Even the show runners thought of it as a love story between Merlin and Arthur, even saying that in the commentary. The final two episodes sadly are the only two that they really go so far as to be almost blatant about it - short of declarations or a kiss (which frankly, they should have had the declaration because it was true and even if you don't ship them, they DID love each other, whether you want to view that as platonic or romantic, and Arthur was fucking dying, and to have him say Thank You - something he has said MORE than once throughout 5 seasons really was just ridiculously pointless). They just sadly took the coward's way out there, as far as dialogue went - but Colin and Bradley more than mad up for that (and honestly, they did throughout the whole of the series - it's boggling to see people watch this show and see the way they look at each other and NOT get the clear indication that there is something MORE there between the characters). That said, in the final two episodes, they made such a point about it being a love story about Merlin and Arthur that there was literally nothing about Arthur and Gwen - he wasn't upset that he wasn't going to see his wife again, he didn't send any kind of message back to her with Gaius. The ring wasn't a token of his love, it was the symbol she needed to be able to rule Camelot, because Arthur KNEW that he wasn't going to survive, but he was going with Merlin, spending his remaining hours left with the person that had loved him, that he loved most in his too short life, because despite being upset about the magic, there was no one else that he wanted to spend his last moments with. All you have to do is WATCH the way they look at each other, the way they touch in that episode and you KNOW they loved each other, and not in a platonic way. It's also clear that Colin assumes or is at least playing Merlin as gay or bi at the very least from the interview where he talks about Merlin's romantic prospects and how he gets a romantic interest and the show kills HIM off -pause-...or her. So it would not at all be a stretch to think that he'd be playing Merlin as falling for Arthur, since he's in Arthur's back pocket every day, saving his life, becoming closer, and Arthur becoming a better man because of his relationship with Merlin. It's not at all that hard to believe either that Gwen was a beard - as all King's require a Queen and an heir. Several times in the beginning the relationship sounds less about love and more about how Gwen would like to be Queen because of what she could do in the position for the people of Camelot - better than some rando-Princess from a neighbouring kingdom. And Lancelot did leave, trying to be all noble, by leaving Gwen to Arthur (though it's actually quite horrifically sexist - though sadly likely accurate for the period in time - that either man should be making that decision for her without even TALKING to her), so of course she said yes to Arthur but she obviously would have chosen Lancelot if he had stayed because HE was the one she actually loved. There are SO many things throughout the series that suggest that Merlin and Arthur were more than friends - GOD, just look at that scene where Arthur is telling Merlin that the Knights are more than brothers to him and Merlin tells him he understood, wishes he didn't but he does. The WAY that Bradley looks at Merlin - JAYSUS if that isn't love.

I totally agree. I watched this show twice and almost a third time, but I honestly couldn't get through it a third time because 1) I have a million other shows to watch and 2) I couldn't handle that he didn't heed Kilgarrah's warnings. But I realize that it was becauae he didn't heed them that made the story, but eventually lead to Arthur's death and I'm too weak to go through that emotional pain a third time 😭❤ I still love them, though

I think it would have made him rather heartless if he had blindly listened to everything Kilgharrah said... I keep going through the story in my head, trying to think of things he might have done differently, but always come up short 😔

I liked to imagine merlin being tired of waiting and trying to kill himself in the lake and arthur arises and saves him and the get to know eachother again and fall in love and merlin tells him about how much freedom they have now and i know hes immortal

The same with you, but I think that in that time of history, there is no idea about the love between man. So that Arthur did not know that he loved Merlin. :D They are fall in love each other but they didn't know.

_Never_ take this down. This video is by far my favorite out of the thousands of Merlin videos on this website. It’s so beautiful. The quote at the beginning is so true, and the last quote redeemed my hope for the future and strengthened my love for these two, and the whole show for that matter. You somehow managed to capture the essence of _Merlin,_ the love and inspiration and heartbreak that we feel from it. I hate to admit it, but this show has comforted me in every way and it almost feels like these characters are my friends. I feel like I’ve known them my whole life. And you have skillfully and beautifully captured it. Thank you so much.

These two are such a lovely pair. She was right, they really are like two sides of the same coin.

Merlin and Arthur is about a love story and I believe the creators and producers of this show intended that way. But, because it was framed and outlined as a family TV show, the writers and producers had to hide their intentions by using class divisions, magic and loyalty as a backdrop. And this "love video" proves it and has all the magic as well.

is it really Arthur or is it Bradley's admiration for Colin? Bradley's eye often glow so bright when he looks at Colin/Merlin and. I think Colin is the reason they do give away his emotions

Although Merlin is leaving Netflix, I'm glad that videos like this will hopefully always be available to watch... it's videos like this that keep the show and the fandom alive.

The intro is beautiful as it is accurate. Damn ten seconds in and I'm already on a verge of tears.. EDIT: _This is enchanting._ You made such a sad yet fantastically beautiful video, I have no words to describe how much it affected me. It did make me cry, I admit, but it also made me smile with eyes filled with tears. It's like, the whole show, what makes *_Merlin_* so dear and special to me, has been summarized in 7 minutes. Arthur and Merlin's relationship is extraordinary. I have never once seen anything like it. My heart aches to think about the ending and how unjust it was, to Merlin especially. We all know how much Merlin wanted to tell Arthur the truth and when he finally did, Arthur was taken away from him. And then he spent all those years alone, still waiting for his beloved prince. I can't help but break at that thought. The outro really touched me. It strangely brings me hope. I wish they had already met or will meet again someday. Thank you for making this video.

JESUS. Here, just take my heart, why don't you. The key to making an emotional video like this is using happier music with the tragedy underneath. Out of all the emotional Merthur videos I've watched, this is hands down the best. Brilliantly done.

In just 7 minutes, you managed to capture everything that makes Merlin and Arthur's relationship so unique and unbreakable, and that requires a lot of skill. this is an actual masterpiece. It makes me feel so many things... I'm really blown away. This video tells the story of two men, who risked their life for each other soo many times, they literally have the greatest friendship I've ever seen - of any show! And yet they don't want to risk another step. The aren't a couple, just because they'd rather pretend to love someone, who they actually don't love, than loving the man that they are really passionate and loving for. Nevertheless their relationship is gold - and it always will be. #longlivetheking Thank you for that great video. ♡

Of all the series i watched this series made me fall in love with the characters. I just actually watched it this month and found out it was an old series.

this was so great!!!! first time I watched I felt Merlin's love for Arthur, second time I felt Arthur's love for Merlin, this time I felt both. I think if you add Arthur said to Merlin "I can't bear to lose you." and "no man is worth your tear" this video will reach perfection!

Oh, don't mind me, I'm just going to crawl into a corner and weep for a few hours. This has to be one of the best videos I have ever seen! Not just Merthur videos, but all videos. I thank you my friend, from the bottom of my heart for spending 4 years making this, so fan girls like me all over the world can cry and ship Merthur even more.

I'd pay real money if I knew what strange forces are responsible for the weird chemical processes going on inside me while I watch this. My breathing gets irregular, it sometimes even feels difficult to breath, my heart is disturbed by some sort of constriction while my vision gets blurred and at some point threatens to start the waterwork. I was perfectly fine one moment, then start watching this clip and bang! turn into a heap of mess before it even ends. It's very strange. What has the show and particularly those two actors done to me? If someone wants me to sign over my inheritance or firstborn, making me watch your video often enough would be the way to break me into doing it. Well done, good work!

Many thanks for your choice of clips and music so beautifully edited. This was definitely a love story between two men. It has happened since the beginning of times. Luckily for all the fans, the actors played it to perfection. James Bradley gave a moving, credible interpretation of Arthur's last 2 days with Merlin. The incredible talented Colin Morgan, playing Merlin was on top of his game since season 1 and his pain, crying at the end, is the best interpretation I have seen in my life... and I am old.

This is a high heavenly good montage to the serie and its two main stars. I can see the apeal and i can understand where merlin/arthur came from, though i have only viewed them as bromance in the sense of brotherhood. But either way this showcase that close bond those two have and i adore these kind of actor dinamics because they just make magic on the screen.

I'm gonna come back to this after I watch the series. I think I want to avoid the spoilers throughout?
