Yes, they are the best cars in the world. I bought my first two in 2016 and 2017 and still drive both, have been 100% reliable in addition to their great quality, luxury and engineering. Their ride is perfect, too. Only needed to do routine maintenance, no repairs on either of them.

i ordered a new190 D in 1987 drove in Irish Republic and London, unique experience , wonderful car , enjoyed to the max.

So cool, I own a 300SD 1983 turbo diesel. I love the diesel engine and smooth ride. Have done all of the repairs myself, with the help of my good friend Renee here in north Houston.

Sold it to an American in 1978 and he shipped it back to U.S. It was a 1953 model and I was born in 1954 on the back seat!

@Onna Newell passed my drivers test. In 1957 on a r.h.d.180 57 model in Trinidad.Still on the road.Owned the. 2nd to last 116280 rhd. Still going good.love the still at 81yrs old.Gerald Amoroso...

Maybe I will spend the last few years of my life staying in this town. I would put up a chair on the pavement near the workshop every day and spend my time admiring the cars as they go in and out.

I'd love to know more about the fibreglass version of the gullwing. Many years ago, when I lived in London, there was one of these parked a few streets away. The cream coloured car was in deplorable condition on a driveway and had not moved for many years. The top of one of the doors was badly bent and had let about a decade of water ingress into the blackened interior; it was in fact disgusting.One day, I sneakily started exploring it, but was disappointed to see it was made of fibreglass. It was obviously, to my mind, a fake. I lost interest after that!

All my life dreamed that I will be retiring on a Mercedes Benz, but my mind was always based on 190 SL, 280 SL or possibly any other SL, but the lines have changed along the years and sadly not to my liking. Sorry.🤷‍♂️

I hear the 500 has a wimpy engine, 17 seconds to 60 is extremely sluggish even for the 1930s. Were the Rolls Royce and Bentley engines of the period better?
