I think you're mistaking the dig on MMA as a sport as a dig on fighters as people. But I agree he does great work.

The problem with actors/actresses is, you never know if they are actually being genuine or just putting on another paid performance for their targeted audience.

Yeah, it's annoying when they use their platform to affect politics, but that's politics. Maybe we should change our political system, and stop trying to kill a person's right to express their opinions? At the end of the day, it's a popularity contest. The loud mouthed celebrity type you despise so strongly just became president. They used their popularity to affect change with their opinion.
