Mercedes-Benz E63 Owner Review (W212 V8 Bi-Turbo / M157)

This is a review of my 2013 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
This is the facelifted M157 V8 Bi-Turbo variant. This car is INSANE, and it is the best car i've owned. Coming from a 2009 C63, there is a massive difference. The one thing i'll give the C however was it was much better on the track!

    G'day mate. Nice review, and thanks for your time on your experience in the m157 w212, and other cars. I am in the market for a w212, either a m156 or m157. I'm leaning towards the m157, as I have owned 2 w211's eE55 and E63. Does the m157 have throttle lag or delay due to the turbos? What are your insights? Thank you and all the best.

  • @thatmatty231guy

    @thatmatty231guy

    3 жыл бұрын

    Sorry for not replying sooner. So yep the M157 has a slightly noticeable response delay compared to the M156 (due to turbos I imagine). Going from a C63 to a E63 I noticed it but quickly got used to it. The E63 had a lot more pull to it - just slightly less responsive and 'rev happy' as such :) Hope that helps.

    Hi, I had this for around 1.5 years all up. I think the W212 is reliable overall. But it reallys comes down to how the cars been treated. Ideally buy one that has been GARAGED its whole life where possible, that'll therefore have less likelihood of water leak issues which can damage electronics. Also make sure its been serviced regularly. Ideally its hard work done already / had parts replaced - i.e. dont buy an example with low k's that hasn't been driven.

    @thatmatty231guy

    Hey, very good. The E63 with the M157 is great, never had an issue in the 13/14 months I had it. Yep does consume oil, maybe 1/2L per 5000km, only minor :) All mercs to date ive owned seem to consume oil. No issues with it at all, I guess though only thing I did notice was the Air con seemed to play up a little bit sometimes, there was a valve that didn't always open so basically full speed air con felt like it was on low.. otherwise absolutely flawless car - don't get put off them because people say mercs aren't reliable. Just look after it and it'll look after you. Finally, just make sure the brakes are in good nic', mine cost $8000NZD to replace! But I tracked the car too :) I now have a 2006 E550 and 2007 S600 with the V12! Will make a video soon.

    @@kassperplus To Provide you with more information.... And ownership info see below. 1) oil is 9.5 QT of 0w-40 or 5w-40. Mobile-1 , It would cost you 25 -30 per a 5 gallon jugs, Cost of oil filter is 8 Dollars to 12 depending on where you buy it from 2) Brake jobs run about 4500 at the dealership You can find parts at FCP euro or online for cheaper 3) Tires are staggered and run you about 150-274 each depending on what make or quality you buy. 4) I get about 13 to 15 mpg in the around city drive Overview, cost of ownership is not bad if you don't abuse the car About the most expensive consumable on the vehicle is the brake. It's about 800 to 900 for rotors and about 300 for brake. Tires do last long as it's AWD( 4matic ) and doesn't really eat that much. Insurance is about 700 per 6 months ( you would have to shop around to get a deal) Other observations... The interior is Classy elegant and luxurious materials used are high quality. Car is super fast .. it's really shines from stop light aka drag race and is remarkable at 30-90mph accelerate. Issue I have had ride is harsh in comfort mode. Slight rattle due to small side walls and hard ride. The exhaust sounds help is draining it out. [Exhaust sounds is absolutely amazing] I have had a problem with my remote locking but per dealership it was due to a fuse that apprantly happend when I washed the engine bay. The vehicle I have is a w212 with M157 It's the E63 AMG-s version I would definitely describe it as a hotrod a muscle car more torque and less HP. It's a full size luxurious car with a monster of a engine and growl it's not a race car, it's more Jekyll and Hyde. Then usainbolt.
