@@Zinjadu100 There are just… certain episodes where Greg is clearly between one and three sheets to the wind, and yeah, if you watch enough of him, you learn the difference. To get the most accurate barometer of how-intoxicated-is-Greg-in-this-one, I’d rewatch his rum tasting video. He tries like 27 of them, starting completely sober, ending nearly incoherent. Man, if I ever get bored enough, I’m totally going to make a scale of Greg intoxication using the number of rums as the measure.

This is a random place to comment this. But I'm glad to have been around to watch the show grow into what it is. 4-5 years ago and in the beginning we had suave bartender persona Greg doing these short, mild-moderately informative cocktail videos. And now we've got to know the man for the lovable nerd he is; not to mention seeing the traditional formula expanded and newer video ideas like this coming out and adding to the interest. Keep on doing what you're doing Greg. Been here since 40-50K or something, and I've loved every second of it.

1:04 Brazilian here, and I'd like to talk for a bit about the "cachaça is rum" debate if anyone's interested. I will start by conceding that yes, cachaça is pretty much the same as rhum agricole (don't tell my Brazilian friends I said that!), _however_ It was probably developed _before_ most rums (surely before rhum agricole was first distilled in the French Caribbean, cachaça probably started being distilled in engenhos -- Brazilian sugarcane plantation -- as early as the 1530s), but the process is very similar (I think it's perfectly reasonable to say that every spirit distilled from sugarcane products is a type of rum). Besides that, there is clearly a distinct culture that has developed around cachaça and cachaça-making which is separate from Caribbean rum -- believe me when I say cachaça is a huge deal in Brazil, and the differences between cachaças can be even bigger than the differences between, say, Cuban and Jamaican rum. Don't think that cachaça is "just" Brazilian rum, and that if you've drunk one, you've drunk all. There is a lot of variety, and if a drink enthusiast is ever in Brazil it's highly encouraged to try many different types, neat or in a well-made caipirinha. Sidenote, it is possible (though not likely) that the caipirinha is actually a Brazilian version of the old-fashioned. It was probably invented in high-class cocktail parties thrown by rich São Paulo landowners during a shortage of whisky, which was (and still is) widely consumed in Brazil, in order to appease old-fashioned drinkers (hence the similar preparation -- a caipirinha is not shaken like a daiquiri, even though the ingredients are the same -- spirit, lime and sugar --, but built in the glass in much the same way as an old-fashioned).

As long as you reference the original creators (in this case Rhett and Link) it should be fine. The GMM crew doesn't seem to be super petty in either case, they are not exactly Disney or J K Rowling (who both BTW borrowed a lot of ideas themselves but get upset if anyone do the same of them). But I think Greg should have borrowed the dart board instead and competed with someone where strange local booze or drinks come from, that would be highly entertaining.

Great show & love the idea of experimenting! I do love a good old fashioned. Of the ones here I'd love to try the Mr. Black Whistle Pig Coffee O.F., maybe treat it like a morning/brunch drink, like you would have a mimosa or bloody mary. That Gosling's Rum O.F. sounded wonderful!! I'd like to see you play around more with that Ancho Reyes O.F. too, adding instead that honey syrup & salt or other spice. Maybe whenever you make a drink, but have other ideas afterwards,...write them down & do a whole show of "Second Try" drinks.

Excellent work from everyone at how to drink as usual. My favorite videos are the ones that make me want to try and make the cocktail, I found none in this one but entertaining nonetheless. I turned 21 last year so I don’t have a ton of time training my palate, I would have to say old fashioned used to be my favorite because it used my favorite spirit and it was super easy. BUT! After making Craig’s favorite gin drinks it definitely turned me to where I think gin is my favorite spirit at least for mixing. My go to quick drink is now a Tom Collins with various syrups that I have made thanks to your channels help. I am currently experimenting with infusing lavender into a London dry. Around 500 ml with 4 tbsp of lavender flowers infused For about 4 hours. I feel like I’m piggybacking off of the earl grey marTEAni tbh. But here is how I have made the lavender drink. 1oz blue Berry syrup 2 oz gin 2 dash ango bitters .75 oz Lemon Shake with ice I find that it has a nice lavender flavor at the beginning a little bit of sour in the middle but not to where it overtakes the blueberries that come in at the end. It is however nothing special in my opinion, just being honest. I would be welcomed to try anyones suggestions to help me improve this cocktail. I have tried adding mint, misting the glass with a bit of Jägermeister, different bitters etc. I haven’t tried adding egg white, but it’s on my list.
