From what I understand the man responsible for the lighting is Tomas Haake's brother... When I saw them live I saw him and there seemed to be some resemblance.

In my mind, by the time Meshuggah stops being able to keep up with the rigors of their own music, due to the weakness of human flesh, at that time cybernetics will step in and they will be upgraded.

There's kind of a pecking order to that. 20 years ago they would be opening the fest. But with more bands like Slayer and Sabbath going away you're going to start seeing bands like Meshuggah, Lamb of God, Gojira, Mastodon etc get those headlining spots at night. That's why they have the big light show and back drop now

@@DestinationBabel Same here! Even in Daylight, lights were an integral part of the show and the concert was pure bliss (as always), they played the Download festival near Paris in daylight too (under a tent), the constraints of such huge festival is mind-boggling, all huge bands can't headline the mainstage at 9pm. And you have to take into account that they're on the Hellfest mainstage. Dozens of fest put them under tents or on smaller stages, so it's still interesting for them.

So this is an interesting topic. I'm at the point in my life where if I'm drunk at a show, I'll film a song or two that I know well because I do actually have fun shooting video at shows. I like playing with the zoom and creating a visually pleasing video for others to watch (using minimum brightness and taking care not to ruin anybody's view). The last time I saw Meshuggah was in 2016 and didn't have a phone at the time. I remember the entire show and the emotions (mainly sheer joy) I was feeling for the entire show. I think I was lucky not to have had a phone because I was able to experience them to the fullest. They're my favourite band in the world and it's frankly really annoying that they haven't come to Toronto since and I can't really afford to travel to see them yet.

Sound at Hellfest is exceptionally good! The association behind Hellfest can't put the money they made in their pocket due to their adminsitrative situation wich is a non profit association, so all the money they make goes back into the festival, there is speaker everywhere, every 30 meters, so even if its windy or whatever, the sound is stabilized by all its sources. I was there. They played between 2classic rock bands and complete sonically obliterated everyone like only Meshuggah can. Headbanged the whole 50mins The high pitch sample at the beginning really built up the atmosphere well/ awakening. Love how they all dress in plain black like their a spec ops metal unit. haha "Were here to f*ck sh*t up." We gotta meet up sometime @TheBloodyDrummer666 I go every year! Love yr vids man
