Mesa 60" Longbow Bow Review and Testing

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Everyone loves the 64" Mesa longbow, and now it comes in a compact 60" length. See what sets this 60" model apart from the original 64" Mesa. And It's not just a "shorter" Mesa longbow.
We talk about what makes this 60" longbow unique from its big brother, then we take a 50# longbow on the range to shoot with our shooting machine. See how it did with a target weight arrow (8 grains per pound) and a hunting weight arrow (10 grains per pound).

Hi, I really appreciate the testing of the bows. In future segments could you please test the Great Plains SR Swift Black Hawk 58” T/D Long Curve and the SR Swift Cazador 60” T/D. I am interested in those two bows. Especially the Long Curve. Thank you

How does the performance differ between cut on center versus cut just before center?

The closet an arrow sits to center the less flexing it needs to do around the riser. So normally a stiffer spine can be used. So more the tuning impact then a performance impact.

I'd say 7 to 7.5 inches would be best.

does this have the same grip as the 64 inch MESA? or the MESA 2.

It would be a match to the Mesa 2 grip,

Gorgeous bow. How much is it these inflation days? Do you sell and send overseas (Mexico)?

We do ship to Mexico and would have to see if a box length limit to send US mail. May require UPS. Pricing is on our web site.

Interesting that the "original" 60" Mesa II at the same 50# draw weight shot the hunting arrow 2-3 FPS faster and the target arrow about 4 FPS faster than this new 60" Mesa.

Advantage of the carbon strip in the Mesa II. Efficiency and a touch of speed.

mesa 60" vs mesa 2. which is better bow?

  • @3RiversArchery

They have the exact same profile, the Mesa 2 has more performance/efficiency with the carbon core, where the 60" Mesa is wood core for a smoother drawing and shooting bow. So depends what your end goal is for which to go with.

How many laminations do the limbs have? Looks like three

  • @3RiversArchery

The core laminations goes the entire length of the bow, and then wood back and belly laminations in the limbs. Finished with fiberglass on back and belly. So yes, three wood laminations for the core of the limb.

@@3RiversArchery sounds like the limbs can last a lifetime. They would probably never twist or break.

The thickness of longbow limbs makes them very hard to twist (compared to a thinner recurve limb), but I cannot say one way or the other how the integrity of the limb would be impacted. They have been well built bows for us.
