Any tips, known issues for checking when buying a used youngtimer E300e from this year and model with around 30k km on it? Or are 'Certified Mercedes' used-cars always a save buy with the 2 year guarantee?

Hey edwin2323, really sorry I’ve not worked on cars in that way so wouldn’t know for anything specific to look for. But if I was shopping for a car, I’d always check the usual things, condition of the interior/ exterior, tyres, brake pads, brake discs, cables for charging the car and of course all the spec and gadgets in a car. Haven’t heard of a 2 years warranty, I could have sworn it was a 1 year warranty as Mercedes dealerships but check with them and they can let you know. The battery I believe has a 6 year warranty which is pretty good. On a test drive, if I was buying one, I’d have it fully charged and drive up to 40mph / 60mph and just test the range of it and see how it performs. But if you’re buying from a Mercedes dealer they’ll be doing a lot of checks anyway but no harm in looking yourself 👍🏼

Just got mine yesterday. A saloon with all the bells and whistles. Its awesome.

Brilliant review, you've fast become the face of mecedes! This thing would haul caravans like they weren't even attached. Just a thought actually with the camping craze at the minute, what would be the most suitable for towing mid size vans but not an suv?

Aha 😇 New C-Class pricing and spec should be released for the UK later this month. Subject to the worldwide chip / semi conductor shortage, it was scheduled by around September time. So I hope it doesn’t get delayed!

VERY informative as ever. Is it better to keep a MB GLE locked or unlocked in home garage : when unlocked front ventilation grille stays opening and closing every 10 mins or so and occasionally headlamp turns spontaneously on. This seems to stop when locked. Is there official advice please?

Hi Alan, I would definitely recommend locked, if you left it unlocked it could leave it vulnerable for theft and it may also use more power from battery when not in use. The vents on the front will open and close automatically when the car’s running to help the engine warm up faster and thus making it more economical.

I would bet your insurance company would not honour a theft or breakin claim if it was unlocked, garage or no garage.

Hey thomaspajor, I would love to however it’s a rare one in the UK. On UK specification it’s only available on GLC 63’s currently. I will cover heads up display in the future but I just waiting to get my hands on a car to do it.

Hey Ken, oh I’d never say they’re a waste of time. Yes you’re right that some people do utilise them for tax purposes but for me, all of my journeys are under 15 miles each day. I could run on electric alone for 90% of the time and then use the engine for longer journeys. I’d love one!

I've enjoyed all your videos and found them very helpful in my New E400d Estate, which has a proper engine and fuel I know I can use and how far it will go. We will have to differ on PHV's I suspect. For me I’d always stick with black, however it is nice to see some other options from time to time. The lighter colours do require cleaning more often but that’s the same with anything that isn’t black.

Nick. The 3 litre petrol is a straight 6 not a V6 as you said.

Just thought I'd check this out as I've recently picked up a new C220d and I'm rather annoyed the instrument panel isn't customisable like in my old A Class (8:34), I guessed that the E would be the same as it's a very similar setup whereas the C is similar to the S. Grr, wish I could customise my instrument panel!

Hey Jealy, ah the new multimedia systems have completely different features one of which are the themes of course on the instrument cluster but because of this each dial can’t be configured like in older models

No, I haven’t heard of that one before on the E-Class Estate. Is that a petrol model?

@@npoleary Yes Petrol. It's the M256 engine which is the same engine (modified) as in the E53. In the E450 it has 367 HP + 22 HP EQ Boost (it's a mild hybrid). It's available in all body types including the Estate and All Terrain :)

So for the majority of Mercedes (when I produced this video at my local Mercedes some time ago) most models were wired Apple CarPlay which is why I offered the dongle / adapter. Of course you can connect via Bluetooth and some models offer wireless charging, just depends on the spec of the car.

The most grown up and sensitive car you can buy. Does it all. Pity about the front lookalike styling.
