Picked ours up in November, absolutely love it, swapped from a c-class coupe as we needed 4 doors. Got the premium plus as it was the only spec in stock. I will have the only electric Mercedes, so I know I will get aloy of attwntion from my neighbours 😊 I choose the CLA Coupe with Premium plus package. I'm not sure if I will regret not picking the AR camera and DashCam option, have you done a video on those options?

I’ve covered the Augmented Reality briefly in my MBUX video :) But unfortunately not the dashcam as it doesn’t exist in the UK. I’ve heard of it in other countries but not here

Thanks again Nick. You did not mention the slightly different rear suspension set up in the CLA. This certainly gives the car better handling than the A class. Also the seating in the CLA is much more supportive with of course the kinetic option available at premium plus level. There is also quite a lot of leather in the CLA apart from the seats, it extends through door cards and cappings and onto the dash. I agree that it is a shame that this four door coupe sector seems to be in decline. It may seem a cliche but to me most cars now look the same and it is difficult to tell them apart!

Yeah...I’ve heard that online too, but at the same time I have also heard it does get asked about quite a bit still! I love the CLA’s think there very stylish! Wouldn’t mind one myself 🤓 Just a couple of little extra bits compared to the A-Class

I know a few guys who work at our local dealership and they got me a hell of a deal. Anyways this is our first "nice" car so me and the wife are over the moon! Hey Daryl, thank you! It's one of the packages in the UK to get chrome in the vents with the Ambient Lighting. Currently it's the Premium Package to get this and if I recall this model I filmed was just standard equipment (excluding the paint).

Hi Nick, maybe you could do a basic comparison video of every class? Many people can't differentiate between each model, there are so many classes ! Like what makes S class an S, how to recognize C class, whats the difference between S and E and so forth :)

Hey Ian, unfortunately no, there’s no way to disable that. It should only be a subtle couple of beeps though. And if I recall, it should only sound when you use the door boot button or the one on the key.

Wow! Another great video, Nick! 🙂 What I said about the A-Class carries over to the CLA, but I have something to add with regards to the CLA alone. The CLA is truly a car that kept this dying segment alive and running for a little longer. The 4-door Coupé was a very popular segment back in the early 2000s thanks to the likes of the CLA and the CLS. Now it is not as popular, but the CLA is still one of the few cars that are still known and bought - more so than the CLS when considering profit margins. The CLA is doing much better. The CLA Shooting Brake does do the same for the Shooting Brake segment. Very lovely cars. 🙂 Hey, I was wondering if you may please do a video going in-depth on the new S-Class' head-up display...and please compare it to the head-up display that, say, the new GLS has. It is excellent, and more people need to know about it. Thank you, Nick. 🙂

However I need to get my hands on a car that’s registered with number plates, like a demo or something. The actual car in the S-Class video I filmed actually sold while I was filming so I didn’t get the chance :(

Really sorry I won’t be able to assist with exact specifics as to why you might not have it yet. It can be for a number of reasons such as the equipment in your Mercedes, it may not have had a software update yet or it genuinely may not be available where you live. Best thing to do is speak with the Mercedes me team and they may be able to point you in the right direction. You can get them on the Mercedes me app, top left and then press help.

Can I leave the Apple Carplay connector plugged in to the car all the time, or does that drain the battery?

No you can leave it plugged in :) The power turns off after a short while but comes back on when the car is unlocked / ignition is switched on

Does anyone else have a problem with their diesel CLA where the fuel economy all of a sudden drops drastically by like 20-25 mpg (even on a motorway run) and at the end of the journey, the engine fan is running on full? I've had my CLA for 3 months and it's happened at least a dozen times. I am mainly a long distance motorway driver so I don't think it's the short journey blocking the DPF syndrone

is this the denim blue ? looks so different in this video.. cla is a great car

Ooo very nice! Just keep an eye out for things like Executive, or Premium or Premium Plus as those add gadgets to the car. So they’ll contain things like keyless entry or a sunroof or even things like larger screens 🤓

Hi Attack Artist, yes I think so. Some specs were changed last year as part of a yearly spec change. If you wanted to know exact specifics, your local Mercedes can advise on those details as things can change over time.

Hi Nick, I got my CLA 250e two weeks ago. I'm pretty satisfied with it. However, I have back pains when driving it. I have tried all the seats positions but nothing works. Have you (or other clients) ever experienced the same thing? Do you have any advice for me? ( I have never had back pain while driving before). Thanks in advance.

Hey, I haven’t heard of anyone having back pains. Mercedes-Benz seats are renowned for being super comfortable on long drives. Do you have lumbar adjustment on there?

Honestly what I would do is just set your seat to something really random, like really far backward and reset the lumbar and then hop back in and kind of adjust it again. Hopefully you’ll get it into a slightly different position. Don’t forget the support under the legs as well and the seat extender bit! I’m sure one of the bits will help!

Hi Nick Confused, on the brochure officially as far as I can tell the coupe’s rear seats cannot be folded? ie if you refer to the technical info, boot capacity with seats up/ down is shown for the A class saloon, CLA shooting brake but there’s no measurements for seats down on the coupe?

Hey Phillip, Depends when it was made in the factory, but to narrow it down: If it’s the previous shape CLA, it’ll be 1,991 cc, 4-cylinder, 184 hp If it’s the new shape CLA, it launched with a 220 variant but is now no longer produced in the UK. But it’s 1,991 cc, 4-cylinder, 190hp. Hope that helps!

Hey Mark, depends on what you’re using On MBUX you cannot add any apps to the system, this facility doesn’t exist. However if you’re using Apple CarPlay, any apps that are compatible will appear automatically.

Hey Mark, thanks for replying. Android Auto is exactly the same, it runs off of your phone. A quick search on Google I can see it’s a known issue with Androids. I don’t own one myself so won’t be able to advise but the issue lies with the phone’s software.

Hi AI, The A220 petrol hasn’t been available since December 2019. Not that there was anything wrong with, it was really good. My guess is that Mercedes-Benz have just simplified the engines for sale. Currently Petrol engines in the line up are: A 180 A 200 A 250 A 250e (Plug-in Hybrid) A 35 A 45 S

Hey August Minega, Is your A-Class the new shape one? It launched in the summer 2018 and has MBUX. If it is, you can buy this from the Mercedes me store and download it to the car. If it’s the previous shape unfortunately it’s not something I can advise on as I have never attempted this. I also don’t think Mercedes-Benz dealerships have the ability to do this either. I have heard of aftermarket solutions before but you’ll have to go careful as the multimedia system runs quite a few things in the car and swapping it out with something else could cause problems.

hi Nick another great video, i've just taken delivery of my new cla premium plus could i ask you question have they done away with the ambient lighting in the headrests on the 2021 model ? ive emailed MB but no reply yet, thanks x

I have the cla premium plus and can confirm it has the lights in the front and back headrests. 🙂

@@dvd2156 Mine was June 2020 collection so can't see them removing it. You can only see them at night and I have my settings brightness to max. Do you still have all the lights in the doors and footwells? Could be a broken connection or something definitely get it checked.

@@SPYCRABFAN thanks for the reply I appreciate it, I’ve tried them on full brightness & different colours but there not on, I asked on a cla forum and they think they were removed on the 2021 models, just wanted to find out for sure before booking it in

@@dvd2156 I'm sorry to hear that, I'm really confused why it would be removed when I think it looks amazing. If this is true I'm very disappointed.

My 250e Shooting Brake will arrive.... around July... if I'm lucky. :-\ Do you know, Nick, if the smartphone integration is likely to go wireless someday... with a software update maybe?

Hey Sanaliekki, That’s cool, it’ll be worth the wait! Unfortunately I don’t think so, upgrades to hardware will usually happen at facelifts or new model launches so I don’t think it’ll happen for a while.

Hi nick I'm having a issue with my mbux system the driver side where the speedometer and fuel information is completely off the entertainment screen is fine, have you come across this issue before, I can't drive the car because I don't know what speeds I'm doing and makes it illegal to drive

The instrument cluster? That's not good :( That screen should always been on as there's no option to turn this on or off. I'd speak with your local dealership asap and get that looked at. Hope you get it sorted soon!

Can you please rectify one thing for me does the coupe get electric tailgate at all or not? And what is the best way to close the boot lid as I’ve tried it before and I had trouble closing it

Coupe’s on CLA Mercedes models in the UK are electrically releasing but swing up. To close them you just pull them down 🤓

User Friendly? There’s just a small section where your hand can go and you just pull it down Or just grab the boot on the paintwork and pull it down. It’s not heavy or anything like that. The Shooting Brake on the other hand is electrically operated 🤓

I know it has springs because you can see them as it closes but I wouldn’t know if it’s adjustable you’ll have to get in touch with Mercedes for that one!

When will the 250e shooting brake be available? I’ve been told October!

Hey David, sorry I don’t have access to lead times :( That does seem like a long time to wait but if that’s what’s been advised then I guess that’s right. I haven’t actually seen one yet (seen the coupe not the 250e S/B) I’m sure you wouldn’t be disappointed when you do get it!

Not had any issues with android auto or caraway on my CLA, what are you experiencing? Sometimes the problem can actually be the phone not the car itself.

It’s hard to believe that we are still having to plug in our phone to use CarPlay ? But i never use CarPlay in my A class MBUX does everything and looks better

Hey Mark, I know wireless CarPlay would be good however believe it or not there aren’t many manufacturers out there that have it yet. It is growing definitely...and I can’t wait for them all to have it! The S-Class that has just launched features a new version of MBUX that supports wireless Apple CarPlay! A first in a Mercedes...future models will hopefully get this too! I’ve got my fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Thanks for another great video. After watching it, I think that (when its appropriate for me to buy) I will go for the A-Class 250e instead of the CLA 250e. Reason: CLA differences are more stylish, but ultimately less useful. Examples: - CLA has pillarless windows. More stylish but more fragile. Loses to A-class. - CLA has unajustable headrests. More stylish but honestly they look super uncomfortable and maybe could even be a pain in the neck in the long term. A-Class wins with movable headrests. - CLA has bonnet grooves, slightly different headlights & slightly curvier body in the back, with slightly bigger boot. Looks awesome, no disadvantages. CLA Wins here, but previous points end up being more important for day-to-day which makes the A-Class the final choice overall. A-Class 250e Saloon AMG it is! (with all the bells & whistles of course, haha).

Excellent comparison Bulaxa! They do look almost identical but you’ll find there are subtle and slight differences like those that differentiate between the two. I wouldn’t my mind either to be honest! 😅

Looks like they downgraded the spec of the CLA Premium Plus, no heads up display, premium sound system, auto tailgate or wireless charging. My car, ordered last year, will not have these, but, of course, Mercedes haven't downgraded the price. Now there is a surprise!

Hi Jeff, yes so I’ve heard there are some models being affected by the semi-conductor shortage as cars do feature a lot of them. If you’ve got any questions though, if you speak with your dealership who’s looking after you, I’m sure they’ll do their best to help out and let you know the options available.

I do like your videos but asking a car to turn on heating seats then turning them off is 1/10th of the time is surely technology just for the sake of it.

Just one example Digital Junior! :) There’s hundreds of commands you can ask a car voice assistant some of which are faster than navigating through menus etc

2 things i dont get: why ...WHY would you want piano black plastic in a car, it is the worst, collects dust scratches and fingerprints like crazy. Also why would you pay extra for the CLA200 when a CLA180 can easily be tuned to around 170bhp same with the cla200 since im guessing its just the same engine with a different software. I'd go for the shooting brake by the way, something cool about saying you own a shooting brake.

Still can’t believe Mercedes doesn’t allow tethering to your phone and force you to use Vodafone with their extortionate rates for data. Really disappointing.

Hey D3383, Remember there are only a couple of things on MBUX that would make use of the internet through Vodafone. This is Tidal Music and the browser in the car. The main feature of internet in the car is like a router to send internet to your passengers devices. There isn’t anything else on the car that would make use of internet in this way so this is why you can’t tether your phone.
