Meshtastic settings

Ғылым және технология

Tutorial on applying the correct settings to model the range of a Meshtastic LoRa node.
This tutorial was created using features available in the FREE sub GHz plan: cloudrf.com/plans
Range will vary significantly depending on obstacles and height. For the best range, get your radio above the ground clutter (trees, buildings). If you cannot get any height and are using it in a dense urban or wooded environment, your range will generally be less than 2km.
Placing it on a mountain however could get you over a hundred km with the same hardware. The limiting factor is attenuating obstacles.
Receiver sensitivity: -136dBm
Elevation: DTM
Landcover: ON
Buildings: ON
Resolution: 5m
Radius: 2 to ? km - depends on height and obstacles. Free plan can only do 5km

Excellent tool, very effective and user friendly. Note to ATAK users, this tool as a plugin, is a substantial upgrade from the hillshade function.

really neat, I'd love to see the effect of raising an antenna off my roof vs leaving it near the ground. BUT I keep getting noticed from cloudrf about needing an account. I tried to disable the stuff to get it to spit out something, but it kept prompting for paid account.

Nice video but I think that Meshtastic doesn't use LoraWAN. It uses the normal LoRa protocol

That's correct. This will be corrected in a future video.

You need a pop filter, man.

I am a little confused, isn't the radius a function of power and sensitivity ? What is bandwidth used for ?

In this software radius is user defined so you are free to adjust it. Bandwidth is only used to set channel noise in signal-to-noise mode. You can ignore it for received power.

Login is faulty and then it's requesting to place an order - This sucks major time!
