Another director said she wasn't sexy enough to be in a movie (in which the character did not need to be). She wore a push up bra to the audition. She got the part. The director claims he never remembers saying that about her. But she does and always will.

There’s no doubt she’s talented and becomes the character she portrays!!! BUT, when in a movie, for a few, forgettable minutes, like Suffragette, where she plays Emmaline Pankhurst, (the rich socialite, whose role in suffrage is still debated by British historians), she’s guaranteed nominations every award, unjustifiably, thus robbing a talented, lesser known, the chance to be noticed and considered, for future movies, in a competitive industry. Many famous, award-winners, have volunteered, uncredited cameos, for longer parts, because they like the movie and in doing so, save the studio, SAG wages. Her part could’ve been played, by any British actress, without notice! It has become tiresome that she’s nominated in any movie she is in, even if said movie, bombs at the box office! Her name is a draw, for new movies, no doubt and I am a fan, esp. of movies she’s done, that don’t replay on TV, ie: Silkwood, Postcards From The Edge, Heartburn, etc., etc., where SHE IS THE MOVIE!!! I just feel she could be more generous to her peers, in such a competitive industry, that some of her own daughters, have entered! I’m not a fan of her using award ceremonies, as a bully pulpit, to both insult and lecture the country about politics, etc. Nor am I a fan of her worship of Weinstein, whose reputation was known by many older actors, or Polanski, the pedophile rapist, still living in exile to avoid criminal charges, who Streep jumps up to start an ovation, whenever his name is mentioned at any of these, self-congratulatory, numerous, award shows. 🙄

However, they had money, good genes, and could afford the best facialists, dermatologists and plastic surgeons. Plenty of actors and actors do the same and don’t need any weird substances. Most people haven't a clue, which is actually wonderful because it shows how she has and continues to keep her family and private life out of the media. She also has four kids, where did she find the time for that! She is a very solid person I think. When you see so many celebs push their families into the media etc, ugh! Then I realize it’s because I’ve been smiling for so long and don’t even realize it. When ever I’m feeling down or just not in a good mood I go and watch a video about Meryl. I’ve always loved her. Such a great actress.

Whenever I think, “Oh no, Meryl, AGAIN,” I just look at all her extraordinary roles and know that she deserves every award and accolade. It is a little jarring though to see scenes from the hilarious Death Becomes Her and the harrowing Sophie’s Choice.

She has one of those faces, which on some level is plain, but her bones are perfect. When I see her adaptations into different characters, hair, make up, etc. it’s hard to realize it’s the same woman. Then she is always beautiful in a new way. She is a canvas for a make up artist.

At first I was a little surprised to see how much she curses, then I remembered she's from NJ 😂

I loved her in Julie Julia. She played Julia Child and was extraordinary! Oh yeah, great role in the Bridges of Madison County, too. So many great films! She's superb and deserving of every award!

I loved her in doubt. And she had a scene with viola. That was powerful.

You can tell she's from the generation where saying swear words is nAuGhTy... each time she does it, and she does it alot. Lol it's not that funny ,but I love her anyway.

Funny you said this because when Meryl first hit the scene, people were saying she was the next Bette Davis and Davis was so offended haha

"Did (Katherine Hepburn) have four (Oscars)?" "Yes." Oh well...whatever😒." According to a biography written about Katherine Hepburn: she approved of Julia Roberts acting. However, she DID NOT like Meryl Streep. In fact she said Meryl was her LEAST FAVORITE actress.😮

Kate Hepburn played some remarkable roles, but Meryl was much younger than she and making it big. I imagine Hepburn was more than a little jealous.

@@swarzeoz2550 I meant that Meryl was much younger than Kate was at that time in life, and I think it is hard for many older actresses to see the next talented young thing come along. Yes indeed, I have read books about her, and she could be very difficult. Certainly not as good as Meryl at acting, as she was one of those who seemed to always play herself while Streep is so versatile.

Love her,always have done for decades. She is so beautiful and very funny,had me in stitches watching this.

she's the greatest actress of all time.

Such a wonderful actress, in my opinion. She works her craft seamlessly. You forget the name of the actress when she is playing a role, because she is that good. She seems to chose all the right roles that are suited for her amazing talent.

One of the most impressive acting careers in Hollywood. No role is out of reach. Show me something she cannot do. I admire and love watching her in anything!
