Victor Claudio was a diesel mechanic in the Coast Guard. When he got out of service, he decided to keep training as a mechanic because he enjoyed being outside and doing technician work. He enrolled at Marine Mechanics Institute (MMI) in Orlando, Florida.
Today, Victor is a marine technician for Mercury Marine. He says he enjoys troubleshooting engines and fixing what's wrong with them.
Victor says he enjoyed the flexibility MMI offered students, who were able to take classes at night and work during the day if they chose. He advises MMI students to take advantage of the time you’re there and to grasp everything the instructors are teaching you by taking notes and studying.
The curriculum at Marine Mechanics Institute is geared toward all students interested in joining today's marine mechanic workforce. Enrolling in MMI does not require previous marine experience. Our students span from having zero prior marine knowledge to those who come from a family of mechanics looking to further their abilities.
