I would definitely point out that Embolden only works when a monster is aggroing you specifically, meaning it's FAR less efficient in multiplayer. This is why Guard 3 is the primary guard skill used, as with a guard dash/shield tackle/shield charge, you gain 2pts of guard, giving you guard 5 no matter the scenario. I think overall, for more consistency, embolden 1/2 + guard 3 tends to work a lot better, but aside from that, the video is very good, and I'm glad Mizu's lance comes out over Royal Ludroth finally.

I have the Diversion skill on my armor to help draw the monsters attention towards me while using the Embolden skill.

I wonder, for monsters like Gore Magala, Chaotic Gore Magala, Kushala Daora and Risen Kushala Daora, why is Lucent Narga Lance better than Flaming Espinas? Especially for Gore, the extra Fire Element does pull weight and the good thing with the Flaming Espinas weapon is, that you can still build for Buildup Boost. The massive Elemental increase from Mail of Hellfire 3 when using the blue scroll should also be noted. 20% more Elemental is huge. Strife in combination with Berserk and Blood Rite is also a really nice option. Another 20% Element from Strife, 20% Element from Mail of Hellfire since you have to use blue scroll to activate Berserk and now Blood Awakening also boosts raw and element and on top of all that, Maximum Might becomes a good option for more Affinity. Also, do you take into consideration the Motion Values of attacks? Leaping Thrust is king. Not only does it give you +1 Guard for the animation of the "dash" but also has elevated Elemental Motion Value, can activate Offensive Guard and only consumes 1 sharpness unit. It's a really good move, offensive and defensive.

Came from the Longsword video and wanted to reiterate that your guides have been extremely helpful. One question I have though is how do these builds activate Blood Awakening? I assumed you needed Blood Rite to trigger it, unless fighting an afflicted.

Where is the sharpness coming from for the dubhe's asterism set? The base weapon has almost no purple, but I don't see any handicraft/sharpness augments in the image. Would changing the weapon augments to slots4/sharpness5/raw1 or working in handicraft somewhere be best?

I voted to see greatsword next so I can’t complain if that’s your next video! From my limited understanding element on greatsword is quite good if you use surge slash or if you use “the plunger” where you basically spam jump attacks and hunting edge plunging attacks, I hear that outputs a ton of elemental damage. For your more traditional charged slash combo you’re probably better off spec’ing into raw damage but i’d be curious to know how much element has an impact on the standard charged slash playstyle and how much effective damage you lose by spec’ing into element

Are you intended to play the elemental builds (other than dragon, since its a dragon conversion build) on red scroll or blue scroll (flat raw vs % element on mail of hellfire)?

Love your build guides, but do you have any interest in doing actual gameplay guides? Like the switch skills you like to use, combos you look for while fighting, punished for big openings etc. This would be great since a lot of gameplay guides are outdated or may be made for different setups.

I have a couple of Long Sword stuff for a few esoteric techniques, but tbh I don't think I'm "good" enough at any (especially non-LS) weapons to give more insight than others in this space.

Looks like KZread didn't post the first long comment I posted here, so I'll just summarize my questions: 1. Why no Heaven Sent in any of your proposed sets? Against higher anomaly levels (and against Special Investigations), players are bound to lose their purple sharpness before the monster dies. 2. What do you think of J9MH's meta sets? He came up with lots of similar findings to yours, but instead of Mizutsune lance for water, he views Royal Ludroth lance as better, and instead of Lucent Nargacuga for raw, he views Teostra as better for raw.

oof, sorry about the comment being deleted 1. Heaven-Sent is just a bit hard to fit, honestly, without losing significant amounts of damage. I don't think that ability to further reduce sharpness is worth the significant damage loss. Particularly if you sharpen whenever eg. a monster is rideable or asleep or whatever. 2. Royal Ludroth Lance (at least before) is quite good, just a bit worse than Mizu. Feel free to use either. As for Teo Lance, I double checked just now and yeah Teo Lance does about 1% less raw damage than Lucent in the used conditions; and the Poison (after Cham Blessing) does more damage than the Blast, despite the massive difference in actual value. If you change up your conditions (eg. allow for lower sharpness levels, maybe changes in Guard levels), Teo may get a slight edge better, but overall the extra slots, sharpness, and access to a better status give it a slight edge over the 5 raw Teo gets from not needing to augment for an extra ramp-up slot.
