The Audi looks like a Volkswagen to me. No distinction and the technology is old. The Benz is a nice, modern vehicle of a different level.

If you are a fan of 1990s style seats, a cheapo stand-up navigation system (reminds me of the ones on Corolla), and flimsy dashboard pieces, the you’ll be happy with a Q5. I prefer to spend my money on something of better quality and modern technology - crazy, huh?

GLC wins, in my opinion. Great review I never buy new. So bargain for cheaper used. What about reliability.

Recently it was time for me to upgrade cars. I looked at X5, Q5, GLC, and GLB. Surprisingly I ended up getting the Mercedes GLB. I LOVE their new interiors. I wanted the updated GLC, but they hadn’t entered production yet. ☹️ Next time. 🤣 I used to be a huge VWAG fan, but the last Audi I had was 🗑️ and hopefully avoiding some issues going with the Mercedes. 🤞🏻 Time will tell. The Q5 is long overdue for a refresh and I don’t find this comparison fair since the GLC was literally just refreshed.

Brilliant video.

The Q5 still carries the industrial approach, I would say. To me interiors are not a deal breaker, and the touch AC controls are a strict NO. So, I would pick the Q5.

Had a q5, 40 tdi, 2022 - the car (brand new) was making a whistling sound when accelerating, so at around 2000rpms. It sounded as if someone was blowing air through a straw. Interestingly, the noise was more pronounced in the warmer weather and when the engine was warmed up. In Audi while acknowledging the unusual noise (it took a while), they could not find the reason why it was happening, as everything “seemed fine”. The same happened in a replacement car. I ended up selling it and going for another brand having driven Audi for the past 20 years 😢

I have a question please, which one of those would prefer for three kids (rear seats), i should install 3 child seat, or at least 2 and the third kid will have just a normal seat

Considering how old of a design and model the Q5 is, I would have expected a notable advantage for the GLC. Instead you are getting a minimal superiority, if any. For sure a moral victory for the Q5.

Maybe but at least the Audi is not using a bolted-on iPad as its speedometer.

Rented a2019 GLC300 w/AMg line package that was fun. But I bought a 2023 Q5 45 S Line The ride is so mich better and smoother. I think its because of multi link Front suspension . Rented a newer GLC again and yup cant compare the ride quality to Audi.

As a Mercedes and Audi lover I'll take the Q5! But I still love the GLC

I have been searching for a car in this segment for a while now, so let me chime in a little. Mercedes GLC, especially in hybrid form, is simply the best in this segment. Not that it is higher quality than its rivals (it isn’t) it is the only one with latest tech and only one that can deliver cars with latest tech without chip problems. BUT the GLC prices dealers quote me are the same as BMW X5 hybrid prices. The X5 is unquestionably the better car. So the only remaining quality to the GLC is that it is smaller, which is a positive thing for some people. Went with an XC60 instead. Costed 15+k less than the GLC :)

I just love the Q5 overall. The functional interior. Suttle exterior, the best engine and nice power on the upgraded electric motor. GLC too flashy for me

The Mercedes should be better considering it’s a brand new model and the Audi is at the end of its life cycle

Well the Q5 has a redesign coming soon so it's like comparing apples and oranges right now. I had a Q5e PHEV last year and now have a Etron (soon to be Q8 Etron) now and love it just as much as my Q5e.

One of the things I like least about Mercedes is all the "drooping" body lines, think the GLC is one of their better looking designs.

Mercs interior screens looks really retrofitted...😅 Hopefully Audi also ditches that tablet-looking center screen in future models...

19 rim verse 21 rim on air suspension is a big handling difference.

Great comparaison, but please guy invest in a better camera. The last videos are so dark!

Thanks! Our camera is good, maybe you perceive some shots as dark because there was hard sunlight which requires aperture close of the camera

Thing is, at maxed-out configurations, both arrive at 95 - 100 k-ish EUROs right now, so... Maybe better wait for the new Q5 that's right around the corner?

I drove several new mercedes and I just cant enjoy the infotainment system that they use.. It is so cumbersome that just connecting my phone by bluetooth was difficult, it just isnt intuitive, and the audi system is just straight to the point and easy to use. Besides that I dont like the screens just floating in the interior of the Mercedes

Rear axle steering, quite interesting

Hard plastics on lower part of doors are unacceptable, seems like every new generation is looking to be more cost efficent by removing higher quality materials here and there

glc in ireland now stats at 82k euro, so its definatly a no no in terms of price

Massage seats in Audi Mercedes is so cheap not doing massage seats makes a real difference if you drive long ways .. stalk shift is terrible

Those Audi seats will begin splitting in 4-5 years. The interior looks like it was made at the same factory as a Volkswagen Golf. Functional, but very out-dated and some of the pieces are very flimsy. No thanks.

I'll go with the GLC

I know Mercedes is more luxurious but there's something abt the Audis that attract me more towards them. Their Quattro system is more successful over Merc's 4matic.

GLC for looks Q5 for driving exp

Mercedes GLC all the way. Spoil you with the futuristic interior design and technology

Should have used the Lexus NX as Audi and BMW are getting new models in 2 or 3 years.

the mercedes interior looks more like an office than car interior; even the cockpit is a plain rectangular screen, then on the console another rectangular screen. there s no feeling you're in a car.

@An.N. even if that was true, it would still make you feel at the wheel of a car. Everybody's praising the Mercedes interior design, but really, it's not that hard to stick 2 rectangular tablets in a car and call it a day. Where's the designing ingenuity in that? For me, as a customer, it would be more like an insult. They're asking 90k on a car, and when I get into it, I'm looking at an office with 2 screens, basically. I agree the rest looks nice, but the 2 screens are ruining everything for me.

Definitely Mercedes interieur. In Audi it is like they forgot about the middle display and placed an ipad on a car kit in the end. Mercedes for me.

I would go for AUDI Q5 all the way , the Mercedes interior its overwhelming . Audi Q5 is more classy and user friendly . plus using a tablet as a spedometer is ugly . the only thing I don't like about the Audi Q5 infotainment system . plus the Audi comes with ambient lightning which he didn't mention + wireless charging. The only thing that Mercedes kicked as the Audi is exterior which is a deal breaker of course

Enjoy paying for Service B, C, D, etc. for the GLC :D

As far as I know, there are only A service and B service. The A service is around $280, I think, and the B service is around $700. Not that bad.

My money would be on the GLC, more advanced. Audi outdated still the same might as well buy a 10 year old Q5 not much difference. That iPad sticking up on top is shocking.

The Mercedes looks great inside and out, but I would go for the Audi Q5. I like the more simple interior design with physical climate control buttons. The Mercedes is just too pretentious looking on the inside.

GLC interior looks great and it drives well but did they forget drivers have legs...literally nowhere for your right need with that unnecessarily large consol intrusion.

Q5 will have a new design around March of 2024, it will be fair to compare by then

I prefer the fake exhaust tips; they only get corroded with exhaust soot and mean extra work in clean-ups.

Not if you clean your vehicle every week. But they have to be cleaned by hand - like the whole vehicle actually, including inside the doors.

@@mart_en aah the rear you meant, i sat in the passenger seat. That one was very cramped. And legroom in Q5 is not small, its judt that the Q3 has good rear legroom. Q5 for example has better legroom than the bmw x3

Mercedes wins hands down, its newer and looks much better on the inside, Audi really left the Q5 aging badly, such a shame

@@pacmanc8103 I like VW interior, especially from past generation, when there were more physical button. But Audi positionuingmore premium and not every current their model feels that way. Some of their cars have nice fresh interior, but this Q5, A4 2023 have a really outdated interior, design and fuctionally wise. It could be fare for this models, cuz they are not at the top premium segment. But competitors in their price with similar price has already updated their cockpit.
