Messiah Matters

In this episode, we discuss Genesis 9:3 and if Noah was allowed to eat pork, then we turn to some basics of biblical Hebrew and discuss why some scholars use "waw" instead of "vav." Finally, a discussion on the sacrificial system and whether or not it ended when Christ died and rose from the dead. Is it "spitting in the face of Christ" to believe there will be sacrifices again?

I should have mentioned in my voicemail that my in-laws are Seventh Day Adventist, so things like sabbath and dietary law are not obstacles when discussing this topic. We agree on most things. Feasts have also come up, tho they see the beauty of them, they don’t see them as “required”

I don’t think the sacrifices have ended as much as Christs sacrifice is the active sacrifice that is covering us now

I agree that sacrifices do not necessarily conflict with the work of Messiah, and that it seems they will be back in the millennium. However: Sacrifices don’t *only* point to Yeshua as a picture, right? Sin offerings do bring atonement in the temporal sense as it relates to the earthly sanctuary, right? Doesn’t your dad teach this? Also, won’t sacrifices in the millennium be for those who enter that world with non-resurrected bodies?

Aren’t there two classes of angels/ messengers? Aren’t there two classes of people, those that believe and those who don’t?? So yeah wouldn’t a sacrificial system make sense for the lower class people??? I guess those would be the people that got left behind, sort of speak, at the closing of the church age. Any thoughts ?????

Why is it hard to believe that Noah was allowed to eat pork because the Torah rules were not given yet and he was not part of the covenant God made with the children of Israel? It is not a contradiction with the Torah in any way.

He knew what was clean and unclean. Unclean were by twos and clean were pairs of seven. If he ate pork, it would be extinct. The laws were given prior to Sinai and there are lots of examples showing it.

@@RealDefinitionsMatter Well, I can't know if Noah raised pigs first or if he waited a while for the animals to become more plentiful. I doubt he and his sons decided to eat them all right away and wipe out the population. I don't know if he only ate clean foods or not. That is just guessing. Maybe he did and maybe he didn't. He didn't have to as far as we know from the Hebrew Bible. Your guess is as good as mine based only on the written Hebrew Bible. If you have an oral tradition, then you might have a different opinion.

Because that means God’s standard for His chosen people and His holiness changed. For example, in the Messianic (milennial) kingdom, Yeshua will restore all things to its original design. If Noah could eat unclean, that means there’s a possibility the “restoring all things to its original intent” includes eating unclean.
