I like the seat folding mechanism, it helps it achieve that gloriously flat load bay.

You should've upgraded this car with the optional new sound editor. To level up and equalize the sound of your videos.

You said it had a 9 speed auto at the start, then said it had a 7 speed auto with a low range

the boot is huge, there should be a 3rd row option, theres lots of space

Mat, I do really like how you presented the cars like fake pumps and cheapy plastic parts inside the too expensive and luxury cars. 😊 It's brilliant and thanks for the presentation.

Personally thinking the command system is far much better than the iDrive... I don't like the fact with iDrive you have to keep on pressing the back button when returning to sat nav or audio... With command unit you just have to hit what ever option and then forget about it

Do a review on the GLS, it looks the bollox!

Those interior door handles are in dire need of an update.... They've remained the same from the M class of the early 2000s!

PunjabiKudiUK Personally l better like their renamed cars like ML (now GLE), GLK (now GLC), GL (now GLS) and SLK (now SLC) which makes it less confusing. Since GLE is a SUV E-Class, GLC is a SUV C-Class, GLS is a SUV S-Class. In 2013/14, Mercedes-Benz introduced their GLA and CLA, so that's probably way they renamed the ML, GLK, GL to GLE, GLC, GLC retrospectively

They initially had to pay BMW for using the protected „M“ term in M-Class, due to their patent on „M“-cars (e.g. M3...)

Thorbjørn Madsen I find each of them equally luxurious. Mercedes just decided to include every type of SUV there is GLS being the full-size, GLE being mid-size, GLC being the compact, and GLA being the sub-compact.

Am I the only one who loves cars with that numpad for phone calls? I've got a new BMW without it and it's just a hassle to enter phone numbers with a rotary dial.

Voice command isn't available for every language. And I'm not sure you can dictate numbers and get the car to call that.

Oscar Lee Nobody uses number pads anymore. I just press a button on my steering wheel and say "call whoever". If you are dialling a number on some keypad, who's watching the road?

i just bought GLE 350d 4Matic AMG Night Ed Prem + 9G-Tronic Night Edition, Automatic. from carwow. Original price for this model was £62,615 with finance i paid £47,806. that is %23.7 discount AND %5 interest, its like buying mortgage very low interest rate. if you go to auto trader even it cost £5k MORE for 1 year old GLE. I bought it from Guildford Mercedes. Best family car without hesitation.... Note: DO NOT BUY 2.1 diesel. (this is not Mercedes engine, its share engine with Renault with belt NOT CHAIN engine ) you ll want to buy 350d true Mercedes engine and a lot of power And very economical compare with others. DO NOT buy NY A-B- or C class. i purchased CLA shooting brake. wore car ever gave it back to Guilford Mercedes after 4 month losing over £8k. thats how i found out its Renault engine on A,B and C class.... true Mercedes stars from E class and onwards

Anyone who'd buy this old dog when they could have the XC90 would need their head testing!

Nope, I considered the X90 but couldn't get over the fact that it only came with a 4 cylinder diesel engine. I have had 4 E Classes with the V6 engine and it's refinement and abundance of torque far out way anything with a 4 pot. I think Volvo have shot themselves in the foot somewhat but maybe its because they are charging headlong towards hybrids..

For some reason it reminds me of those large coffin-carriers at funerals. Matt, make a series of special vehicles like hearses, ice cream vans etc. (before Carthrottle do). ;)

Salesman at Mercedes tried to persuade me to buy one of these.. But I went for the new top spec e-class instead, it's not as spacious but is much much better.. GLE really does feel like an old car, whereas E-class has all the latest features and technology (It can drive itself on motorways!). But that infotainment system really is the worst I've ever seen. Sat nav is a pain to use :( so I'm probably gonna wait for the new 5-series and swap then

Hello Matt..did you know that the swivel wheel underneath that touchpad can be moved left, right, up n down.? Haven't seen u mention it any of the merc reviews..Been using my GLE for 3 years now, and I found this out today..thought i might share it with you..✌😊

Omg mat has changed soo much over 5 yrs

Merc is getting bad for cost cutting ideas, especially plastics. But then some BMW 3 series owners say their windshields are saint gobain and the side windows are some funky chinese brand. They're all doing it.

So, if this competes with the Audi Q7 and RR Discovery, what is the Mercedes GLS competing with? Surely with the Audi and Disco?

I really love Mat's personality. He's good.

Review the S-Class , XJ , 7 Series and A8 and later on do a comparison of those 4 . Or something like GLS , Q7 , X5 , XC90 and Range Rover Sport review and comparison of those

Brilliant always. But i wouldn't mind an opinion at the end. Nothing about whether you think people should buy it etc... simply whether you like it or not.

Mat - How does the ride comfort in this compare with the XC90 (both on air suspension). I know the XC90 doesn't absorb bumps on rough roads that well. I'm having to decide between this SUV (with the new, smaller "43" petrol engine) and the XC90 T6 (must get a petrol SUV or I'll get DPF probs with my driving).

The old vs new gle are so weird... the new one look so much better

Adam N That plastic above the rear view mirror are sensor for windshield wipers when it's raining. Just like most cars

Matt you seriously need to take these cars off roading to show the capabilities so we know what it's capable of even though it will never be used for that

As I do fold the back seats down regularly and need a flat, and not inclining or stepped floor, then this way of folding the seats is the best way. It is not awkward and not 'old fashioned' , why is it modern to accept a cheaper and compromised mechanism? You should be pulling manufacturers up for their shocking compromised and praising the likes of Mercedes.

I love the review, and based on the result i’m going for it💪

Mat before Burberry 😂 time flies

It’s such a shame I have the plug in hybrid model... it takes up so much of the boot space! It’s fun to drive, and comfortable as hell, though. Fuck that’s a terrible metaphor. It’s comfortable as heaven. Oh, and it does 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds. It’s really fun to scare the shit out of your friends by stepping on the prissy pedal... What’s really annoying is that the badge is GLE 500e, so every time I say Mercedes 500 (which used to be my R129 SL500) I’m like “I mean the SL”
