the E55 was heat soaked, some proper cooling will address that issue real quick. congrats to the m3 driver, but we all know that if that e55 wasn't heatsoaked, the m3 will be toast.

I would take AMG over M every day..

Thanks man. The car should be running low 12's and trapping 112-116 mph stock but I have a bad IC pump so once I replace it I will be getting the Eurocharged tune and hitting the track again. (;

Good race and good for your dad getting out there and having fun with his machine. The E55 W211 is an amazing sedan. I was surprised with the result considering (assuming the M3 was stock which I am not sure is clear), the AMG has a 516 to 295lbft torque advantage and a power to weight advantage (assuming 4000lb for AMG and 3700 for M3)...but hey it's a race...I have a 2007 BMW M6 (V10) and a 2005 E55 Renntech Stage 1 and from the seat the E55 "feels" much faster from a dig...That torque is amazing. Enjoy it! That is what it is for.

The E55 is a Low 12 high 11 second car stock, claimed by 90% of people who tested these on the 1/4 mile, so obviously there mustve been something wrong with this e55

+Hesam0000 True. The W210 1999-02 E55 with 349HP does a 1/4 in the low 13's, something is definitely wrong with this car, or it can possibly be a tuned up E500 with an AMG package

Vincenzo Pagliccianni With a tune here at a local shop Dynocomp (AZ) they raise the HP to 671 and torque to 700. With that tune it can do 10.5sec at around 135-140mph.

I have an e55 and I can eat those m3 for breakfast lunch and dinner, something wrong with your car

What a cool car...can keep up with a newer m3. No complaints!

...after owning a few supercharged AMG i would recommend a Johnson cm30 inter-cooler pump for next race.

If the e55 had a simple tune and pulley swap, the results would be different

Good race. Actually a little surprised by the results. Is the M3 stock? Either way both are outstanding cars.

Slow time for a w211 E55.... even the N/A w203 C55 or w210 E55 can manage 13.1 in stock form. Hope you can run into the 12s as you should.

That’s about as fast as a e55 will run with a bad ic pump. There solid 114-116mph 1/4 mile cars when they have a working ic pump. Intercooler Pump.

Ya you might have lost by a second but won hands down in the looks and driving comfort. Which one of those cars would you want to take on a cross country drive?

IAT = Intake Air Temperature. If the temperatures are too high the computer will pull timing reducing power. The cooler the IAT's the more power you make.

Was ESP & all lights off ? airmatics on sport ? SPARE TIRE in the car ? were you on tiptronic mode ? and did you click that button under the accelerator pad. at lunching ? One of those must went wrong.

No shit. In that case you can remove every seat from the car and leave only the drivers seat. Of course less weight = more p.w.r. But who gets their spare tire out of the car just to drag when everything is stock. Waste of time. You would probably not get even a .05 second faster time if you did that.

a proper running e55 is super fast I use to destroy m6 m5 m3 srt8 scat pack camaros impala ss believe me e55 stock is a 12 second car it have 516 lbs of torque and that is stock with pulley and tune is a 11 second car... that is a zr1 territory....

David Charles he was ahead and seemed to have a good start. It’s a low 12 sec car so my guess (as mentioned in previous comments) would be heat soak.

Tell your pops to look into getting tune. Reentech and many others can add abother 80hp

considering these two cars arent even in the same class this was quite a pointless measure of brand. what was at the time the slowest M car vs a decade old mid range AMG doesnt make much sense

Fastest production Sedan in the world for 4 years straight!!! E55 is a fucking beast.. This car performs awful while heat soaked.. I have 135k on my car and its still fast as fuck.... This AMG will clean up 99% of anything on the street. Still a beast in 2019..

It's not only drag race.E92 handling is uncomparable with w211.

this E55 is a car manufactured in 2002/2003 you can read it in wikipedia and also find it on mercedes websides. and also please dont try to blame me with your uncle. i build mercedes cars. and now you have to think about much more than your wrong comment first.

there's no comparison the m3 coupe is a racing machine smaller and lighter than the heavy E class also the supercharger slows your engine down on high RPM and the m3 has the best non-turbo V8 there is.but overal I would take The AMG

this m3 only have 290 of torque and e55 have 516 so yeah the m3 have no chance at all I race one with my previous stock e55 and it was sad for the m3. I feel like if I was racing a corola....

Its not the same as a real manual gearbox. I've driven many cars with paddles on the steering wheel. Not even BMW's dual clutch transmission is good enough compared with manual gearbox imo, but little better then automatic. Huge different in feel, control and most of all... FUN. Dont get me wrong... your car is a very good and fast car.

BMW= BlackMansWeiner. Period, no one respects BMW in Germany, there like hondas. Everyone drives Benz there. Unless your poor and can't afford one. Oh, and obviously that M3 is modded to shit. Just listen to its lumpy ass cam and open exhaust. Not a fair race by any means, and the benz certainly held it's own....

please come talk to my horsepower and torque. This guy needs is intercooler pump changed. A 13 sec run? please stock the car runs low 12's all day. A good driver = sub 12. Bolt ons? high 10s. M3's including brand new turbo one will eat my dust all day

Red Agree, out of the box a stock E55 runs 4.2 sec. 0-60 and 12.4 sec. 1/4 mile. Stock M3 does 4.4 sec. 0-60 and a 12.9 sec. 1/4 mile. The weak link is a frequently failing intercooler pump. These are replaced by the now upgraded Bosch 10 version.
