Meryl Streep transforms into '80s guitarist in new movie

the script works well...overall ,; it's an unlikely story so at least MS gets close to making it believable. Springfield is right on the money but that's what he does.Soundtrack gets things right

I like Meryl Streep, but I think she took a step backwards in this film. Her persona doesn't even match the role. Someone else would have been a better fit in this role. Having her daughter in the same movie almost makes it laughable. It is a Halloween costume party, if you ask me.

I agree with you. I never buy Meryl Streep as a blue collar worker (except in Silkwood) This role would've been better suited to somebody like Frances Mcdormand or Melissa Leo.

I thought she was terrific. The film wasn't her best, but she delivered the goods, as per usual. Loved the music/bar scene. Springfield and Meryl's daughter were real good, too.
