steps, to sit on, and flat ground to dance on, the stage is on the water's edge. Further over behind the stage, or to one side, is the Sydney Harbour bridge, which also has heaps of fireworks on it for new years.The opera house is on it's own piece of ground, with one road in, and 3 sides open, visible from the water. They have open air concerts in the summer, in cool outside air. On boxing day a Yacht race starts from the harbour and works it's way down to the island of Tasmania, to Hobart. The seas can be treacherous below the mainland, but they don't usually give up. Called "the Sydney to Hobart."

I saw an interview once where she said the original words were 'Look around you, everyone you see, everyone you know is gonna die' so basically grow up, get over yourself, and learn to power ahead. Somewhere along the line it got changed to Shine which puts a different spin on the song, so much for the better.

Where you stopped it at 8:15 if you look on the left you will see the Sydney harbour bridge. The building they are in front of is the Sydney opera house. They are outside because there are too many people for inside. Where the stage is it is lower than the opera house. There is a very wide set of stairs leading up to the building which works perfectly for people to see from. Behind the stage is a very high wall so sound will go towards the opera house.

Its the SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE ,but they do free events out side as there's more room.

As everyone has said, it was the Opera House you could see. There are a couple of reasons they do big concerts like this outside though: 1. They can fit a HEAP more people standing than they could inside the venue 2. It is really warm in January here (around 100F) so great vibes outside and overall more pleasant. Really enjoyed this one!

Fun fact … as noted by a few other people the original word in the song was Die … it was written after a close friend of hers committed suicide while they were in High School … it was Mark Holden who suggested changing it to shine … re listen to it from the perspective of a friend trying to come to terms with someone close committing suicide.

She holds last note for about 26 seconds. This concert was held Australia Day outside the famous, iconic Sydney Opera House. You couldn’t fit this huge crowd inside. They have a concert there every year. Vanessa’s voice is just divine.

This is the world famous Sydney Opera house they hold concerts outside because all these people wouldn't fit inside and the concerts are usually free , it costs huge money to rent the Opera house , besides this is Australia we prefer outdoor activities and Sydney harbour is a spectacular backdrop .
