You're maybe assuming crazy is an insult or a bad thing. It's a bit of a Britishism but we do often say things like "They're crazy and I love them for it." I've done many things, too, both on and offstage. Actors shouldn't give notes to other actors because the director is the "leader" of the show and has the aesthetic of all aspects of the show. An actor only sees from their perspective and the note may not fit with the director's vision.
