What I’ve come to realize is that it’s true Messi is the goat but there’s a top 4 of all time. That’s Messi, Ronaldo, Pele, Maradona. In my opinion, that 18/19 season was Messi’s best season. He single handedly almost won them the treble. They should have beaten Liverpool and went on to the finals to beat Spurs, but they choked. Anyway, this rivalry is coming to an end. 2022 WC is remaining, a trophy that neither of them won. It would be a dream final if we got to see Argentina vs Portugal. But I don’t think that will happen.

Not really. Messi just continued to dominate & win another La Liga title for Barcelona. Messi scored 51 goals from 50 games in 2018-19. He won his 6th Golden Boot and his 7th Ballon D'Or trophy. I think Ronaldo used the "competition" with Messi as a spur to get the most out of himself. But I don't think Messi cared about Ronaldo. He is a football genius like Maradona who dominates the game no matter what situation he is in. Teammates just give him the ball and let him do the rest.

These 2 have made my childhood. Both taught me many valuable lessons in my life and have entertained an entire generation. I don't care what today's kids say about Mbappé vs Haaland but there will be no other rivalry like Messi vs Ronaldo

Messi just has that little "magical" touch which makes him different from anyone else, he looks effortless and when he plays it looks as if he plays with heart and he pours in all his feelings to an extend that the ball looks glued to his legs. Messi worked hard, like really hard for years but still whenever he plays he looks natural. Well, not underestimating anyone's years of hardwork and experience, but when you see Messi , you just get fascinated and he leaves you in awe.. Ronaldo on the other hand, showed that everything is possible with determination and consistent hardwork .. he broke all the limits, crossed all the hurdles and surpassed all the benchmarks technically a player can surpass, all because of his mindset and consistent efforts, he showed how a strong mindset and positive approach can do wonders in your career!!

I very much agree with you on anything uve said about Messi. A very special talent trained and guided by a team like Barca. His magic only grew with the guidance of worlds greats like Pep, R10, Etoo,Xavi, Deco, Iniesta.. Dude won 2CL&3BallonDors as a skilled/Fast Winger. In 2014 he lost his speed due to a knee injury,that only got worse due to him playing CLfinal&WC(now thats hardwork&determ.) Within 2-3months, he came back and went on to win Euro,3peat CL&2BD, as a striker with possibly the best off-ball movements the world has ever seen. So good thy named him Tapinaldo😂. He compensated his lost of pace with a very rare clutch gene that only belongs to players like Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant(RIP). His ability of deciding games was unmatched due to his unhuman goal-scoring arsenal. I enjoyed watching both of them at their peak. They are the last stading Titans of the best football era ever. Football will never be the same, with the money coming in&out, it will be difficult to breed hungry&determined young-stars like thy used to!

Please stop this rubbish about how Messi is naturally gifted and CR7 is from hard work. They're both amazing to watch, completely different styles and it depends on your preference but to say one is gifted and other isn't doesn't make any sense. Dribbling alone doesn't make you the best footballer in the world otherwise Neymar will be the best footballer ever. CR7 scores with both feet, headers, and bicycle kicks....... and that's natural talent. Just because he's in top physical shape at all times doesn't mean that's all he is. If you're not born with natural talent, no amount of training will get you into playing professional football in the 3rd league in any country, let alone playing at CR7's level. Otherwise, we'll all spend our days on the pitch and in the gym just to become pro ballers.

I've seen those intense days Pep vs Jose that now football feels little boring to me. It wasn't only about Messi vs Ronaldo. It was about Jose vs Pep. It was Real Madrid vs Barcelona, two of the greatest football clubs ever. It was Ramos vs Pique (the best defenders of their era) and then there was a little bit of politics involved. This made it a perfect storm. As a Real Madrid we started as an underdog against the peak Barcelona, I never thought thought we'll make it but in 2022 with 5 UCLs in hands it taste sweet. I hope Jose and Pep would rejoin Real Madrid and FC Barcelona to reignite the that spirit 🔥🔥🔥

I was depressed as Real Madrid fan from 2009 to 2012 I mean we won copa del rey in 2011 so Barca didnt win another treble and we won la liga in 2012 with 100 points but Barca was beating us and humiliating us in that era I never thought that we would win that many UCLs in next years.

Cristiano played joga bonito at United and then for his first years with Real Madrid. He was an artist with a beautiful body balance back then, his legs were not as muscular then, rather light like an antelope's legs (see especially the years 2004, 2005, 2006/07). For me, football was never the same the moment Ronaldo went to Juventus. Never. This Era of football, the spirit of every single player in the Real Madrid and Barcelona side was just something else. I supported Real Madrid yet still knew every single player in the Barcelona side. I am a big fan of Ronaldo but I have to admit I also admire Messi and now realize that I also should have watched all his games. Ronaldo is an unmatchable goal machine and Messis dribbling is from another planet. I miss the rivalry of these two players and these two teams. Damn. I now realize that being a part of this journey as a fan in sad and happy times will never be repeated.

I m 38, these 2 influenced football for half of my life already,they are amazing to this day, best of the best . I m a Real fan ,but i love both of them and Messi made me cry today when he s won the World Cup! I m happy someone from my generation still shows so much strength at this age . As a Messi fan, I have absolute admiration for Ronaldo and what he has achieved irrespective of the hate.

Ronaldo is the very pinnacle of what you expect of footballer. He’s the logical extreme of the fundamentals through sheer determination and hard work. He’s an absolute athlete. Messi is an alien, he’s something that can’t be taught or worked towards. You can’t explain how he moved and shoots and passes… it’s simply supernatural. He’s something else, he’s just magical. Two different type of players, yet both are probably the two best players of all time. It’s an honour to have watched them both and to see them compete against each other. It’s a sad day for football when we see these living legends hang up their boots
