all these cars should be sent back to Mecedes Dealerships an fixed for Free. they know about this No Start No Turn problem . Your CLK can even stop dead on the Motorway when engine, on Rare occasions, cuts out for no apparent reason which means they are a death trap!

Had this problem, might not work for everyone but try wiggling the steering wheel left to right and it sorted the problem. You should hear lock clonk then all dash lights appeared and the car started!

How do you distinguish whether the issue is with the steering lock or the Ignition

My car has those problems thx 4 a good video.

Can the motor still work and the esl still be bad??

I experienced this problem but the center dash odometer came on but nothing more. The steering lock motor didn’t lock or unlock as it normally does when you insert or pull out the key. I released the steering height adjustment and moved the steering up and down quite aggressively to cause a vibration. I then also turned the steering left and right while doing this because mine was stuck in the unlocked position. It seemed to have worked and the lock motor then engaged and disengaged normally. Not sure if this will happen again. Hope this helps.

Hi Ramiz, With your awesome knowledge have you encountered an engine light being on for w204 C320 CDI. Basically I was driving along and it was raining when in traffic my car just stopped and displayed on the dash Front Left and Front Right Airbag malfunction. Left rear blinker not working I noticed when a wonderful man jogging by pushed me off the main road (angels everywhere eh) the car won’t start and the radio/head unit dead. Seats can’t move at all and I have no idea why??? 😱 Any ideas??

Hi thanks for the comment Sorry for the late reply I don't think your issue with your car is the esl from what you described I think you have problems with you Sam modules it could be front Sam module But this is just a guess for a exact diagnosis you need to plug it in and check properly.

Happened to me today. But I saw another post. The guy yanked the steering to the right then put the key in. It should free the steering where. Then turn right then left and start the car. Works like a charm and no whacking needed

Had the same problem... key just turning wothout response or ignition... tried yanking the steering wheel all the way to the right and tried the key and worked like a charm! Still need to have the electronic steering locked sorted out buy thanks!

I changed my key fob batteries and then my car did not start no dash lights and no noise when put fob in any idea please

I have the exact same problem with exact same car..can you make a video where you solve the problem? Is there no easier way?

Can the esl do the same faults and also doesnt open Doors? I already took esl off because it has the dtc code that other units doenst communicate with the lock. Changed the motor on the esl and nothing happened

fazel Swith off , give steering wheel a good wiggle then try again. That usually works for my CLK 220 Cdi.

I have similar problem but lights come on but P is not highlighted had to turning ignition on and of few times and then starts any sugestion ?

ESL is failing get emulator service must send key,ignition barrel to company buy esl and programming then remove steering column to replace

cleaning the ignition barrel has worked before I have heard, i have the same problem now ;(

I have a 240C 2003 if it is below 70 degrees insert key fob nothing happins as temp warms up seeering n moter ingages but keyfob will not turn. after temp warms up insert fob steering lock motor ingages and key fob starts car.

I have same problem only thing is my middle light on dash comes on and steering lock is in witch won’t come off the key fob locks the car and opens and radio goes on aswell

@@darrondoss8660 yes it was the same thing as yours l. I paid 650 because of course he said the key ain’t reading so he had to program me a key first. After he saw it was not the key then he took the part out and replaced it and charge me for the spare key even tho my key still work

I notice you can turn the key so is not the steering lock the problem

And if replaced battery in key fob and checked car battery all fine but still nothing steering lock won’t come off when put key in ?

I had the same issue today even after I replace the battery. I used the spare key fob and that worked ok. The first fob still doesn't work.
