It was served real well. I have no regrets whatsoever. It's quite a change from what I had (an 80's Merc 7.5 hp). As for price, it wasn't cheap but well worth it IMO.

My brother inlaw sat on the wrong side too and he realized pretty fast something didn't feel right like somebody twisting your arm behind your back.

Been working just fine since I've had it.

I solver the well hidden mystery after many trying days. The prop nut thread is M12 X 1.5mm on a 2006 and later Mercury , 25 hp, 4 stroke, EFI. Carry a spare nut along with a spare prop. I bought 6 stainless locking M12 X 1.5 mm on Amazon for $12. Imagine how you will feel if you drop your prop nut in the water.

I've got a short transom. Yeah, the 4 stroke is heavier without question but the boat handles it well. It actually handles it better than I though it would. Most of the 15 ft boat's I've looked at are rated for a 25 so a 1542 should handle it fine. I would look at getting an all welded boat however. If I ever get back in the market that's what I'll be looking for.

CMC manual jack plate. Can't remember the model. Found it used and couldn't beat the price. Needed the set back for the blind.

I did not notice any water coming from pee hole! Does it supposed to come out?

Thank you. I think it's trimmed down to far also but I have tried it at different settings and this is where it seems to run the best. I'm getting about 25 mph with it. I've tried adjusting the jack plate and the trim. Seems that position is the best. IDK.

What do you think your top speed is I'm looking at getting the same boat. Also how is it on rough water. I live on a bay where the water can be a bit rough.

I just bought a 2015 for my 1448 boat. I love it so far. I'm calling the dealer to see what they can do to bump it to a 30 h.p.

1. I'll bet the boat is not rated for a 30. 2. Why would you buy a new motor and not get the hp you want to begin with

carolinagreenhead yeah the boat is only rated for a 25 but I had a 30 h.p 2 stroke on it. The only reason I want to ask the dealer all the specs are the same in the owner's manual to the 25-30 hp bore size and everything

Yeah mine is to. The owners manual is for both motors but they are still separate motors. I dunno man, give it a shot. Let me know how it turns out. I don't think insurance will cover it if thats a concern. Good luck.

I called they said they would have to change the ECM to reprogram the fuel. More money then I want to spend lol

how has the motor served you so far? i am thinking about getting the exact same one on a 1540 alumacraft. if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay new?

How much does that 25 mercy weigh ? I'm use to the 2 strokes and wanting to get my hands on a 4stroke

approximately 180 lb

curious is this motor will work on my 15'4 gheenoe. I can get it for $900 with 3 year warranty. Wondering if its way too heavy before I go check it out. Because a four stroke yamaha 25 is huge.

Not at all. Never a minutes trouble. It pops off every time I touch the button. When it's really cold out then it will be a bit slow but still starts up with no issue.

It comes from almost the rear of the motor.

Is your arm getting sore?

its been 9 years now that you've had the mercury 25 any issues with the motor?look to to get the 2021 mercury 25hp with trim tilt and tiller. ty god is great!!

sold it in 2015. All I've had are mercury's and never an issue as long as you take care of them.

It looks like water is almost coming over the back of the boat and the motor is really low in the water. I just bought the same engine for my ssv 16 so we'll see how it works

@@toppin7114 it had troubles planing with more than three people in the boat. The only thing that kept me from putting a 40 on it was the cost. If that doesn't bother you I'd go 40 any day of the week.

Would a Merc 25 4 stroke be too big for a 1648 MV Alumacraft? Thanks for any answers.

If anything I think it would be a bit small but you need to check to see what your boat is rated for to be sure.

Buddy of mind just got 25 HP Merc He says when he goes full throttle it pulls to the right and he says he has to fight to keep it straight.. What's going on with it does anyone have a clue?..

It's called torque steer. It happens because of the rotational direction and force of the prop. There is a small "fin tab" down by the prop, that you adjust to help compensate for this some.

How much woukd you say these motors are worth

top speed is 25 roughly empty. As for rough water, I get off the water.

And what happens if you dont break the motor in at 1/4 throttle?

It is heavy with electric start

You should try lift you're engine up if possible.. You have allot of drag now

WAYYYY too big for that boat. The motor shouldnt be almost submerged in the water like that. a 15 HP would suit you much better. but a nice motor none the less.

A 4 stroke is always heavier because the gears and other stuff other than a 2 stroke

An evinrude 60hp e-tech, which is a 2 stroke engine, is heavier than a mercury 60hp 4 stroke

evinurde is 240lbs, mercury is 260lbs. The mercury 4 stroke is 20lbs heavier
